my black velvet "dogs playing poker" picture in my living room had more moves than that Norwegian goalie Too much Lutefisk in the pre-game meal?? UUFFFDDAA!!!
Not really...some "other" ND school has "kicked" other major DI schools like Michigan, Michigan State, MINNESOTA, et al in Division I sport and is actually considered a rival by some?? Wanna guess who?
that's HHHAAA-vadd! (for all you east coast yahoos!)
(one of) THE BEST QUOTES EVER!!...
(2 years ago when UND was playing Yale)
Reporter: "So what do you know about Yale?"
Bochenski: "not much but I suppose they're really SMART!"
Bochenski....AHEAD of his time:-)
(
Talked to Northern Iowas AD Rick Hartzell a couple years ago (who wasn't the AD at the time of the move) and asked him straight out...knowing what you know now...would you make the move to DI? He said no, too expensive and "opportunities for national success are suprisingly few and far between." Schools "like us" can't compete on the real DI level and "alumni are hesitant to write a big check" when about all you can aspire to is a "conference championship."
Seems like if you want to sell out ALL your athletic programs for possible success at the di-AA level in FB(which CoachDags correctly points out is basically a glorified DII) - go ahead and do it! Just be aware of the consequences....
WOW!! APPALACHIAN STATE!! That is a HUGE name in football!!! Makes me want to crawl on my knees over broken glass and buffalo head nickels to beat a big-time division one-AA football name like that I'm sure the ag college would have rolled over them IF ONLY they were playoff eligible....
I saw Appalachian Emergency Room on SNL last nite...does that count?
At a minimum...I'd want to see BSU upgrade their facilities before they'd be considered for the WCHA - we're the premier league for facilities far and away. I think their convention center proposal would work - even though it's small by WCHA standards.
