  1. Here we are............First 2 WCHA games of the season on the road in Houghton. Lets start it off with 2 points and play some

Personally, I hope they start off with 4 points. And they will, if they play Fighting Sioux Hockey!

  2. It's (nearly) the weekend, and more importantly GAMEDAY!!

I just want to clarify whether it's a 6:05, 6:35, or 7:05 (Central) start time. I'm done with work at 6:00 CDT, so I'll have to rush home to make a 6:05 start.

  3. I put this on a previous post but Ill try again. What can you do to better your webcasts if anything? Obviously by not running anything else on your computer other than the webcast helps but does one connection better that others. Like I have cable, but should I have something different. Setting your computers settings a cerain way, ect? I dont see how some people could have no issues versus others. Any computer wizzards out there? :)

Sometimes it's how many people are on, but generally, if you have other things taking some of your internet bandwidth, then that is bandwidth that cannot be used for the stream. It doesn't usually have much to do with doing other things with the computer that aren't using the net.

Also, it is not just bandwidth for your computer. It could be your allotted bandwidth for your apartment, dorm, port, etc. For instance, if I am streaming video in one room, and my friend is streaming in the other room, that will hurt our video performance. Maybe your dorm has a bandwidth restriction preventing mass downloading or streaming?

  4. Nothing to hang our (or the players') heads about. It was a tight game. UNO made the plays on defense to keep UND out of the endzone on those 4th and 1's. The holding on Chappel's 85 yarder made all the difference, as it would have been a tie game at that point. Then, UND would have kicked the FG to take a 3 point lead possibly.

The defense needs to clamp down on the rush against UNO. Maybe a little gunshy after the fade for a 21-14 lead, but over 300 yards rushing is not going to cut it.

Take care of business the rest of the way, and there's a high likely the teams will meet again just like last year. I still like our chances.

  5. Hello all, I wanted to pass this information on because I know a lot of posters here are collectors and fun loving people. :silly:

On Friday, October 12 at 8:00 pm, the Harvest Moon Fling comes to the Fargo Holiday Inn (13th ave) ballroom. This event includes free food, live entertainment from local band "Past Due," a dance, and a bar. $.25 of every drink purchase goes to the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center.

The part you may be most interested in is the silent auction. Among the fabulous items up for bid are:

A hockey stick signed by the entire Fighting Sioux men's hockey team (and coaches)

A football helmet signed by the entire Fighting Sioux football team (and coaches)

A commemorative football signed by the entire NDSU Bison football team (and coaches)

A basketball signed by the entire NDSU Bison men's basketball team.

Plus, there are many other great items, such as casino packages, hotel packages, massage packages, and gourmet food. There are well over 300 items in total!!

100% of proceeds go to helping victims of violence.

The price of admission is $20 per ticket (avaliable at door) which covers food and entrance into silent auction. Please come support victims of violence, and maybe even bid on some UND/NDSU memorabilia!!

  6. Well, he only faced 2 shots. One was a deflection over the shoulder, which he could have saved. The other was a super-flukey behind the goal line shot. Practice is more of an indication than this was of how good he will be. It was almost a complete wash for him. The most he could do is practice his angles and watch shots fly over the net. He has let in 0 goals that count so far this year.

We'll see what happens when he faces 20+ shots in the next few weeks. Jean-Phillipe is the guy until Hak says otherwise.

  7. I'd say it's goaltending as Reichmuth peaked as a sophomore. They had two outstanding sophs last year who bolted. They have a few talented players, but consistency, defense, and goaltending are the issues.

I always hope, because I love watching UND play Duluth.

  8. Watch the video of the Final 5 game against St. Cloud. It was VV's best game, and showed what he's capable of.

I agree, however, that faceoff depth is very important...lest we forget the Mankato :50 comeback at the Ralph awhile back. Put VV on the second line with Watkins and Trupp (or Miller). Try out Frattin on the top line.

  9. Forney-Oshie-Duncan

    Trupp-VV-Watkins/Frattin

    Zajac-Kaip-Kozek

    Malone-Radke-Frattin/?

Who knows what the combos will be. I don't know who will center the 4th line at all. Trupp may end up on the first line, but I'd rather team up speed with size. VV provides size to that line like Forney does to the first line.

I like these combos! It's really hard to tell who can fill the first line, but I totally agree with VV being another center. Having good faceoff men is extremely important, so it's foolish to put two on one line unless you have a glut. I like the 3rd line you have especially, and think that might stick.

  10. Maybe it should be

    0 Goals = 5 points

    1 Goal = 4 points

    2-3 Goals = 3 points

    4-5 Goals = 1 points (or 2 points...either way works)

    6+ Goals = 0 points

This helps separate 0 and 1 goals from the pack a little. 2-3 goals are kind of in the same boat from where I sit. 1 goal is definitely better, and I agree that there should be more than 1 point separating 1 and 4.

It's just a thought. I am also looking to join this year, when it gets going. This will be fun, having never played before!

  11. 1. UND

    2. UM

    3. UW

    4. MTU

    5. CC

    6. DU

    7. SCSU

    8. UMD

    9. UAA

    10. MSUM

I remember a lot of people saying that Wisc would drop off when Bernd Bruckler left. As it turned out Elliot led them to a championship and was stellar. Looking at who UW has coming in, I'd put them higher than last year.

I think Tech is slightly overrated, but it's fun to be proven wrong by a lower tier team. Maybe Tech will return to the prominence they once had?

CC and Denver will fight for home ice with each other. SCSU is also overrated, I think. Bobby G. was the anchor of the team, and I don't see them replacing him or Andrew Gordon.

This will be a really fun year, for sure. I really hope that Duluth is better. It's depressing watching them slip so much in recent years. Losing those two dynamic Sophs will hurt pretty bad, though. And the Bulldogs were bad enough with them in the lineup.

  12. Though I agree about MN returning a lot of scoring, I don't agree with another part of that. You just can't replace the #1 overall draft pick, and two very experienced/very gifted defensemen in Goli and Vanelli. Not to mention Frazee will have to be a lot less streaky.

I know MN will be fine. But I think replacing those 3 is just not possible, so there will be a learning curve this year.
