  1. I vaguely remember that incident happening a few rows away. I remember the cheers too. I once gave a dude $50 to shut his obnoxious mouth at the Final Five.
  2. Looks like the D protecting the house and his goalie...I think they call that hockey where I come from
  3. I am with you regarding the "f the Gophers" chant- no class. We're better than that. "Sioux Forever" well, I can live with that for now...in a few more years it too shall pass. This was the first time Minnesota has played the Fighting Hawks at home, so I will let it slide.
  4. on the scoresheet. I've seen him on the ice : )
  5. First points towards the Pennarossa!
  6. If Minny kills the 5, then they bring a ton of momentum and energy. Instead, we hang 3 goals on them. 5's are so critical. Score 2 on a 5 and you should never lose. Kill it, and you should never lose.
  7. I think the officials had to call that a 5 in order to maintain control of the game. They know that a Gopher-Sioux match-up is a tinder box, and you can't risk it spiraling. If that's a 2, then "the edge" gets established a little further out...I actually thought the officials did a great job in term of establishing what was a penalty and then calling the game consistently. Maybe a make-up call on the one, but for the most part they set the rules of the game. That's all you ask of the officials- set the boundaries and then call it consistently.
  8. Bast is an instant boost to our blue line. Great player. Wolanin on a different level right now. Kid is good. mismash quietly putting up a point per game...great players do that. They end up on the scoresheet even when they don't dazzle...and when they do dazzle...look out. adams and Jones arguably our 2 best forwards at the moment. Who'd have thunkit? cam steadily driving that career gaa down to 2... pogo and gersich not scoring like we need them to, but are causing enough angst that we are winning the line match up battles deeper in our roster...exactly what a depth team needs to do.
  9. I was so pumped up for this game. We came out and just rolled them the first 10. As a whole, we carried the play. They make one really good rush and score, and then a guy makes a perfect shot. Meanwhile, we throw everything we can at them and cant put it in. Jeez. Talk about frustrating. I think there was interesting difference in approach. I think berry had the boys all jacked up. I think Lucia made a point of it not being a big deal. End of the day, we lose, and now absolutely have to win tomorrow from a PWR perspective. Just frustrating when we carry the play and lose.
  10. Losers talk about doing their best. Winners go home and F the prom queen. Sean Connery
  11. have we ever lost a game where we gave up 16 shots on goal before????
  12. You have to score 2 goals...period...less than that and you lose
  13. we seriously allowed less than 20 shots and lost
  14. Absolutely sucks to outplay a team and lose
  15. I don't think we dominate as much tomorrow. Have to find a way to get quality shots through. Minnesota collapsed in front of the net and made it almost impossible.
  16. f'ng domination on everything but the scoreboard. NO FINISH on this team right now. Pleased with how we dominated- reminds me a lot of a Frozen Four loss to Michigan
  17. They have a very talented lineup. We need to play 60 minutes of Sioux hockey! Long 2 hours to wait...
  18. Perfect motivation. Hopefully it makes the boys come out and blow them out of the zamboni door. 5 hours...feels like an eternity.
  19. Side note- I'm 41. Nothing compares to when the Gophers are in town. I love to win, but with the Gophers I HATE to lose.
  20. Rivalries require time. They require history and tradition. Pain and Joy of a collective fan base. Those of us over 30 have vivid memories of battling the Gophers on the way to championships- the road to which ran through GF or Mariucci many times. I can see kids under 20 not having that same collective memory and thus not appreciating what made the rivalry. It wasn't the fights, the fights were the by-product. It was the games for titles and to keep seasons alive, where both teams were great. The rivalry was electric, especially in the 80's and the 2000's. Gophers were a dynasty in the 70's and the Gino era led to super competitive games, in the 80's, UND won 3 titles, but the Gophers had amazing records and just couldn't finish. In the 2000's both teams were awesome and some of those games, especially at the Final Five were legendary. Loaded with future NHLers.
  21. I miss Sweeney so badly!!! i remember that scrum. You only get a piece of it on this clip, but I remember Frattin had a Gopher in each hand and was jerking them both around like rag dolls.
  22. Right. I'm a 41 year old 230 pound dad, and I can do 3-5 depending on the day.
  23. Totally cool for fans to do it. Uncool for Jumbotron or for the team or University or REA to do it.
  24. Cole Smith needs to introduce himself formally to young Mittlestadt
