In the 5 fb seasons prior to 2023 UNC won a total of 13 games and never more than 3 in one year.  So yes it could get a lot worse.

    big sky sucks

It looked to me like he followed through, too.  Otherwise, tough call.

assuming he is following thru thinking that his elbow will hit the out of the control guy in his chest but ....

Kleven was called for a 5 and a game for far less

that's kinda what I'm (the the TV guy) hinting at.....the Omaha guy was totally out of control and went into the goofs elbow.

For the record, YSU is broke and the MAC hasn't shown interest in them.  I also don't see why YSU would be interested in joining Summit football without the MVFC schools.  Travel would be way worse, and they would have to play SDSU and NDSU every year, and the program is already barely hanging on, middle of the pack.

That said, I still don't think Summit starting football with the MVFC schools is off the table, especially if Missouri State bolts.  Although I don't agree about YSU, I do think Indiana State could very well shut down their FB program any point as well.  Should Missouri State bolt, I'd like to a great riff between the public and private schools develop within the MVC, and if they add schools, hope that they are private, don't have FB, and are East or SE of the current footprint.

LIttle harsh on YSU .....they were in the title game just a few years ago, have a nice(r) indoor PF and their stadium is decent and nicely sized.  If this does happen and 7 teams come together you only have 6 conf games and they can make more money playing OSU, MSU, and whatnot in non conference.

  5. Rumor has it that Missouri State is getting an FBS invite to sun belt or cusa...can't remember which but...

If they leave MVFC would be down to 10 football teams....4 Summit, 5 Missouri Valley, and 1 Horizon.

YSU has wanted FBS (MAC) football for a long time and they are a wild card FCS or otherwise.

Let's say Fenton does announce Summit Football and offers affiliate status to YSU whether it's FCS or FBS....they would take that offer imo. That would put it 5-5...Summit v MVC. At that point it's all eyes on St Thomas....add 5k more seats to current stadium and it's bigger and probably nicer than the USD's. If they bump from Pioneer (which is for sure a short term thing imo) and they joint Summit Football ...Bob's your Uncle...u got 6 and Summit League Football.

UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU, St Thomas, and YSU (affiliate..in terms of compettiion..either Summit or MVFC...easy choice for YSU imo)

IF that does happen the MVFC would consist of the powerhouses of ISUr, ISUb, SIU, UNI, and Murray State.

At that point is  UNI poachable to the Summit League (oly, FB and potentially Summit hockey down the road (arena)?  If UNI leaves could Drake join too (oly and FB?) Package deal?

You can see why Murray State was added......but Fenton is smarter than Jackson.

That makes, the RSN model is pretty much dead and high school sports are tough as a money maker. I can see nchc.tv folding in, and would love to see the Dakota 4 muscle MVFC into it as well. I could see them making a play for CCHA and Northern Sun as well

this has Fenton's fingerprints on it........u knew that midco's vision was bigger than high school and whatnot so you knew that was coming...

Fenton and Midco are probably working on bringing everything under one umbrella...More money, more visibility, and more cohesion.  MVFC, Summit, NCHC=Summit League

Summit League-olympic sports, hockey (add St Thomas for sure....wildcards=Augie or Minny State?), and football (FBS?)

if Summit Football  (FBS or not) is an option he has to get 2 or more to join the Dak 4....Northern Iowa, St Thomas, Drake? or Omaha brings back FB?  Minnesota State?

    THERE'S FENTON

    Got it.
So then a guy like Hunter Johannes...he scored 29pts last season with Lindenwood and 18pts this season at UND.
Using your same theory, that means he was surrounded by more talent last season at Lindenwood?

    :crazy::D

he's asked to play a different role considering he's not the one the most talented offensive guys onthe team......at lindenwood he probably was.

    What about the opposite then?
Like Cameron Berg or Garrett Pyke -- both had their best seasons ever statistically this year since transferring to UND from UNO and UAF.

Culture?  Blame Berry?  Systems?  Those coaches didn't yell enough?  ;):D

neither uno or uaf have a guy like blake and others (perron /gaber)....they are playing with more talent around them.

Question for you... was Minnesota not motivated when they lost to Quinny in OT last year? Was Miami not motivated when BU came back late from down two and won in OT in 2009? Was UND not motivated when we lost to Michigan in St. Paul in 2011?

humpty dumpty pretty much wet the bed in that game......took the foot off the gas and everyone saw it.

that was all on him...plus that designed play by pecky to start ot was legendary.

Maybe Berry doesn’t put enough emphasis  into this big games , staying even keel and his team shows up flat at times , (Nashville , Las Vegas any Nchc games  at the Xcel. Not sure because I’m not in the locker room but in his 8 year run that’s is MO like it or not. Not saying you yell and scream but man try something different. He coached with Hakstol so he saw what it took to play well at the end of the year.

for almost 40 years straight dave has ended his season as a player or coach with a loss.
