  1. This thread died without resolving a question posed by another poster as to the broadcasting of certain games by Root Sports, most noteably the U Montana fb game. Does anyone know whether this gane and other Root broadcasted games would be webcast by UND Insider? How about Midcontinent, would midco be given the option of carrying certain games (since the don't carry a Root channel)?

  2. You guys are probably in for a really rude awakening this season.

I say this because I have been reading the delusion on this board for awhile and its really starting to look like the MSU website every year.

This isnt smack but sometimes the truth hurts a bit so brace your self here it is.

UND will lose at least 6 games this year:

    Portland St

    San Diego St

    Eastern Washington

    Montana

    Montana St

    Southern Utah

and a very real possibility of losing to Cal Poly and Sac St

These teams are proven at this level and are returning a ton of talent, its just not a good year to be breaking into a new conference with what you guys have coming back.

Now if you want a real debate, please criticize my comments with facts and stats. I realize most of you will take the easy way out and start calling for me to be banned, call me a troll and evade facts and debate like a modest Kardashian

We can have a decent conversation or a cyber slugfest its up to you.

Here is a stat for you...UND's record against those teams last year was 1-0. UND also has alot of returning talent to match up with the returnees from those teams. The rest of your post amounts to unsubstantiated assertion.

  3. Not going to matter? What a crappy way to look at the democratic process.

You got a vote. That's more than most people have been able to say throughout history.

Hey, I am a UND alum and didn't get a vote because I live in South Dakota. Here is one thing a have to say though....thanks to the NDSU people that did the right thing and voted "yes".

  4. A conference record including the Portland State game of better than 500 will be a good season considering we have never experienced the grind of playing Big Sky opponents every week. I would also like to see us beat Montana more than any other team...the griz are the conference champs and we have more of a history with them than anyone else.

  5. You should have learn that UND, oh wait the communications department lost accredition, did the english department too?

This sentence is a train wreck. What is accredition? Somehow I doubt your position on the name and logo is any better considered than is this post.

  6. Nothing less than the future of UND athletics is at stake on June 12th.

This statement is as concise, to the point, and accurate as any comment I've seen regarding the consequences of a "no" vote. Not only will UND be playing the likes of Mayville State alot, but they will lose to these teams as often as not. Keeping the name/logo is not an option if you are a fan of UND teams.

I would vote "yes" if I could but I am out of state, but I ask ND residents to do what is right, especially you NDSU people. Let's get the old rivalry going and once going lets keep it vital.

  7. I voted 4th but with the core of last year's team back and with a dramatically improved passing game the Sioux (or whomever) will be a challenge to everyone they play...or at least have the potential to be. Injuries and the grind of playing conference games every week will be potential jokers.

  8. Other than in hockey, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa have all blacklisted UND. Saying that the Big Sky would not retract UND membership only makes sense if it can be demonstrated that the mindset demonstrated by these three schools is restricted to the upper Midwest, a proposition that I find preposterous.

  9. I wonder about the same thing....all these threads about the 1st season of football in the Big Sky presume we won't get 86'd if the June vote goes the wrong way. I can see most of the scheduled games against BS teams being played but as nonconference games and then in 2013 get ready for U. Sioux Falls and Dickinson State.

  10. Both the football and men's hockey teams have fought through some early season adversity this year to attain success. It has been gratifying following both teams. Very proud of my alma mater right now.

  11. How about you guys with the fancy computer skillls do something useful and post up all the historic FB and hockey unis? Like Dave Osborne in his white helmut with green center stripe, green jersey, white pants. Personally I liked the gray and green fronm the 70's the best

  12. By all indications UND grads/former students not currently living in North Dakota such as me will have no say as to whether the Sioux logo/name stays or goes by being ineligible to vote in the June referral. I'm just wondering if anyone would like to speculate as to how many people will vote intentionally to harm UND (say Bison fans), and why? Will these types of voters be a factorin the outcome of the election?

  13. I don't post much, just mainly lurk. But its hard for me to imagine that any bluechip HS athlete doesn't have to think twice about going to UND in the current environment. Its only going to get worse the longer this imbroblio persists. To think otherwise is willful ignorance. As a 1977 UND grad that has stayed loyal to his alma mater living in Vermillion and working at USD for fourteen years, put me down for retirement of the name and logo asap. And I'm sorry but the Spirit Lake initiative is years too late to be effective.

I suspect what is going to happen is 1. retention of name (already occurring) 2. rejection by the Big Sky 3. retirement of name (permanently), followed by 4. UND joining Summit/Mo Valley. UND teams will be seriously depleted by the time step 4 takes place.
