  1. They want to keep the house, but they didn't have a specific purpose for it as of late last fall. There will be a lot of movement over the next few years with the new Med school building, moving offices into the old Med school and taking some of these other buildings off line.

I had heard several years ago that the plan was to move it to a lot across the street. The old presidents house is imo the best looking building on campus. I would be more disgruntled than normal if it came down. Babcock imo should be saved as well.

  2. So NDSU wanted to join the Big Sky in 2005 but had no desire to join if asked in 2009. What changed in those 4 years? Just because NDSU settled for the Summit/MVFC, doesn't mean that they need to rip on UND and oither schools for taking advantage of the situation in 2009. The FACT is that NDSU wanted to be in the Big SKy in 2005, obviously. HAd they still been looking for a conference in 2009, they would have deffinitely wante dto join the Big Sky. YOu are telling me that NDSU has ZERO desire to join the Big SKy if given the chance? I suppose you will come back with all the successes in the Summit/MVFC to prove your point that you are doing just fine where you are at. But face it, NDSU , GT, and most of the fanbase wanted to be in the Big SKy in the past and a part of them would still like to be a part of it now.

NDSU never settled for the summit/mvfc. It was easily choice #1, and thought to be unattainable until wku moved up. I don't think very many would want to leave the summit/mvfc for the big sky. It would be a big step back in all sports.

  3. I love how NDSU tried twice to get into the BSC while at the same time not bringing up travel...until UND joined then travel is an issue.

travel was an issue for NDSU. The big sky was only ever on the table because the mvfc was off the table, until wku left.

  4. According to bison and jack fans, the Big Sky can't wait to get rid of UND. But according to the Big Sky's own documents, the Big Sky considers Montana, Montana State, and UND to be the three key schools in the conference. Idaho's own acceptance is dependent on those three still being members, otherwise Idaho can back out of joining at no cost:

Idaho's demands in their contract really say nothing about the Big Sky's view's on UND's importance. Not that you are wrong, just logically inconsistent.

Have you ever once provided evidence for any of your crazy schemes?

  5. Bison fans are awfully good at fabricating FBS rules. Where does it say that the SEC, Big Ten, and Pac 12 approved FBS status for Appalachian St and Ga Southern? The playoff system will set aside money for the G5. The P5 doesn't care what the G5 consists of, and would actually prefer more schools because then game guarantees go down.

The Big Sky is more capable than most of the Sun Belt. Look at La-Monroe or Ga Southern. Jacksonville St, Sam Houston, and E Kentucky want FBS, and your saying the Big Sky can't!

the big sky is more capable than georgia southern?

Why do some people seem to take you seriously here?

  6. I didn't come up with the scheme, I just recognized what Fullerton is planning to do. Verified by the opens record request to Idaho.

There is zero reason the Big Sky Presidents ever allow a non-football team in. Idaho is an exception because it will get the conference to FBS.

Utah would have 5 fbs schools. Colorado 4. Montana 2. Thats more than those states can support. Most of the schools in the big sky cannot support fbs football at a competitive level, either be cause the can't afford it or because their recruiting footprint is already saturated.

  7. Your claim. As for your poll the responses came from kids who never had to walk anywhere in their lives. There is plenty of parking. It just is not at the front door. How far did you live from school and did you walk, bus, or get a ride. There is no lot further from a building than we had to walk to school everyday. Most are a lot closer.

i've had to walk from the far side of u park twice this semester
  8. I wince a bit about the idea of UND going to FBS: the commitment and money and facilities are not easily put together. But as a school, what worries me more is that UND wouldn't have the commitment to FBS while the Big Sky does. Should UND back off and ask Douple for a spot because we're not up for the task? Idaho is committed to FBS. Montana has an FBS future planned, as FCS is not the financially prudent place to stay. It's an enormous commitment of resources and talent to get there. Will UND and the Grand Forks community have what it takes?

for someone who winces at the thought, you sure like to come up with schemes for UND to do it.

  9. Cops apparently had nothing better to do than !@#$ up people lives over petty bull$%!#. Oh god an adult is drunk lets everyone freak out over that massive indiscretion.

Why would we sell weapons to Iran? Are we moving away from this administration's policy of giving them away to drug cartels in Mexico?

If our own government doesn't care why four Americans were killed a year ago in Libya, why is this poor college girl's mistake making headline news? Because it's more fun to laugh at the troubles of people in 'high places'? Why not a post about Anthony Weiner's latest sex-capade or Eliot Spitzer meeting the parents of his 20-something girlfriend? Your post alerting everyone here of your 'breaking news' was pure trash.

there has already been a conclusive investigation into Bengazi and operational changes as a result. Ignoring the stupidity of the OP, you can't seriously be unaware of Iran Contra, right? You know that thing where in exchange for not releasing the hostages before the election, Reagan agreed to illegally sell Iran arms which he then funneled to a narco-terrorist groups that slaughtered thousands of people, right?

There's a difference between journalism and muckraking. She's a 19 year old girl for God's sake. Get a life.

I don't think you know what muckracking means.

  10. gfhockey made a rascist statement. Players from out of state tend to leave when things go south. He attributes this to race, because out of state recruits tend to not be caucasian. The fact that they are black really isn't relevant, and is not the driving issue or anywhere near it.

I am on Oxbow's team. A trend is a trend and it is pathetic to see White Apologists who think we aren't allowed to recognize and bring up things we are seeing.

You have the right to say that, just like we have the right to mock and ridicule bigotry. White apologist? what kind horseshit is that?

  11. It's just another embarrassing page in an embarrassing chapter of the program. How long is this chapter? We still don't know.

when do we reach the point where we would have just been better off keeping mussman?

  12. Yeah, I remember seeing them about the same time as the renderings of a retractable roof football stadium came out, so who knows how serious they actually are. It looked nice, and feasible (certainly more so than a retractable roof stadium), and included Chandler Hall (ugliest building on the UND campus) being demolished and basically adding a new wing to Gamble Hall that was connected to the existing building.

I think a new business school/complete renovation of the current one would be one of the best things that UND could do right now. Gamble is used by nearly every student on campus at some point in their academic career and is sitting on a prime spot on campus. I have a friend who goes to Miami (Ohio), and you should see their new building, absolutely beautiful:

I spent a week at Miami a bunch of summers ago. That campus is beyond spectacular.

  13. After this whole McComas deal, UND football is gonna be better known nationally as the program some video game player applied to rather then a nationally competitive FCS program. I guess we've never been competitive in the FCS, so just as well be the butt of a big joke.

sometimes its better to roll with the punches

  14. Just curious why they wouldn't be able to do that while staying in the Southland? I was quite surprised to see them come back to the summit and it is a good thing for the conference, shores up their problems. I do find it amusing that the FU faithful are gloating that the ORU coming back proves that Douple had a plan for the Summit all along.

siouxvolley just needs a reason for ORU to join the summit based on something other than the merits. When people like him are wrong, it's always a plot.
  15. I feel like recruiting is the key to this rebuilding job. Even disregarding the off the field issues for a moment, what evidence is there that Pflugrad would be able to recruit well in this region? I keep using this example, but look at Lennon at SIU--a new geographical area can completely change whether a coach is perceived to be a good recruiter.

what evidence is there that BB can recruit? Perhaps we should get the coaching aspect down before starting after top-shelf FCS recruits. You can have all the top-flight FCS talent you want, but it won't be worth a damn without a good administrator.
  16. i still can't believe that people think a guy without any head coaching or even coordinator experience is the popular choice for what looks like a sizable rebuild job. Pflugrad, among many others, is a vastly superior choice, even with the minor off the field problems.

  17. Pease has a good history, I don't expect him to fall too far down the ladder.

And an update on the Nebraska situation. Their AD released a statement stating Pelini will lead the program in the future. Not the strongest vote of confidence but it likely means they won't make a change before their bowl game if they do decide to move on from Pelini. Probably eliminates any assistants from their staff as Faison will hopefully have a coach hired well before the conclusion of bowl season.

i think it's absurd to be firing an 8-4 coach.

  18. Bohl was meant to win Bowls.

I think he'll go eventually, but I don't think it will be this year. There really isn't an obvious job right now. He'll get a look at a program eventually as long as he keeps winning, so there really isn't much incentive to go anything other than a big time job. Would Illinois be big enough to get Bohl to pull the trigger? Or rather wait out for maybe Michigan, Penn State, or Nebraska next year? Would Texas or Florida or Kstate look at Bohl if those jobs were to open? Maybe KState, but I don't think Snyder retires after this year..
