  1. Vince was referring to the snub of UND baseball when the summit was in need of a team to maintain autobids.
  2. Many international flights no longer have "first class." They changed the name so it's all "business class" as a marketing gimmick and a way of allowing people like Bresciani to work around policies banning first class travel.
  3. Additional student support services staff, student financial services staff, faculty (whether you believe they have to be hired or not, they are being hired), maintenance staff, custodial staff, office/work space for all those employees, classrooms, labs, student activity space, additional transportation services, etc. When 5 students are added, you're right, it's not a big deal as fixed costs won't change and variable costs are negligible. When 1,500 students are added, it becomes an issue, especially when they aren't paying tuition.
  4. Anyone else have a problem with Tambelleave-y being listed here? He didn't earn recognition as a UND alum, IMO.
  5. They're from the 2014-15 academic year. When you give tuition waivers to nearly twice as many students, you're going to get more fee and housing revenue. Doesn't change the fact they're placing their share of costs on local students (who pay tuition, fees, and housing) and the state taxpayers by not charging these students tuition.
  6. The international students/tuition waivers discussion has been moved to:
  7. When you give tuition waivers to nearly 80% more students than UND, it's not hard to rack up those numbers. Ndsu also gets a lot of money from the state for the credits completed by those students receiving waivers. It's quite the racket.
  8. Not sure what that appointment entails, but he may have done some teaching in the business schools along the way?
  9. Allen Lee Sessoms, professor at Georgetown University I was curious how a professor made the cut with all the VPs, Deans, etc. No thanks. UND doesn't need a Chapman.
  10. Back to UND's president search, I'm liking the background of this applicant. UND grad. Currently a VP/CFO at a large research university. Has been a VP at Emporia St (Kansas), Eastern Illinois, Southern Methodist University, Purdue, and Arizona St. Worked as a budget analyst for North Dakota OMB (granted it was 30 years ago) so he has experience working with the executive and legislative branches of state government during the budgeting/appropriations process. Should have good business sense. If this guy is personable and capable of talking to potential donors, he's the one, IMO.
  11. I guess I'm one of the people still stuck in the 50s (as a millennial) struggling to understand how importing a kid from India for 3 years, getting $0 in tuition from him/her, having them work on a noncompetitive grant project or as a teaching assistant nobody from the midwest can understand (while a ND/MN student continues working as a server and paying full tuition), and then them leaving to go back to India with a masters degree (because they were here on a student visa, and thus, can't stay after graduation or work outside of the university), all paid for by the ND taxpayers and other students, is such a great deal for us. Yes that was a terrible run-on sentence. It was meant to be exhausting.
  12. Cags listed as doubtful, per Schloss/Berry.
  13. Maybe, but I'm guessing https://www.minotstateu.edu/president/pages/bio_shirley.shtml
  14. Reading bisonvile again eh?

Even lower than Flying J? Maybe all the talk of boycotting Simonson's finally turned into people actually boycotting Simonson's.
  16. http://www.uscho.com/from-the-press-box/2016/01/18/call-interference-on-prolonged-dump-and-chase-contact-officials-reminded/ Uscho article about the ncaa rules committee sending a reminder to refs on enforcement of interference rules when a player dumps a puck in the zone and is then held up by the d-man. Seems it may tie in with the conversation here on refs and low scoring on the wcha.
  17. Telling those people to go be fans of UND's rival isn't the answer. Time will ebb at the no nickname crowd. Allow it to work. As iluvdebbies said, the booing and Sioux forever chants are already showing signs of losing steam.
  18. Does Schafer have final say over which firm is selected? Or has another committee been formed?
  19. http://www.oregonlive.com/collegefootball/index.ssf/2016/01/portland_state_freshman_lineba.html PSU freshman LB dies of complications from minor surgery to remove tonsils. Thoughts with Vikings team, fans, and family.
  20. Duluth is part of the University of Minnesota system rather than the Minnesota State system. I believe the Duluth president/chancellor answers to the president of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Can't imagine them allowing Duluth to move football to D1.
  21. Not sure how bad the streaming picture is, but the picture seems darker than usual on midco as well
