the bottom line of this whole thing is...UND blew it back when the Ralph was being built. Let me explain... Remember after the gift was announced and the Ralph was going up? The whole nickname issue got stirred up then BUT we had allies who were on our side. (Eric Enno ring a bell?) They helped bring in tribal elders to talk with athletes about Sioux history and traditions with UND's "promise" to build stronger ties with the reservations. I remember Ambrose Little Ghost talking to a big assembly about traditions and waching Jeremiah Holy Bull do his fancy dancing before several BB and Hky games that was VERY well received - it appeared to be the start of a real educational connection! Then as soon as the media heat came off, UND officials lost interest in sustaining any long term relationship with the Spirit Lake tribe...that was the mistake! If UND had solidified and expanded their connections and seriously promoted the interest that was out there then - they might now have had the REAL backing of at least one tribe that the NC$$ considers ROCK SOLID instead of the wishy-washy "uh - okay I guess" resolutions they're trying to push as "resolutions of support" now. They should have seen this coming and done more to expand the relationship when they had the opportunity! So I guess my point is we have no one to blame but ourselves...

well...I was a little skeptical about Wisconsin too but after meeting a lot of Bucky-ites going to the afternoon session in Milwaukee to cheer on a fellow conference member - that swayed me a little. Granted - the badgers have their share of *sses! (don't ALL teams? ) but I think they're easier to get along with on a whole than other NAMELESS teams (or TEAM) in the league. So congrats to Wisco to keeping up the WCHA dominance! What is it? 7 of the last 6 from the WCHA now?

I'm also curious? Do you ever get any comments from anyone in NJ about the UND flag? Questions?

My favorite thread was about how "horrified" a Bison fan was who came up with some Gopher buddies that UND fans would actually cheer AGAINST "fellow conference member" Minnesota - they have A LOT to learn! Most of the recent threads were started by Bison fans and the vast majority of replies were from Bison fans while it's been WEEKS since the Ag college came up in any significant conversation here. I think it's just driving them nuts knowing we're having a BLAST and all they can do is sit around and pee in their own pool. At least they have two weeks of front page Sioux Hockey coverage in the FORUM to look forward too!

That too! I'd love to know how much they make in that whole deal off of people who don't get tickets. (and this is for Hockey - never mind DI Basketball tickets! ) Remember in that old 1980's Richard Pryor movie "The Toy" - he managed to get the 1/4 cent rounded off employees paychecks in his huge company routed to an expense check for himself and it amounted to several thousand dollars in a week? Oh but with the NC$$ it's all about the student-athlete - right!

Theoretically but you're not supposed to cut that tag off your mattress either Here's one sneaky way the NC$$ makes even MORE off FF tickets. If you want some for next year - you have to sign up and PAY by credit card up front. Then they hold a lottery a couple months later - notify the winners and refund the money to people who didn't get tickets BUT they've taken your money and earned interest off of it while they had it. Nice, huh?

I watched the whole 4 1/2 hour marathon but because it was tape-delayed I didn't want to check in here if I accidentally ran into the score but WHAT A MARATHON! At first I was hoping Cornell would win to get rid of Wisconsin but the more I watched their goalie - the more nervous I got. He turned away TONS of shots and was impressive right down to the last goal (not his fault!) Since Wisco won...the CHEESY moment of the game goes to Robbie Earl. Granted, he probably was exhausted but the video of him CRAWLING to the bench was a bit much. The announcers, caught in the historical moment, said... "When fans remember this game decades from now...they'll remember that image. Robbie Earl CRAWLING to the bench..." Geez I hate to be a Robbie Earl critic but 2 minutes after he crawled to the bench he was back for a shift and seemed fine. THEN HE DID THE CRAWL AGAIN (I guess in case the cameras didn't catch it the first time) and was BACK for another shift minutes later The other players were also extremely tired but I didn't see anyone else crawling... Am I alone in my opinion Robbie is not only an ******** but ALSO a DRAMA QUEEN?

I have an address (direct to the WCHA) if anyone is interested in obtaining a "CORRECTED" WCHA poster - pm me ..apparently there was a little pissing match because this was an NCAA event and NOT a WCHA event and the Ralph had to put the stock into storage for the next "conference" event next season (thanks! )

It's amazing what 11,000 hockey fans will do for a big arena instead of a 7,000 hockey fans and 4,000 people who got tickets from whereever and just want to visit or talk on their cellphones. THE RALPH was ROCKING - 2nd only to the TeamCanada fans antics during the World Jr's. and it was a GREAT ATMOSPHERE for hockey. Two things really stand out... 1- The way the arena ERUPTED when Holy Cross beat the Goofs...that was one for the ages! Those guys will never forget that. 2- The way a lot of empty seats (Gopher fan bailouts) seemed to fill up when time was running out on the Championship game. The gates were open and I actually saw people coming in late (and FREE!) to toast the Sioux victory. The roar at the end of the game was spine-tingling! AWESOME! Imagine if we had a crowd like that at every game WITH a full student section and the band in the lower bowl... What a way to send the guys to Milwaukee!

thanks - I'm forwarding this link to a friend who just about fell over when I sent him some home vid from Columbus of an OSU fan making a sign for the Frozen Four championship game last year that spelled out..."MICHIGAN SUCKS!" - even though it was UND and Denver in the Championship game!

I think they'd be a LITTLE pissed if they "mistakenly" announced "What do you GOPHERS want on your TOMBSTONE*?" at any point in the tourney They're the best bet to get to the bottom of this. *I'd say "chewy!" - unless you really boil it!
