Damn I hate that program. Just too good

Gotcha

Wish for SB to win, man ... theyre up on #2 ... W for SB would be huge for UND come playoff time
-
We are also confident because UND has lost its first 2 games (both road games) by a combined 5 points and South Dakota got crushed by New Mexico and narrowly beat Weber State at home. Yes, UND being at home helps, so you're on to something there. I don't see how USD being in a different conference (MVFC) instantly makes them better than UND in the Big Sky Conference, especially since South Dakota has struggled in the MVFC. I will admit the win against NDSU last season was impressive for USD. I disagree with your score prediction. I'm not guaranteeing a UND win, but I'm confident. Go Hawks!
-
I'm confident in UND's ability to get the job done. Should be a good game. You've overlooked UND's defensive ability; far better than Weber State and even FBS New Mexico.
-
I would guess NDSU's success produces a huge comparison issue for UND to put up with. People from here are familiar with both UND and NDSU, obviously, and relatively speaking, we all know which school's football team the average fan would label "good" and "bad". Its a tough pill to swallow for some of us longtime supporters, but it's reality. NDSU steals plenty of UND's potential momentum. Winning and this year's lack thereof (0-2) definitely contributes, but the pull factor and bandwagon-type situation with the school an hour to the south is a huge factor as well. Want to see consistent sellouts? Hope for a bunch of UND wins and a bunch of NDSU losses. Obviously it makes the most sense to focus on what UND can control and that's its win and loss record.
-
North Dakota's population and prep football system is obviously a challenge, so don't gloss over that. With that said, every year there are a few DI caliber kids from ND that UND needs to, and recently has, recruit. NDSU has been tough to UND in that regard, but UND needs to continue to press North Dakota and Minnesota hard as its pipeline. Bubba knows this. I agree a couple kids from outside the UND area every recruiting cycle is just fine if they are potential difference makers *WITH* the characteristics of good student-athletes and citizens.
-
USD's QB is a former Gopher commit. I know we talk about minimizing FBS transfers and such, but taking a few FBS drop-downs from local teams (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, etc.) probably is not a bad idea. I understand the importance of player development, but if you can acquire Big 10 level talent, it may be worth a shot.
-
I respectfully disagree, but I suppose it is worth a try as long as a class with Florida and California players doesn't backfire and leave a huge recruiting gap as a result.
-
Looks good on paper, but are those Florida boys really going to want to stick around here for 4 to 5 years? Doubtful. There's plenty of "speed" to find in Minneapolis, Chicago, Denver, etc. and those kids are familiar with cold weather. It's just a matter of making it a priority and then capitalizing on it; easier said than done but winning and making the playoffs will help tremendously. FBS wins are really good for recruiting purposes too (for direct comparison sake) as are facility upgrades. Memorial Stadium just doesn't allow UND to compete in terms of coaching offices, meeting rooms, locker rooms, etc. Desperate need area in terms of upgrade; need phase II of HPC complete ASAP.
-
Many attributes make up a good football player; many more than solely speed. Yes, UND football needs more speed, but it needs it in the form of more overall talented football players. Smart, tough, physical attributes are very important to UND football, as I think they should be. Those attributes are recruitable to here in North Dakota and Minnesota. To make things simple, UND needs to recruit some fast players that are overall good football players. Tough to do because the kids with both good numbers and good tapes are the ones going to the Big 10. But, as facilities improve and, hopefully, wins start coming, UND should be in the running for some of that top tier talent in ND, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
-
This should happen eventually, at least I hope it does. Would look very sharp.
-
The kid chose NDSU over UND and beat up on UND last season which stings, but that doesn't change the fact that he did outstanding in his first NFL start as a rookie. I hate NDSU football with a passion but I have nothing but respect for Wentz. Not to mention, him being from North Dakota is spectacular.
-
Want to have great crowds the rest of the year? Win this thing going away. UND stunk up the place last season in the home opener against Drake with a narrow victory that included no second half scoring. Add in the blowout the next week against NDSU and you get the downward spiral of attendance that progresses throughout the season. UND needs to perform very well on Saturday to give the crowd a good reason to come back again and again in the subsequent weeks.
-
That's going to be my favorite home look, I think. I guess I have to see it before making my final decision.
-
Oh goodness. Given the importance of this game for UND, I expect the Hawks to be flyin' high with coyote meat come Saturday night.
-
I could have worded my previous post better. I am not guaranteeing a UND victory on Saturday. After losing to Stony Brook (just not a good team, I'm sorry to those making the "top D excuse"), UND is just not as good as we had initially hoped/expected. That could change due to the amount of season left, and, hopefully, it does. With that unfortunate truth said, I still think UND is going to play a very inspired game on Saturday given the positive 2nd half performance at Bowling Green and the Potato Bowl home crowd. UND *should* get the win on Saturday if they haven't regressed.
-
Trust me, UND knows they NEED this win. It will get done because they also know 0-3 is bascially a hole that does not allow them to accomplish their season goals. Most importantly, UND is not a 0-3 team in terms of talent; in fact, UND could easily be 2-0 right now. Nevertheless, UND will be playing like their pants are on fire on Saturday because this a big game for their aspirations in 2016; it is also the home opener, potato bowl, and old regional rivalry game.
-
I too enjoyed the green pants, white jersey, and green helmet look.
-
Pack the place! Alerus needs to be 1) full ,but most importantly, 2) loud!!! The team feeds off this. Ask any player, coach, or former player and they'll tell you the same thing. Build up the momentum for this thing. UND is 0-2 and desperately needs a win. What better way to get UND rolling for the conference schedule than a blow out win versus South Dakota?
-
Yup. Luck will change eventually, I hope. UND is 0-2 but oh so close to being 2-0. Stings dammit it stings
-
Huge letdown
-
If Brady Oliveira keeps that up the middle, he picks up the first down. Yards are available but UND just needs to execute a bit better.
-
Beautiful opening offensive drive for UND. they shut me up UND needs to keep it up! It's in sight, fellas!
