We all are enamored with the 300 pound lineman, and I believe that Tank was better at 305 than he was at 290.
But...we have 3 guys at 290.
Plus all of them play against a few 300+ OLs in practice.
Is 10 pounds that big a deal?
Reminds me of MLB. Batter hits 300 he's an all star; bats 290 and he's not.
If we ran a 4-3 I would fully agree with you, but in the 3-4 the nose needs to effectively eat up two blocks on every play. I really do think an extra 10 lbs does make a difference. However, I am happy to see three guys at 290!

The roster seems heavy on WR, (16). Same amount as O-line (16).
I like the 3 big guys at D-line in the 290 range. With Ends Quentin (260lbs), Thorsness (260), and J. Johnson (255) we are close......but not quite there in my opinion.
Agreed. The two guys at 270 are interior and I would like to see them bigger. We are getting close.

Updated Roster just released: https://fightinghawks.com/sports/football/roster
I was lookin at D Line. Three guys at 290 (Morrison, Beach, Orlando) which is nice to see. A couple guys at 270 which is still too small.

Yes let's all freak out and reinstate the restrictions that did not work the first time for a virus that has a 99% survival rate. The 7 day rolling death total is the lowest since this all stated in March 2020. It'a all about control.

I think ndsu is 15 years ahead. NDSU has been building toward this since before coach Bohl.
As college football consolidates NDSU will be one of the few FCS programs needed in the FBS, probably MWC or a greatly changed Big 12. Maybe, as some think a new conference.
A new conference with FCS schools is UNDs best chance, if the university actually has the will to do it
The region is growing. The old D2 NCC schools are now D1 playing FCS because they grew into it. It will be the same for FBS. To be realistic, the only school ready to make that jump is NDSU.
Why
- fargos growing population and prominence.
- NDSUs generational dominance of regional college football including D2 and FCS
- their demonstrated ability to compete with top FBS programs which has built them a huge regional audience and a solid national following.
- Their program resembles an FBS football program in all phases including recruiting, fund raising and coaching.
- They have hosted Gameday twice!
- Their stadium is famous, adequate and can add a large number of suits and several thousand seats. They own 100% of the ticket revenues.
- For the next 10-15 years UND gives half of football ticket revenues of a much smaller arena to pay for the hockey rink. Tough to support an FBS program when you only have claim to revenue from 6,000 seats half of which have been empty for 10 years.
- Media deals
- NDSU fans travel and spend money much to the delight of Frisco and the FBS cities conquered by the bison.
If UND goes undefeated in the scheduled FBS games they will take a big step toward NDSU’s current football status. Financially UND has been weakened by the expensive and abandoned foray into the big sky Revenues from the FCS games is much needed

Once again you don't know what you're talking about: Season ticket base of more than 13,000 signals fans will return to Bison football games | INFORUM
12500 season tickets last year up to 13200 this year. By the way the MWC has been talking to NDSU for the last 6 months. Don't know if anything will come of it but their interested.
If that was true the fargo media would be creaming their pants with multiple articles per week.

We know polls don't mean squat but nice to see us getting some respect, especially since many predicted we wouldn't be able to handle the "bruising" this league hands out. We have a rough schedule so nothing has been proven yet.
Agreed. We have a lot to prove this year and it starts in the shithole known as Holt Arena.

This is going to be messy and from what I can tell there will be a clear separation of the haves and have nots of FBS. This could actually support Volley's (RIP) theory of the bottom of FBS merging with the top of FCS.

As will we. We need to start the season off by exercising some demons at Idaho State. Utah State is a winnable FBS game as well.

I am definitely making the trip!

Definitely great to see but the lines still worry me. I'm going to have to take a look at the depth chart because I am not up to speed right now.

I like where we are in this poll. We have a tough schedule and need to prove it. This team should be 3-0 going into the game with NDSU.
1) Idaho State- We just have to show up and play our game. Shut the run down, pressure the QB and get good DB play. The corner group is the deepest it has likely ever been so time to step up.
2) Utah State- They were not good last year and are not expected to be this year. Play to win, play with an edge.
3) Drake- No response necessary.
