  1. At this point, I'm expecting the worst as far as transfers go. This could very well be a 3-4 year rebuild just to get a team into playoff contention.

It's really amazing that football was one of the things that drew me here originally, and over the course of two stints at this school and three degrees, the program has regressed almost every year. It's been tremendously disappointing.

  2. You obviously don't follow FCS football all that closely, huh?

yes the socon is going to start looking alot worse after this year. Probably the 5th of even 6th best conference if scholarships lift the level of play of the patriot. But we were talking about past playoff records, weren't we.

  3. You realize the SoCon is complete dogsh*t now, right? And the CAA has been down for 2-3 years now, bunch of pretty good programs but no Top 5 teams.

If you want to explain your post I would like to know what you meant, maybe I missed the point?

the point was that every league looks like crap when you take out its best team. the MVFC looks as crappy without ndsu as the big sky does without montana or ewu

ODU was a top 5 team and semi finalist last year

  4. We will have to agree to disagree on most of what you posted above. Innocent til proven guilty...yes but that doesn't apply here. "Revolution"...no. Taking matters in your own hands in an obvious situation like this...kudos to that gentleman and the beat down he administered.

Sometimes trash needs to be dealt with appropriately and hauled to the curb as it was in this situation.

in which part of your story was the beating necessary? was the truck going to run off in the five minutes it would take to get the cops there? The beating was unnecessary and unjust, and absolutely illegal. Hopefully he serves a long term, much longer than the thief.

If you want to be a part of civilized society, you don't take justice into your own hands. This isn't the third world or some ghetto.

  5. Whatever makes you feel better.

darrell, all you do is post about NDSU. I'd like to retract the earlier statement about UND having small-man syndrome. I think it's actually just you, hayduke and siouxvolley.

  6. this board has small man syndrome so bad sometimes.

what's the excuse going to be in two weeks when kstate is 6-4, and their loses are to ranked texas, oklahoma, and baylor?

That game played out like you would expect an upset bid to play out. Big team comes out and scores. Later big team drops a pass in the endzone, then misses the field goal, then gives up a long TD on blown coverage, than another, then a redzone turnover. But the big team powered back in the third and fourth, just like you would expect, say, Miami to do against wake last week. Only the big team in this case was NDSU, and they looked the part all game and all year.

""We've never experienced such friendly drunks," Viverito recalled being told by one of those officials."....

See, I told they they're a bunch of drunks. Of course this statement doesn't apply to the players at the University of Agriculture and applied Sciences. They get drunk, pick fights, and get videoed in the back of squad cars...

yeah the difference is that their teammates don't bust them out of the back of said squadcars and then everyone gets a free pass. :whistling:

  7. I think that homecoming attendance told us all we (or Faison) needed to know. UNC will almost certainly be the lowest number we've seen for any of the "deer opener" games, but that's not really going to be a surprise to anyone.

that its bad wont surprise anyone, but i think how bad it is will. I think 5k is optimistic

  8. Riding in on his white horse to back the Bison! Once again.

UND is picked 2nd in the Big Sky and will be pretty good this year. Hard to argue that one, big guy.

Also, two years ago UND beat both SDSU and NDSU when the games were at home. Funny how home court seems to make a difference.

I love that pointing out objective reality makes me some sort of NDSU hack. Get your numbers right the first time/panties out of a bunch.

This is probably the best pair of MBB teams the state has ever produced. Both schools might have their best team ever, or very close.

  9. If you don't think UND athletics is in a much better place than because of the Ralph and also the Betty then I'm not sure what kind of reality you live in. The tax returns for all of the entities are freely available to look through as they all operate as non-profits. Go ahead and point out where money is being wasted or withheld from UND. I've sat in on a presentation by Jody Hodgson a few years ago and they are open with the dollar amount directed back to UND along with other income that passes back to them. And at some point, UND will take over the building, meaning all the upgrades and maintenance that is being put back into the building instead of just going to UND will benefit UND.

What was the level of profit that was "promised" to UND vs what they are getting?

the money that went into the REA would have made a pretty good athletics endowment

  10. how did i go from the pessimist to the optimist around here?

also geaux_sioux: NDSU got 157 1st place votes which is 3925 points, the entirety of their points. Whoever voted Towson first did not rank NDSU, and I think we can safely assume voted UND 6th.

  11. Because the coach doesn't like how they recruited a player, the college would put his future kids in a "bad situation? Don't think so.

I have a feeling this one pertained to offers that never came and jerking around by a certain staff, maybe false promises about an upcoming offer. If so, that coach better get used to it or his blacklist of schools is going to get pretty long.

you are pretty naive if you think the worst a school can do is the bolded. I think hardly think that would be the issue at hand.
  12. I understand what you are saying. Something must have happened. But, your example is two kids that had other offers anyway. How about the year he has a couple fringe guys and no offers are coming? Schools are going to ask who else offered and when they find out nobody, hello preferred walk-on! If said school that pissed him off is still involved, they create competition and possibly get his kid a partial offer. It only hurts the kids and parents when a coach shuts out schools. Let the kids decide.

high school coaches have a responsibility to keep kids out of bad situations. Sometimes that involves taking a partial instead of a full ride, for instance.
  13. The eternal optimist in me feels the need to point out the following:

-EWU has not been particularly good at stopping the run

-EWU is -3 in the Turnover department (although UND is -7)

-EWU has racked up nearly as many penalties as we have

-EWU hasn't gotten after opposing QB's all that well

On paper, it doesn't look like EWU is nearly as good as either Montana St. or Montana. But I'd say they've played a much tougher schedule than both of those schools. On the other hand, they still look a helluva lot better than us..........................

my expectation is that EWU is a much better team than either UM or MSU, and is the only credible title contender in the big sky.

70-20, UND scores two garbage TD's against their backups in the fourth
