  1. Honestly, I have a little more respect for Vossberg after reading that. It makes sense to stand up for teammates, and Denver did come out on the wrong end of a 2-man advantage after that; something they neglected to print in that blog. It was an interesting take on the scuffle, and I appreciate that Vossberg talked about it.

It has been said before, but Radke has a very short fuse. It's not hard to get him going, especially when he has a DQ to burn against a NC Bemidji team. While I like that he stood up for teammates, he should really have backed off. You're not out to kill anyone (at least I hope not).

  2. I thought tie breakers were as follows...

    1. Head to Head

    2. Conference wins

    3. Not sure

    4. Not sure

In that case we'd be tied now. I think conference goals might be one of the tie breakers as well. It will be close though.

  3. Personally, I love an offensive defenseman...provided he can take care of business in his own end. A defenseman must play defense-first, that's why they play back there. I think LaPoint, Gleason, and Genoway will end up extremely solid 2-way defensemen. I don't think anyone here is opposed to a great puck moving defenseman, but that person must be defensively responsible. LaPoint is moving along at a great pace, but right now, I think people appreciate Marto's grit and skating prowess. Finley moves very well for his size, and has proven to be a great asset to the defense, if not the best consistently. The play you're talking about, Chuck, Finley did get burnt pretty bad, but made a play on the man and took a call to avoid a partial break on JPL. It sucks when that happens, but I definitely wouldn't throw Finley or LaPoint under the bus for rare mistakes like that.

  4. That list is clearly biased toward the quicker, more skilled defensemen. I would definitely not classify Jones or Finley last based on this year. In fact, I would put Chorney toward the middle for this year, considering his play during the middle of the season.

  5. “I haven't really thought about that,” the UND senior said with a laugh. “I don't consider myself among that tier of players."

Talk about being grounded. JP sounds like he has some good motivation, and is keeping his feet on the ground.

At this time of year, it's important to not settle for just "playing well" on a personal or team basis. It's all about results. If UND is focused and intense, this will be a fun series to watch. You know Denver will bring it.

I say a sweep by UND puts them in prime position to grab a #1 seed. Anything less and its probably a #2.

  6. The foundation is there for a good PP. The guys are starting to move the puck real well with the man advantage. Also, the defense is chipping in. I think they put in a couple on the PP this weekend. Here's to a Friday night Genoway blast to help me in Sioux Survivor.

  7. Bachman and Kangas are the next Mannino's....which could suck in the future.

But both could also end up as the next Isaac Reichmuth. You just never know how a player will react in the coming years. I truly hope they succeed though, because it's good for the league. I think UND will be ok in the goalie department *crosses fingers for no Siembidas in the coming years*.

  8. Actually 2-4 in our last 6 at home against DU...the last series coming at the beginning of 05-06 as a split. 3-1 UND on Friday, 7-2 DU on Saturday.

I imagine we have a better record against them on the road, as we tend to show pretty well in Denver.

  9. If it's this mum...I doubt it's leaving for the pros or something of that nature.

It will probably be either a serious personal issue/family, or academic/legal problems. Either way, a big blow to the Pios.

  10. I am actually thinking Minnesota will take one game for sure. I am going to go out on a limb and say it is a similar weekend to their weekend against UND. The catch is that DU will probably be missing two top scorers, and reeling (not on a winning streak). Minnesota finally seems to be putting it together. I bet they refocus and take two good road points...

    Friday: UMN 3-1

    Saturday: Denver 3-2

Minny taking points from DU would be awesome. Until we can get square on the games-in-hand, down with DU.

  11. There's still time to adjust your roster, no?

I picked Ruegsegger over Trotter this week...and now I'm glad that I did. However, I do hope that Brock and his family (if involved) are ok; and that he makes it back to the ice soon.

  12. You might be thinking of Joe Senser's, but I don't believe a UND alum is the owner. I'm sure someone else knows better though.

There's one in Bloomington and one in Roseville...and maybe one other. I have only been to the Bloomington location, and they take great care of that place. You are right, it is always full of Sioux fans, though there are many Gopher fans there as well. The wings are delicious, and a couple years ago they remodeled the place with more/larger tvs and a more open atmosphere.

It seems to be the establishment of choice for UND alum, so I recommend checking it out. In Bloomington basically right on 494, but I can never remember the cross street. Going west, I always look for it on the left.

  13. THIS IS THE LAST 2 WEEKS OF REGULAR SEASON PLAY - TOP 16 TEAMS AFTER THESE NEXT 2 WEEKS ADVANCE TO PLAYOFFS WHERE ALL 16 PLAYERS WILL BE SEEDED INTO A HEAD TO HEAD PLAYOFF FORMAT. 1vs16 , 2vs15 ect.....................GOOD LUCK

    STANDINGS HAVE BEEN UPDATED

    "Playoffs?!?!

    Playoffs?!?!

    Don't talk about playoffs

    Playoffs?!?!

I just hope we win a game!"

    :silly:

I shouldn't talk, I'm on the cusp. Time for a push to move up 6 spaces!

  14. I'll admit that I was on board with the people calling for Radke to sit. And this is exactly why. Since he has come back, he has played with more emotion and determination. The thing that separates the two verisons of Radke is that this version is not a liability on the ice. He is definitely not out there to just stir things up. That may work in the NHL, but in college a team can't really afford that type of one-dimensional player.

I think Radke has played great since coming back. Hak must be taking notice.

Great weekend boys, all lines chipped in and produced. Pretty and ugly goals, it was all there.
