  1. The schedule should be bad for this year. They're just lucky that Cal-Davis, UNC, and SDSU are with them. Next year should be the interesting schedule. If you can't start getting decent home games by year two, the luster will certainly wear off.

What are the odds on UMC playing against NDSU next year?

Anyone have Northern Colorado's, SDSU's, or Cal-Davis schedule handy?

  2. I think BC is going to have their hands full in UNH beats Michigan. Playing UNH on their home rink levels the playing field a bit. They split the series they had a couple weeks back.

UNH isn't on their home rink. It's by them, but not where they regularly play. Now if you'd said "home ice advantage," then I'd agree with you. But that would be against Gopher ice site logic.

  3. 3. Notre Dame kills giants (BC and Maine). Briggs is young will not hold up in the tourney. I predict a Notre Dame upset. Michigan State worries me also, but I think the Dogs will prevail.

Shoot. You beat me to the punch. A few weeks back when I was looking at who I didn't want to see the Sioux face early and Notre Dame came up. They've beaten very good teams on the road. It also wouldn't shock me to see Notre Dame win.

Duluth is the other team I don't want to face. Beating a team 5 times in a row is tough enough, but 6? Man would that be a chore. Are those injuries truly healed?

  4. This sounds a little familiar, can you say Parise.

I have never watched a player skate through as much crap as Parise. When he does go down he gets right back up. The longest I've seen him on the ice all year was against UAA on Friday.

When you get something intelligent and insightful to post, please come back. Heck, even if you have a joke you can come back.

  5. I also liked how UMD and the UMN had a mascot. I was trying to think of what we could use as a mascot but really couldn't think of any. I would love to dress up as the mascot if we ever had one and go around to each different section getting the crowd all fired up.

We had one in 90s. Thunder. You had to love his first entrance into Englestad with AC/DC's Thunder Struck being the intro music. I went to a hockey game and thought that the WWF had taken over. ;)

  6. My grandma who's been going to the Final Five since it permanently moved to Minnesota isn't renewing her tickets. She told me the Gopher fans were the worst she's witnessed and doesn't want to deal with it anymore (this includes BC when they won in 2001). Plus, she takes the games too seriously. Maybe that's all of our problems.

  7. I would normally agree, but the reason why I said JPar vs Holy Cross was for the sole purpose of giving JPar valuable tourney experience for when Brandt graduates. I do realize that Brandt is only a junior and there is always next season, but with Lammy coming in, who knows.

Oh well. I'm not Blais so, just my opinion.

I don't think you want to play Parise so that he's ready for next year. It's about this year (we may not go next year) and one goalie needs to play all the way through. However, I do believe that Parise got some good experience playing in the Final Five.

  8. From victorysports.com

Looks like they are planning on live coverage. I agree Victory sucks - who does Pohlad think he is, Ted Turner?

It would be terrible on NCAA and Victory if they tape delay everything.

  9. I get the feeling that the NCAA TV schedule will change.

EDIT: I'm hoping it'll change. Like a few more games getting on. I'm hoping for some tape delays or replays.

  10. I liked how every coach avoided answering each question.

Also, the Northeast (BC) and Midwest (UM) seem to be the toughest regions. I think the Sioux got the easiest. Denver is missing Conner James and who knows on Miami as they are a CCHA team. I think that conference was down this year.

  11. True. I could stand to hear a whole lot more sports talk. PA & Dubay do a great job but other shows on the FAN are terrible about it. The Common Man is about as interesting to listen to talk about sports as JBSU has NCAA championsips (ZERO!)

The problem with LA radio stations is that they would be talking about the Lakers and whining how they need a football team.

Nah, it's all Lakers. During college fb they pre empt Laker coverage to talk about USC for five minutes. :D

Seriously, though, KFAN has/had that commercial about covering the 97th round of the NFL draft and saying they aren't going to do that. The bad news is that they don't talk about sports at all. There is more going on in sports than just Minnesota. If you can't get enough material in Minny, pick up a national show. I don't mind diverging from sports once in a while, but don't call yourself a sports radio station if you don't talk about sports 90% of the time.

  12. I'm back in GF for a few days and I'm instantly reminded why KFAN sucks. NO SPORTS TALK! After noon there is nothing. I guess I've been spoiled in LA where there are like 6 stations.

  13. So now most UND fans have to get up early to drive to the Cities, not knowing what the roads will be like. Yeah, that seems real fair. Oh wait, we could leave Thursday and pump even more money into the Minnesota economy by staying in a hotel an extra night. Yeah, that seems fair as well. :glare:

The league will never know if Minny draws in the afternoon until they play in the afternoon. They'll never know if teams like UND and UMD can draw at night until they are given their right to play at night. I cannot agree with anyone's argument on this until it is actually proven by fan attendance.

FSN is a joke. I suppose the Sioux webcast won't be allowed either.

  14. It is getting very interesting now. If CC wins two games this weekend, they may qualify as the last #4 seed.

Then the NCAA will be forced to choose which rule they want to protect the most.

    1. Seed the #1s closest to home.

    or

    2. Avoid interconference matchups.

My gut says that CC won't qualify unless they win the FF. Which they won't. They are also in a nasty situation where losing to AA, a non-TUC might be the best thing for them.

It is getting very sticky for the bottom teams.

IF CC makes it, I believe they have to be placed in Colorado. That would push UND to Michigan and I can see BC getting sent to Colorado to keep away from the intradivision. I believe Maine's RPI could become better than BC's (with bonuses, who knows?) and then Maine wins that comparison. BC leads UMD and UM 3-0 in comparison. However, BC has not played well lately and I think that should be taken into account. I'm not sure if any ranking formula does that. Also, it avoids the intradivision first round.

  15. Too bad for BSU, but that only means that we have to play the same cupcake from last season :glare:

All things aside, for some reason I wish Findlay would have upset everyone and made the autobid. For some of those kids, Findlay was their only shot at DI hockey and now they're done. Kinda feel sorry for them.

Last year we lost to Ferris St. We played Niagra in 2001.

I would have liked to see BSU make it. Though I think they could've been a tough game for whoever played them.
