  1. Make up call for what might've been a penalty coming out of the SIoux zone on that last goal... Junk officiating this weekend. If there is a fight tonight, it is pure and simple because the refs did not do their job
  2. Just keep it simple- do some give and gos. How about 4 corners on the pp- 2 point men, a guy at the bottom of each circle, and a guy in the slot
  3. This is difficult to watch...AWFUL PP
  4. Sandy has one as an Assistant Coach in 1997, one as an Associate Head Coach in 2000, and one as a Head Coach in 2011.
  5. We are just awful in our own end. I don't understand it. All these draft picks can't be physically slower than our opponents, but they sure look slower. Move the puck and move the feet. Play physical and play aggressive. This is not a passive, thinking game. Its about attacking and reacting .
  6. I don't think anyone has called for Bubba's head- everyone is just saying that it appears that the D have taken a step backwards, and that is unacceptable- I would also guess that he has worked individually with every one of the D since the minute he was hired.
  7. Wow- Hak read my mind. Read my post on the Friday game. Only thing I did differently was who I had partnered on d. I thought it made sense to protect Panzo with Mac in his first game back...
  8. I agree that MacMillan has played really well at center of late. I do think he is a skilled enough player to be the offensive creator on a line. I just hate to stack a line so heavily...although it would give the Dogs fits...
  9. Tonight I would like to see: Knight with MacMillan and Kristo Grimaldi with Caggiula and St Clair Rowney with Gaarder and O'Donnell Chyzk with Pattyn and Rodwell Mac and Panzo Forbert and Schmaltz Simpson and Mattson Zane
  10. Lazy, poor passing, no team play, standing around in our own zone...poor, poor effort. Agree with the posters on the lack of results from Bubba. Defense needs work, big time. Gleason needs to sit- he was brutal. BRUTAL, and has been the past few weekends. Schmaltz looks like a boy playing with men in the physical department. Our breakout continues to suck as well as our powerplay- hmmm- defense and powerplay sucks...that's on Berry. Breakout still sucks, year over year, that is on Hak. Now, I know we "always" turn it around, but the 3 biggest issues right now are coached. I'd actually say 4, because effort has been lackluster too. I don't call for Hak's ouster ever, but this teams current issues are on him. Time for him to figure it out.
  11. I don't blame Lemieux. You gotta go where you can play. Especially as a 16 year old. You need to develop, and skating 3rd/4th line behind 20 year olds isn't going to cut it.
  12. LOL..I'm surprised they could remember that far back, considering they were all 30
  13. curious how you think it is easier to skate than walk? Glide maybe, but certainly not skating in a D1 hockey game...stops and starts, hard turns working all 4 edges...not to mention getting hit...
  14. Agree, but the Hall of Fame coach exploited it and his team won the game. edit: Dominated play most of the third and won the game
  15. He has been awesome drawing double attention to himself with some nice cross ice moves, then passing backdoor- He has set up Knight with 2 gimmes that Knighter just couldn't bury. He also set up Rowney that way once. He has been firing just high too...
  16. let alone the Zajac, Stafford, Oshie, Toews team- that is 4 of our top 6 that are top 6 in the NHL now
  17. Agree 100% That was HOCKEY. Both teams in both games...the team that executed won. Just like the NCAA tourney...both also have quite a few freshman that will not be freshmen in March/April
  18. when you're gassed, you turn the puck over and miss chances. I hear you though. BU played a pressure game- which you'd expect when you're down in the third. When they do that, you have to respond smarter. The biggest issue was the aggressive forecheck they put on our d. They put 2 forwards on the puck and the other forward pressing the weakside. When that happens, your centers have to get "dirty" in your own zone. The strong side winger has to sit at the hash in hopes of a breakout, but also to cover that point. We appear to rely almost entirely on our d in our own end, with our forwards always looking to breakout. Parker noticed it and exploited it, as you would expect of a Hall of Fame coach. Our D, under pressure, go D to D, chip, or work individually...that results in no flow out of the dzone. Forwards need to help!!!
  19. This is not a bad start...splitting against a traditional hockey east power that is expected to be a tourney team...no way is that a bad start. Going 2-0-1 against a team that you played 3 times in 8 days...not a bad start Losing to Alaska- ok, not good, but starting the season with the monster of all road trips- not the end of the world. If you remember the Frattin and Genoway led Frozen Four team tied with Anchorage up there at the goal rush too.
  20. I saw glimpses tonight of two teams that can both be great. We clearly were gassed in the third- no excuses for being outconditioned . Although, I continue to feel that we chase the puck too much instead of going to where its going to be and using solid positional play and good crisp passes. Chasing the puck is very bad. We did not adjust to the aggressive 3 man forecheck, instead our D kept getting trapped. Our powerplay is God awful. We need to finish. It will come. Both nights, either team could've won- we both had plenty of chances each night. It was a deserved split for two pretty good teams. As for the PWR, well a sweep would've been great, but a split ain't bad. BU is going to have a winning record against most of Hockey East. In the common opponent part of PWR, .500 vs BU will be good. Gleason had a really bad weekend.
  21. I agree with the comments on the Mac hit and the disallowed goal. It was funny to read Hak's lips: Just f*ing look at it. All that said, I thought we saw an awesome hockey game last night. It has speed, skill, physicality, and great goaltending on both sides. Definitely worthy of UND vs BU. Tonight will be interesting, especially if it gets one-sided... Kristo has absolutely ripped a wrister off the crossbar in two consecutive games...he's a half an inch off...that will change, and when it does...oh boy... The BU goalie absolutely robbed MacMillan. Knight has to bury a wide open net... Any game where Gaarder pots 3, we had better win... Powerplay needs work, big time
  22. I agree with you on this. However, it hurts me that great hockey (UND vs UM) is sacrificed so that mediocre hockey (BSU, MSU) can be preserved- sorta reminds me of some folks political philosophies as well...sorta that everyone gets a soccer trophy mentality, you know, the one that DIDN'T save the world in the 1940's.
  23. BC will help SOS, not Notre Dame...Notre Dame has been solid the past couple seasons, but not UND/DU strong. I agree with the statement that nobody is "afraid" and that "ownership" of the rivalry rotates, however your 3-5 over the past two years is a bit misleading. That can be broken into last year where UND was 2-4 vs Minnesota, and Minnesota knocked UND out of the Regional and the prior year where it was a 1-1 split head to head, but UND went to the Frozen Four.
