I didn't watch the game live but finally caught it on the DVR the other night. Schlossman's tweet, and a lot of the discussion on the board here, made it seem like they actually changed the call to add something new. In reality, during the game the ref did announce the 5 min major AND game misconduct....although he also stated it to be on "North Dakota's number 28", which obviously was wrong. Given the fairly violent nature of the cross-check to the head of the MIami guy, the misconduct was warranted. Blame the box workers for not recording it correctly, and maybe blame the refs for not checking the sheet more closely after the game before signing, especially since the infraction had just taken place, but what the league did actually seemed reasonable. Hopefully their comment about quality officiating and personnel matters being handled internally means that there will also be a little discipline to the officials for the mix up, but that probably depends on how much Don Adam likes them.

Whew, awful turnover by Kleven almost cost them. That wasn’t NHL caliber clearing.

While fair to ask the refs what they saw, blaming them without details indeed isn't fair. The ownership of those plays is the players', and after that the coaches, for possibly tolerating it. I would hope that a coach seeing that type of play would use it as a teaching moment at a minimum, and if there has been a pattern, I'd hope that the coach would discipline the players himself. Sadly, not all coaches are wired with a moral compass and will actually encourage goonish play, which is really sad. I don't want to unfairly judge the coach here, but if those plays were made by two different players, and neither was disciplined by the coach, I'd worry about a culture problem starting at the top. -

OMG, no place in the game for that crap. Plenty of opportunity to make a body check but took the chicken $&^@ way out. Nobody could possibly even argue that those weren't blatant and intentional. I'm not saying there was an absolute intent to injure, but those are about as obvious as you can make a kneeing penalty. -
"I can almost guarantee a Fighting Hawks’ victory on Friday night". Bold Dave, but I like your confidence, and I've generally been impressed by the accuracy of your picks over the years. Hope it works out tonight!

Crazy to listen to the podcast and then follow it by reading the contents of that tweet. Talk about painting a picture in two different lights. It's all so sad.

Either Golf Digest or GOLF magazine had a nice story on Cam Smith a few months ago and he really won me over too. Like you said, he is super down to earth (loves mowing his lawn), low key, and just seems so likable. Any of the contenders the final day at the Open would have made a good story, for a variety of reasons, and I was pulling for Rory, but it was also cool to see Smith make his charge and absolutely earn it.

Very interesting. That one clip of Trognitz skating made him look like a bottom line Bantam B skater. What a bloodbath hockey was back then. So many names referenced seem to have been inspiration for Slapshot characters, and the feel of that video also had a Slapshot vibe to it overall. My guess is the eyebrow raising nameplate was "B Melrose"?

Felt bad for Talbot (before puck drop even) for getting inserted into the series under the elimination game circumstances. He should have gotten a start in one of the first three games, not come in after a long layoff and the Wild in need of a savior. Seemed like a desperate move on the coaching staff's part.

The drive up Pike's Peak is a must, and the walk across Royal Gorge Bridge is also pretty exhilarating, especially if the wind is blowing.

Ha, I signed in to write the exact same thing. In the embedded small view it wasn't obvious but if you expand to full screen it becomes real apparent that Walker's right leg takes out the left of the skater.

Bump. I don't imagine it'll make a difference, but it's nice to be able to voice one's opinion.

No, it's not repetition of an old story, this is happening in Grand Forks and I'm hearing about it the context of very specific examples of people closely tied to it. In a video call with a co-worker a thousand miles away few days ago, he also shared knowledge of similar things happening to people he knows personally. His example was someone he knows registering to get tested, then going over a lunch hour only to have the testing so slow that they never got in before they needed to return to work, so they left w/o getting tested. Got called the next day saying they tested positive.
-
So what's up with these stories I keep hearing from around GF about people who registered to get tested, never went, yet received calls saying that they tested positive? One time seemed like a fluke, but now I've heard of more instances, and from different sources and effecting several people. So dumb and confusing and stuff like that casts a shadow of doubt over all the testing.

Did they move it to Mariucci? But seriously, that definitely plays into UM's hands some since they're used to playing in an empty arena, and if nothing else eliminates some of the home ice advantage of having a good crowd that would be at Pegula.

UND @ Omaha. The Saturday don't get swept edition.

Comical that first he said how they played 3 games against us and had 3 guys with concussions but then a moment later he said how they had played 4 games and had 4 concussions. It’s absolutely embarrassing that his team would play the way it did over the weekend (non stop headlocks and third guy in on every post whistle skirmish). If they watch video and don’t see how silly they look then it’s no surprise that they can’t get anything out of video sessions to improve their play either. Chumps. -
Don't know if they'll ever make D1, but UMC is bringing back hockey in the ACHA, and have hired GF Youth Hockey Director Steve Johnson as coach.... http://www.kroxam.com/2020/01/31/umc-hires-former-und-st-cloud-state-assistant-coach-steve-johnson-to-coach-club-hockey-team/

KHL All-Star Chay Genoway with some quotes in this story, including a reference to his time with North Dakota.... https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/28526114/khl-player-poll-all-stars-next-city-get-team-misconceptions-league-more

Ha ha, no problem. To each their own and I can respect that

Without the context from the backstory the rest of the story would be confusing to anyone reading the article who may wonder why the story was written in the first place. Not everybody who reads the Herald is as aware of the former situation as most on this forum. Also, there may be readers of the article who didn't even live in Grand Forks back when the program was cut and could benefit from the touching on the backstory. I was supportive of cutting the program and was disappointed in a lot of the reaction from some players and outrage that attempted to make the university look so evil, but I can also enjoyed seeing that one of the athlete's affected was able to move on and find success elsewhere. I just thought the article did a good job of sharing the story without trying to make the school look evil. Maybe Brad has an agenda, but if one just reads THIS story without thinking about all the baggage from the past, I don't see it.
-
Agreed. Also, I thought the article did a solid job of touching on the backstory and not making too big of a deal about the drama surrounding it. I was impressed by the quotes from Ms. Campbell, who spoke positively about her time at North Dakota instead of bringing up anything negative, which could have been pretty easy for her.

Apparently others in the state of MN think he's pretty talented too.... https://www.youthhockeyhub.com/news_article/show/1003754 "From the beginning of the season to the final Region game in Woodbury, Edina's Jimmy Clark has been one of the most dynamic forwards we've seen this year. Prior to the Winter season, Clark led the Great Plains in scoring with 42 points in 26 games. This year, he helped lead Edina in scoring as a first year skater and to the state tourney this week in Moorhead. Clark, one of two first year skaters to be chosen along with Charlie Stramel, took Bantam hockey by storm. One local coach said of Clark, "hands down the most difficult player we had to stop all three times we played Edina. He's got it all - including speed, hands and the ability to finish." "
-
Yeah, congrats all! Sucky thing....in a work pool I picked a couple of games different than here and ended up with 29 points, using the same scoring system Oh well, at least with that one I won some $$.

Vote as many times as you like, as refreshing my browser allowed me to cast a second vote.....not exactly the fairest way to run a poll.

I've heard from someone close to LaDue and LJ both have signed. Best of luck to both of them with their pro careers. Also sounds like Luke's knee is doing better and he may/should be skating again next week.
