The original Dixie State game was scheduled prior to the Vegas hockey game being scheduled. However there are only so many dates they could work around for Vegas due to arena and opponent availability.

When Dixie State had to redo their schedule and backed out of the contract, they tried to get a game this weekend instead of in 2 weeks but were unable to find anything that worked due to it being so late in the process. The only positive part is that instead of a home/home, UND is getting a fairly cheap "buy-game" at home to replace Dixie State.

That's right. I totally forgot about the scheduling issue with their conference. Thanks!

When will destination hockey games stop being scheduled during a UND home football game?

They couldn't control the playoff game since the hockey game was scheduled way in advance. But yeah, the Weber game and now this. Seems like we could have gotten one of the two to fall on a road game.

Since it is the bye week:  I have the important questions to ask the group.

How do you feel the season is going so far?

    What are some surprises?  Dissapointments?

What are the expectations and things to look out for in the 2nd half of the season?

4-2 is where we wanted to be so I am happy about that. One thing that we don't talk a lot about is the 3 and 2 type situations that we struggled with last year are all fallign our way this year and that is huge. The scramble ability of Tommy and the receivers is so good. Hoos is much better than most of us thought he would be.

The secondary is obvious but the front 7 has let me down a bit more than I thought they would. They have some really nice plays and then will let a chunk play pop.

I expect that we ride the Alerus magic and beat SDSU in a couple weeks and roll from there.

Hopefully that game is knock-down drag-out, and then we come in fresh following the bye.  I think we can do this.

Exactly. I want to see a slobber knocker this Saturday.

Hardly worth commenting on when you take some/most of it out of context.  We've had quite of few 9 man OL over the years.   I chalk most of it up to jealousy.

    Yet here you are LOL.

His HS stats are amazing.  What sold me on Tommy is the Sam Houston game.  He was 3rd string QB.  Running the scout team.  True freshman not in the rotation to run the offense.  First string was injured.  Second string started injured in 2nd qtr.  Tommy played amazingly with no reps with first team.  UND beat Sammy.  Next morning I saw Bubba meeting a recruit.  I introduce myself.  Told that kid has ice in his veins.  To this day I believe Tommy is the smartest QB UND has ever had.  The opponent could drop a nuke and Tommy would be looking for the open receiver.  Just a bit of hyperbole.

I've been a fan ever since as well. Kid has stones and you can't teach that.

And how are people supposed to find this?

posted once on a UND site isn’t marketing

need this online and in the paper before each home game and radio ads

    not rocket science

the herald used to have a game day page on game day, I can’t find that anymore either , what happened there ?

This could be heavily marketed online for under $2,000 / month and consider we are looking at a five month season, tops. $10,000 in total marketing could easily generate a positive return in ticket sales over an entire season. Social media (multiple platforms), programmatic display (target people in the area based off of their preferences and interests) and a small search budget on Google. So simple but effective.

Polls are fund to talk about and see where you stack up against the rest of the teams in the country, but they are meaningless.  They have no bearing on the playoff rankings and who does and doesn't make the playhoffs.  So wheile we can complain about our ranking and other teams ranking, it doesn't really matter in the end.

Agreed. It would be really helpful to stomp Youngstown on the road this week.

  9. We get SDSU at home this year and while the odds are they are the favorite, the game is at the AL so who knows what can happen. Regardless the most important game is this Saturday. One week at a time.

I want to see us play well on the road. Then I'll be more optimistic about playoff chances.

Last week is what happens when you play 3 out of 4 weeks on the road. Settle down.

I decided not to even finish out the SIU thread during and after the game.  I'm sure it's all doomsday over there.  I can't say I am happy with the performance on Saturday, but I think that, if, before the season started, a psychic said you will be 2-2 entering the Homecoming game, that's a scenario that most people would take.  Now, a loss of any kind on Homecoming will be damaging for playoff potential, fan interest, etc.  MUST WIN GAME if UND is to remain relevant in 2022.  I am praying all week for Bubba and his staff to figure this one out.

    Spot on all around.

Because I said that the whole argument is dumb, and that I don't get the appeal of seeing an old lady take a sip of beer, but the people screeching about it sending a bad message are out of touch with reality? In other words, "Not my thing, but whatever. You have your fun".

Not sure why that makes me "seem fun", but bless your heart anyway.

LOL cool story but that's not what you said. You may have meant it the way you just described, but that's not what you said. Bless your heart.

Beer Grandma has to be the dumbest controversy to ever come up in these pages. Why is it so important to you to see an old lady take a drink of beer? Why is it a surprise to you that in a time when a ton of attention is paid to binge drinking and underage drinking that a bunch of teetotalers would piss and moan about Beer Grandma and the Ralph would get tired of hearing about it and just stop doing it?

I don't recall; did anyone ever ask Beer Grandma? Maybe she got tired of it and asked them to stop?

    You seem fun.

Not giving up sacks has a lot to do with having Tommy back there.  You can't find too many QBs who are as good at avoiding pressure as he is.

It really is understated as to how good he is at avoiding sacks.

Not sure this needs saying, but I will say it just in case:  You will not be able to sync the video with the radio audio if you are listening on an actual radio (am I dating myself??), as the radio will always be ahead of the video.

I was listening to the online feed. I was able to sync it up. I said nothing about listening to the actual radio.

Able to explain to us losers how to do it?!?

lol on my laptop, one tab was on espn plus. The second tab was on the radio feed. If I remember correctly I paused the video until the audio feed matched it.

If you, have ESPN + it's nice that you can sink up the radio broadcast with the game. It takes a little to sync but I do like Jack, so I do enjoy watching/listening this way.

That's what I did on Saturday. Took a couple minutes of tinkering but was able to get it synced up.

Won't the ESPN+ feed be the home team's broadcast? I think Midco's broadcast may only be available for Midco customers.

I should have been more clear. By "their" I meant the SIU broadcast. Thinking about looking at midco sports plus because our broadcast is top notch.

It’s Midco coverage from here on out, so yes. Going to be great to have Midco for UND’s road conference games.

Right. I assume the espn+feed will be their broadcast.
