  1. Based on what I have heard and what Jones has said in his interviews he wants players on the floor that are willing to play defense. It has showed much improvement in the last several games as guys are flying around the court and switching men on defense. Possibly Anderson is not showing this in practice as Benton, Stefen and Schuler play very good and sound defense and plus with all the teams playing zone it cuts down Anderson's ability to drive and that was his strongest asset. I still hear the second team gives and beats the first team more often than not in practice cause the second team plays defense and they play as a team versus the first team primarily does neither. I don't think this team has ever had chemistry due to all the selfish play the past 4 years and its finally catching up to them.

I believe you are correct with Anderson. The zone has basically cut out his ability to drive to the hoop and score and Schuler is much better on defense. Anderson I still believe played 27 minutes against Weber so his minutes are not that far down.

  2. Why Nash was in the game the final 10 minutes of the game I will never know. Can't make a shot. Would drive to the lane and throw up a circus shot and not even draw contact. When he would draw contact, more often then not, he would miss the free throw. Why are Salmonson and Calcarerra even on the team if Jones is not gonna play them. Sure Nash is more athletic, but he was absolutely worthless in the Weber game and Jones needs to recognize that.

Schuler is our best shooter and he is sitting on the bench the last 5-6 minutes if the game. seriously?!!! We needed 3's and he is our best three point shooter. I guess Jones thought Nash should be taking those!!

This play of this team has really disappointed me. There is no team game. All they do is pass around the perimeter and then eventually a guy will drive the lane while everyone else just stands around. Not trying to get open or in position for a rebound...just retreating back to play d!! Much of this team has played together for 5 years now. You would think they would show some chemistry and play more team ball. Not sure if that is their fault or coaching. How many outside jump shots not scored in the paint did UND have? Couldn't have been more than 5. The fact that we have Nash and huff drive the lane and draw 2-3 defenders and they can't get it to the open guy for a wide open look I'd rediculous.

This team better figure out how to play team basketball, or they will not only be watching the Big Dance from their couches, but the Big Sky Tournament as we'll!!

Agree 100% spot on. Watch the few minutes of highlights and freeze the frame when Huff and others drive and see how many guys are on them and how many guys are wide open on the wings, its unbelievable in just those few of highlights. Every team is collapsing on all our drive with multiple players cause they know we will not pass it out.

  3. So is this a 100% going to happen put it in the bank thing? I don't want to start celebrating this until its fact and going to happen

It's confirmed from what I have heard. He was sitting near the coaches wife at mid court across from the scorers table.

  4. Have to contain Weber St's big 3:

    Berry G/F 6-4

    Bolomboy F 6-9

    Tresnak C 6-10

I hope we have Salomon because we are going to need the depth today at the post.

NOTE: It looks like they have a nice Fr. Senglin.

Their height in the post is a huge concern. We don't even come close to matching up to their size and scoring in the post. We need to finally shoot lights out to counter all the scoring they will have in the post, especially 2nd chance points.

  5. For a good portion of the second half, Anderson was laying down by the bench with what appeared to be a heating pad on his back. He was standing up and walking around during timeouts. So I'm not sure how serious it was.

Heard he was just trying to stay loose incase he came into the game. No injury to report.

  6. I agree shooters need to get into the flow of the game but with this team our shooters don't get the ball to shoot when they r open. Our shooters like stefen and schuler will never get the shots they need. Hasn't happened with this group of players and don't see it changing.

  8. Montana losing at home to Northern Arizona is a huge shock. The league appears to be so much more balanced this year as Jones has stated and 4-5 loses may win the regular season title. Seems a lot of teams have standout freshmen and junior college transfers. I am curious to see how Southern Utah does at Northern Colorado this Saturday.

  9. gotta beat the spread ;)

Honestly the spread means nothing and who sets the spread? We beat the spread against Wisconsin, Oregon and Butler and that got us 3 loses. We didn't beat the spread against Southern Utah and we got a win. I will take the win no matter what even if we played poorly.

  10. Don't know if anybody caught what the TV announcer said last night about our rebounding. He said it appears the UND players are running to the rim for rebounds and not finding a man and boxing them out. He definitely hit the nail on the head with that one cause game after game we don't box out. Calcaterra our post has only got 7 rebounds in the last 3 games total. Nash is another one that never boxes out just runs to the rim. So many basic fundamentals that are not being done.

  11. I have such mixed feelings on starting Hooker over Webb. On one hand I want to see the "biggest" recruit UND basketball has had in a while but on the other Webb has proven himself for 3+ years and to be honest Hooker has not impressed me at all this far like I have previously said.

I'm also confused about this. Hooker has not proven himself at all so far.

  12. Watching Michigan States game right now and I think our coaches should make our players watch several of there games. They lead the nation in assists and man do they pass the ball to the open man. Its some unbelievable teamwork.

  13. If someone other than Jones makes the "real" decision regarding substitutions, that is amazing - and very concerning!

I'm not so sure it's this way. I've seen Jones many times turn around and say get him out of there or put so and so in. I think for the most part they have a rotation planned but if things go bad with a player or two then Jones makes the decision. We definitely need to cut down our roster on who plays. After watching these last couple of games I would let Webb and Hooker alternate at the 1 with Webb getting 25+ minutes and Hooker around 15. Have Anderson at the 2 and Huff at the 3 with only Schuler backing up the 2 and 3. Take one out for a breather and put Schuler in and then take the other out and move Schuler to the other spot. They would each get around 30 minutes. Have Nash at the 4 for around 30 minutes and Benton for around 10 minutes backup. Start Calcaterra at the 5 with Traylor as the backup and each playing around 20 minutes. This is solid and we would be playing 9 guys max. If there are foul issues then make some minor adjustments with a few other players.
