  1. The UND women are ranked SEVENTH, in rebound margin with 11.1, they average 45 RPG, while the men average 31 RPG. Maybe the coaches need to watch the women rebound and take notes.

Agree, the coaches just need to watch game films and realize none of the big's even attempt to box out. Heck you can see that without watching game films, just pay attention to whats going on during the game.

  2. There are 351 D1 schools and we rank 83rd in FG percentage and 114th in points per game, neither not too bad. We rank 327th in rebounds/game, MMMMMMMMMM. Maybe the coaches should work on something, like boxing out.

  3. So who all watched this game? I only watched the first ten minutes or so and Huff absolutely went off in that time but must have cooled down quite a bit. From looking at the box score it looks like we did a horrendous job of boxing out especially on Solarin because he out-rebounded us alone! I am pleased with the playing time that Stefan had in this game and it looks like he played quite well when he was in. Anyone know why we start Salmonson? He is in there for about two minutes and then Traylor comes in for him.

Maybe Salmonson starts over Traylor because Traylor is always in foul trouble and this holds him back from getting even earlier fouls, who knows. Salmonson, Traylor and Calcaterra not one of them know how to box out and get a rebound but at least with Traylor you get some down low scoring to offset some of the offensive put backs he gives up. What could have been with Brekke I still wonder and every game I watch his loss is bigger and bigger. Outside of Huff I believe Brekke is the next biggest loss for this team to have.

  4. Much better team effort on the offensive end tonight. Shots were distributed very well to all the players. Stefen, Schuler and Antwi all had good nights and contributed the way they should as long as they get shots and tonight they got shots. A lot of good things accomplished tonight with the exception of rebounding. How did we win giving up that many rebounds?

  5. Jones has been preaching sharing the ball. Nash shot 21 times, Huff shot 14 times and 15 free throws and Webb shot 9 times. Outside those the most anyone else shot was 6 times and then a few 2 times. Tell me how that is sharing the basketball? Looks as if we should only put 3 guys on the floor and 2 of those 3 are our worst defenders. I am almost switched over to fire Jones. If he is only going to play 5 guys for almost the entire 40 minutes and we don't share the ball as he preaches I don't expect things to go to well.

Hopefully last night is not how we are going to distribute the ball the rest of the year. We have what I consider 3 shooters ( Anderson, Schuler and Stefen). Stefen played 11 minutes and Schuler only 8. They got only 2 shots each and all we did was give the ball to Huff, Nash or Webb and they drove the ball with absolutely no intentions of passing the ball. I don't care if they score 30 if you are not a threat to pass the ball they are easy to collapse on and make them make tough shots. How many layups and dunks did Weber get from poor shots or turnovers by the ones forcing the shots? Our shooters need to get into the flow of the game and get shots. When we play as a team we have win and when we play like last night and forget about who is wide open and never pass we lose. Which coach is going to figure this out?

  6. He got a talented group with this years seniors, but has shown zero ability to either add to them or coach them up. The Muss of the basketball program.

I agree that maybe they have not been coached up until here lately. He is finally starting to bench a few players for very poor shots and this should have been done 4 years ago and this group would be so much better today. In the last 5 games they are moving the ball better and the shot selection is better and if not for 18 turnovers this last game we would be on a 5 game winning streak. Most of the 18 turnovers were just very poor unforced decisions by experienced players. Hopefully in the future Jones will learn from his mistakes and not let this happen again or just recruit more unselfish players that are more team oriented in high school.

  7. No reason to start Schuler anymore. He hasn't provided much of anything this season. Stefan didn't have the best game tonight but I think him and Schuler need to switch minutes. Stefan deserves more than Schuler. Anderson was very hesitant this game just like this whole year. Where is his confidence!?

Schuler plays the 4 and he should be playing the 2 like he did his freshman year. They started him at the 2 several games ago for Anderson and he averaged almost 10 pts/game at the 2 and then they moved him back to the 4 where he is undersized and playing underneath and is difficult for him to shoot over guys 5" taller than him. He is best at the 2 or 3. Game was lost by the turnovers starting the 2nd half and then it continued thru the entire half by the point guards.

  8. UND's last home game is March 1st against EWU, UND is AT UNC on March 4th and the last game of the year is March 6th at SUU. February 6th is the game UND needs to win...at Weber State. Lets show them we can beat the best in the BSC on their home court.

Nope that is not correct. UND has already played at Northern Colorado the first league game this year. The game on March 4th is a home game against UNC, check the schedule.

  9. How big is hte March 4th game against No. Colorado gonna be?! Huge in relation to Big Sky standings. Oh yeah, and its Senior Day and the last game of the year. Circle this one on the calander.

Agree that will be a huge game however since the last home game is on a Tuesday they have moved the official "Senior Day" to Saturday March 1st so hopefully there will be more in attendance and easier for the families of the seniors to attend for the weekend versus on a Tuesday.

  10. NODAK, you seriously need to get a hobby buddy if your still so stressed out about UND hoops. It's a new week kid. Get over it!

Not stressed, everyone knows what the problems are with this team and yet they come on a video and talk all team and preach all team and hardly every play team. If they did play the way they talk then we would have won half the games we've lost. Last game they did a better job, lets see if it carries over to tonight and saturday and I am hoping it does.

  11. AGREED

I'm confused by this. What are you looking at to form this opinion? Schuler never gets attention but always does what is asked and with limited touches every game he could have been the most unheralded 1000 point scorer in history. Also, his assist to turnover ratio is 2-1 for his career so he protects the ball very well and takes great shots. So far this year his shot is just off but I expect him to start shooting like he is capable. I personally like it when both Schuler and Stefen are in at the same time but there is nothing to show Stefen is better. Both guys need to play minutes and hopefully both will get out of their shooting funk. Stefen will be a huge part for UND next year and may be the 2nd or 3rd best scorer with this senior class gone.

  12. It didn't. Players currently in the program cannot transfer without sitting out a year. Players who have signed a letter of intent can ask out of their obligation, and this is usually granted.

That is not true. If a coach moves on or is fired the player can petition the school for release of his scholarship and in most cases the school releases the player and then again in almost all cases the NCAA will allow this player to transfer without sitting out. Stefen and 4 other Green Bay players were in a similar situation and none of them had to sit out. The coach didn't leave but there were many issues regarding the coach. This happens every year when coaches leave.

  13. Everyone must realize also if Jones if fired than all players and future recruits basically have the ability to transfer without sitting out a year and who know who we might lose. Jones has gotten the best players he can get and unfortunately a lot of these players have the talent but not the fundamental skills required nor team work required at this level and they sure haven't learned them while here which is the bad part of Jones not getting them to learn. Someone mentioned we may have the best talent in the league but talent does not win if there is no chemistry or teamwork, never has and never will.

  14. Three starters did not score (Nash, Webb, Calcaterra). Don't know why Nash did not play more but I don't remember Nash playing in the second half. Huff, Anderson and Schuler scored double digits and not much more. Once again poor shot selection and the interior defense was awful. At this point I do not see this team making the conference tournament.
