Awesome UND fan turnout at the game last night. We nearly had a whole section behind the team and still more green jerseys scattered in every corner of the place. I was at T's before the game and met a lot of nice Sioux fans from ND and New England alike. I never made it over to Sunset Cantina -- how was the crowd over there?

Agree with everything you said, especially this!

Judging by the large number of seats still available on Ticketmaster, your chants might carry some weight. Here's a fail safe: "Let's Go Sioux".

I've actually never been to either, but I know they're the 2 main Terrier fan traditions on game days. I talked with a BU alum today who said that Sunset Cantina (across Comm Ave from Agganis) might be a better option if UND fans wanted to congregate for drinks. T's is definitely "The BU pub". I'm going to have BU and UND fans in my party, and several of us have Friday off so we'll probably be out early and stopping at all of the above.

ND transplant living in the Boston area here. I've assembled a local group of 9 for Friday's game. They're all new to UND hockey, but I told them I'm buying drinks beforehand for anyone wearing green. :] Most were happy to oblige, especially the Northeastern alumni who can't stand the Terriers. So we should have a good-sized crew in the 2nd/3rd rows of section 110. I'm also going on Saturday. For those new to town, T. Anthony's Pizza and T's Pub are the main meetup spots near Agganis. Safe travels!

The quality of both the audio and video of the stream were terrible. The audio levels changed more than once, and it sounded like it was being broadcast through a walkie talkie. Meanwhile the video resolution, if viewed at any appreciable size, was unwatchable. The color was lousy. I don't like to whine, but most cell phones these days record higher quality audio and video. And this is a paid service, after all. This is a real disappointment for those of us living outside the region who rely on these streams.

My thoughts exactly. I think you definitely achieved your goal of wanting to make it look old-timey even though it's a totally new design. I can't wait to see the others!

I agree. All things considered, they could be worse. I also agree with Big A HG's blog that the "EST 1883" just seems out of place. If they use a similar design on the men's jerseys, perhaps it would look nice to fill that space with seven stars.

Good points. You touched on a few intangible qualities that I think make Hak a great coach. The above comment stands out in particular, because it reminds me of something he said in a press conference a few years ago regarding the Sioux name, "...quite simply put, before we go out and play, we say 'Let's go play Sioux hockey.'" A few people on here have said they wouldn't trade Hakstol for anyone. I get the feeling that the reverse is also true -- he wouldn't take any other job over this one. That's another reason I think he's a perfect fit for the program, and I'm happy to have him as our head coach.

What an irresponsible move by Atkinson. Part of the criteria for picking the Hobey recipient is exhibiting strong character...no doubt the selection committee will shake their heads when they find out that he announced this a day before the press release! Considering the the final announcement is April 8th, is it safe to say that Frattin's performance the night before against MI will not affect his chances to win the award? I imagine all the voting will be finished at least a couple days in advance of the final announcement.

He's averaging 1.5 goals per game in the last 2 months. Keep it up, Aaron!

Here's a clip from this week's Sports Illustrated, which refers to Frattin as the leading contender.

jdub, you're a lifesaver -- Thanks! Now major portions of my weekend will be absorbed by the tournament...that's not a complaint.

Thanks, Jim! I'm holding back the urge to put 3 WCHA teams in the Frozen Four...
