  1. I agree with the "swing for the fences" mentality. Do you think it is possible that we miss out on kids because of offers or attention to kids that won't end up coming to UND?

if you swing for the fences every time and strike out every time, what are you left with when they all commit up and fcs caliber athletes are all snapped up?
  2. Below is select teams from the BSC and points for, points against and differential comparison.

    Team PF PA Diff

    MSU 435 274 161

    EWU 472 356 116

    Cal Poly 440 284 156

    N Ariz 348 260 88

    Montana 348 294 54

    UND 369 380 -11

    1) Buy or Sell UND will have a differential of +75

    2) Buy or Sell UND will have a differential of +100

    3) Buy or Sell UND will lead the league in + differential this season.

    buy sell sell

  3. Actually it may be be that "out there". If John Hopkins can join the B1G why not UND? UND is a big money maker in hockey and if PSU fails they will need another "big hockey name" to join and since teams like Illinois or Indiana is not in the future why not UND? Imagine the $$$ from the team who is #1 in attendance. It may become a reality when their !@#!$ conference fails.

if you can't tell the difference between letting John Hopkins affiliate and letting UND affiliate....

By big10 standards, UND hockey revenue is pocket change.

  4. whats always perplexed me is why team A gets 200k and team b gets 500k. If FCS teams are so uncompetitive and uninteresting, they would be interchangeable for the most part, so why would certain teams be paid so much more? Geography would be the only thing i can think of to explain it, but that doesn't seem to help.

oh well good for USD, they need it.

  5. If our run defense isn't 10x better than last year they'll have 400 on the ground. I don't think they'll be able to handle our wr though.

I think they would have been very heavy favorites in a hypothetical matchup last year, and I think they are borderline FCS top-5 this year. If the run D isn't much improved, it won't be a game.

I'm going to sdsu-UNL because i think sdsu has a credible (but not great) shot.

  6. Sell, I think if he struggles early Muss will give Bartles a look.

Buy or Sell: UND starts conference play 3-0 (wins over Valpo, Montana and South Dakota State).

buy on mollberg, sell on 3-0 (loss to sdsu imo), buy on both attendance questions, buy on Muss still having a job, sell on 1,000 yd rusher, buy on 3 FR starters

buy or sell: UND is 4-2 or better on october 13th (valpo, sdsu, um, msu, isu, ewu)

  7. i figured there would be more long term employees, but at least this should have a pretty good wage profile, similar to crystal sugar or better. Are they going to build man-camps for some of these temp workers? That would be alot of workers for grand forks to have to absorb and then promptly lose.

  8. Looks like a lot of them want us to join the Scummit/MVFC. The only way I see UND even considering joining the Slummit is if Douple is gone.

i think most summit supporters would also like douple gone.

Which is why I said Douple leaving would be the only way UND would even consider the Slummit/MVFC (consider, but not necessarily join). Overall the BSC is a better conference, however, travel and a wish to reunite with the other Dakota schools could lead UND to consider moving its sports. At this point I'd say the Slummit would need to add a couple other quality schools before UND should take them seriously though.

better conference at what? certainly certainly not basketball, and I think it would be pretty tough to argue football at this point.

anyway, if NDSU, SDSU, and USD were to join the BSC, the bigsky instantly becomes extremely unstable. NDSU and SDSU would be two of the top 3 programs in the sky right now, and if UND can take the next step next year, we could be in a situation where three of the top4 schools in the bigsky are actually some fringe bunch of midwestern schools. I bet NAU and Sac st etc etc would really love flying to the dakotas twice a year for an automatic beatdown.

Until there is a fully dakota-centric multisport conference, all the dakota schools, including UND, will be nothing but a source of instability for any conference they are in.

  9. Some und troll on the bison media blog made the statement that Golladay is the top nfl prospect in North Dakota. Given he's only played one season, which was hampered by a high ankle sprain, that's quite the statement. But when you really think about it he just might be. He's got the height and with how's he's already developed after one winter who knows what he'll look like as a senior. My first thought was it was ridiculous. After thinking about it, it could end up being true. Emphasis on could.

I think thats a stretch until Williams is gone, since he is imo the best prospect since kleinsasser out of the ND schools. He certainly has the gifts to make it true though.

I'm talking more in terms of projection. Hardin's size will hold him back more than being an fcs player. Potentially Golladay has way more nfl appeal.

I was really surprised my hardin's size when I first me him last summer. Even for his height he is very lightly built by football standards.
  10. i've had a good meals at the italian place in the alerus complex (it's name currently escapes me) and at eagles crest, though i would put both in a rung slightly below sanders, guisseppes, and the frog. I've been pretty pleased with the new sushi place on 3rd, though being fairly ignorant of sushi, I won't go and lump it in with the rest.

I do rather enjoy Fargo backers promoting the alleged greatness of their town, a town where the dump is in city limits and on two major streets no less (and their refuse burial site is in city limits too).

iirc, significant portions of downtown chicago and san fransisco, and probably many other cities, are built on old garbage piles. NYC has an entire borough that was dominated by a city dump for most of its modern history.

  11. Guess we're just country hicks that can't compare in sophistication with a grad of MooU. Since you've lived in Fargo, guess you've seen all the world has to offer. :silly:

So you're saying that a community that grows it's apartment units by 10% in a year isn't a big deal? It would be a big deal in Phoenix or Minneapolis.

    http://minnesota.pub...oom-grand-forks

first off, 300 last year and 400 *proposed* this year is two years, not one, and so far ground has been broken on roughly none of those 400 proposed units.

I haven't lived in fargo in a decade, I'm sure someone around here can IP check me if it's such a big deal for you.

  12. rock died for a while there but is starting to return

they lay a lot of pot head music there and long socks still works there haha

ah, its the new crosstown. I'll have to investigate. While the loft is nice i do miss the old place .

Take it in context of what is happening further south on 42nd. Maybe you haven't read the papers on how little housing there is available in Grand Forks?

wow, they're building.... a strip mall, and can't find any better commercial uses for land next to a sport stadium than... residential. Sometimes i wonder if any of you have spent time in a city other than grand forks.
