Don't they have a forum there just to talk about drinking??
-
If the weather was anything like it was here at GVSU, probably not a whole lot!! You guys play your spring games out in Memorial Stadium right?? Brrr.... I thought I could pack up my thermal underwear up for the season. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go plug into my heater.

Arizona and ASU?? who plays hockey out in the desert?? I do think there are some schools out west that could very easily start up a hockey program no problem. Some of the more northern Pac 10 and Mountain West schools would be the more likely candidates. Washington, Wash. St., Oregon, Oregon St. Cal, Stanford, BYU, Utah, Colorado, Boise St., Sac St., and Montana would be the schools you would want to look at for new if the NCAA is looking to expand west more. I'm not saying that all of these schools could do right now, but some of them could have solid programs if they took the time to build one. Colorado already has a few teams playing college hockey and some sort of a youth or HS player development leagues down there, along with some of those other states. You would really want to look at Cali thought to find more players at. Most populus state in the Union, and I know how you guys love to rant about eastern media bias, but Sports Illustrated did a survey a while back and more top althetes come out of California than anywhere else. With better ice equipment and rollarhockey leagues, there are going to be more and more of Cali kids playing puck. It could be an untapped recuiting goldmine.

Nebraska only got that championship because Osborne was retiring that season. Any other year, Michigan would have been the outright champion. Of course they should go to a playoff system like every other freakin' college sport, but that's beside the point.

You all know I would love to see GVSU to get our own hockey team. Right now the thing thats holding us back I think is the cost. It would be too expensive to get the Van Andel every other weekend. And the rinks down the road a bit from campus, the Georgetown Ice Center, isn't that roomy and frankly, I think they would benifit at lot by adding on a third ice sheet with a bowl seating for about 4,000 to 5,000. Then, you do have title IX in the works, which would mean we would probably have to add women's hockey as well, or some other women's sport perhaps. But still, given our location, we could do pretty well for ourselfs once we get a program going. We would have an instant rivalry set up with Ferris just up the road, and I'm sure we could get one easy with teams like Western Michigan, Michigan St., Michigan, Wayne St., and Notre Dame all within 3 hours drive of us.
-
If you're the good looking one, the who is the ugly ones??
-
I know Notre Dame isn't in the Big Ten, even though they've been after them for years. But if that Big Ten Hockey conferance does come about, I could see them adding the Irish better than any of the MAC or any D2 schools like Ferris and LSSU.

4 posts, all of them in the Name Forum.

What about the Big Ten schools dropping out of the CCHA and WCHA and forming their own league? Michigan, Mich. State, Minneasota, Wisconsin, Ohio State and Notre Dame? That's six teams there, and I'm sure if they all got together to go, they could easily get a smaller school to come along to be the leagues whipping boy as well.

Its up, but all I've been able to do is edit an old post..

What about looking at other colleges that are looking to get into D1 hockey?? I don't think there is any teams around the Chicago area is there? And I know of another college up in GR that I know you guys wouldn't mind seeing getting a team. Also, what about other colleges not thought of as major talent hotbeds?? I bet that one or two schools out in Washington or Oregon could put together a team by recuiting a few western Canadians and whatever they can find locally. Heck, with some of the roller leagues in California, there is just a wealth of talent to be found there.

Or to Sudo-reporters who think they are experts!

Ooohhhhhhh!!! Cool!!! I hope he's only bothering with the people that have bothered to post. That would cut down on his workload.

I've emailed Brandon M. about it, he says he's working on it. It must be a big ass bug to keep his messageboard down for so long.

Not to mention that they put me in a dress for all to see without the benefit of alcohol. I'll get those pictures developed shortly, SMN.
