  1. I've posted this before but maybe some of you haven't seen it.  This was in March '95.

One of the other kids mentioned in the article is Jacob Micflikier, he plays for New Hampshire and has also done quite well.

looks to me Brady loves scoring at the Ralph. Granted it was the old Ralph, rummor is he committed the the Sioux after this game. :)

  2. "..if they win the Bean Pot nothing else matters"  Why bother with the rest of the season then?  Sound like that Gopher jerk when he said the game for third didn't mean anything and the Gophers weren't playing hard.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Hey I'm sure the Sioux don't mind playing teams that "have nothing to play for".

  3. Dave Hakstol was on the radio this morning with Tim Hennessy and Scott Swygman. Here's a summary of the discussion:

What?? PCM no disclaimer, does this mean what you posted was a verbatim transcript. :0

  4. No one's mentioned this that I know of, but have Gwozdecky and Paukovich visited Robbie in the hospital? In my opinion, personally expressing their concern for his health and/or apologizing would be the classy thing to do.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Considering they both got on a charter flight back to Colorado about a 1/2 hour after the final game I highly doubt it.

  5. If true he will never play hockey again ??? I also heard this from a fairly reliable source - he will have to have his vertebrate fused together, but should have no paralysis. The good news is he can recover and live a normal life. The bad news is playing hockey will not be a part of his life.

I hope Paukavich learns from this, if he has any conscious the knowledge of what he did is the worse punishment he can get.

If there is someone to blame I put it more on the refs - as mentioned before this was not the first hit from behind into the boards. The play was getting dangerous and the refs were losing control. Also it was competely classless for Gowzdecky to play Paukavich after the hit. He should have sat the rest of the game - it was a very blatent hit from behind.

First let me say my thoughts and prayers are with Robbie.

On an encouraging note, I watched a 1st period interview during the Michigan-Ohio State game with Ohio State D-man Nate Guenin. He stated he broke is neck last year on a play where he went head first into the boards (7th vertebrate). I don't know if it was the same injury as Robbie's but if it is I hope Bina makes the same kind of recovery and we see him in a Sioux uniform next season.

  6. Responding to PCM, the goof announcers said yesterday that the WCHA always changes refs when a 2 of 3 series goes to the 3rd game.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Only if one or both coaches ask for a different crew. The WCHA isn't going to spend the money getting another crew to the series unless requested to do so.

  7. After the gopher loss on Friday, everyone else has left the ice and the nets are being removed for resurfacing, and Hirsch goes out and stands at center ice for a minute or two all alone.  As the official walks across the ice with a bucket of unused pucks, he asks the official for one.  He then motions to the people at the Zamboni door to close it, and they eventually do.  He skates at full speed toward the net, shoots the puck from about ten feet, and crashes into the net at full speed, knocking it into the boards.  The few thousand people left in the arena all stopped to watch the odd spectacle.

In the press conference afterward, Lucia was asked if Hirsch is OK.  He responds that physically he believes Hirsch is fine.  Anyone hear anything else about what he was doing/thinking?

    John

Sounds like he is just getting ready for the rematch with the Sioux. Don't be suprised if he tries running the goalie today. ???

That is if he's not watching the game from the stands in a straight jacket.

  8. In yesterday's Pioneer Press The Don said he'd probably play them both this weekend, he's just not sure in which order.  Methinks we'll see JJ on Friday and KB on Saturday.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I think the Don meant he would have to play both in the same game after CC lites up JJ, Briggs will get his turn. :D

  9. If the WCHA and its incompetent band of officials doesn't want to do anything about it, Gwozdecky had better do it himself. It'll send a message to the rest of the league that the league itself is incapable of dealing with stuff like this, but that Gwozdecky himself isn't afraid to step in when necessary and discipline his players.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

If you asked George Gwazdickheady he would probably tell you it was a good call by Adam, that his player was pulling up and didn't mean it. :D I remember an interview TH did with him last year pregame. Tim told him his team played a defensive chippy cluch and grab style of hockey. In an irritated tone Gwoz was quick to defend his team stating they skated well with the Sioux the night before. I guess 8-2 is close. :D

Any further word on Murray, Prpich and Fabian injuries?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Fabian hurt a knee will probably play.

Murray hurt his shoulder again TH said he and Prpich might not play for the rest of the year.

  10. The Zajac no goal. It might be wishful thinking on my part or maybe I need new contacts, but, it looked to me that the puck was under the goalies elbow (which was behind the line) and when he went to get up he made a motion with his arm to slide the puck down to his leg to make it look like it wasn't close. I'm sure I'm wrong but didn't anyone else see this.

The checking from behind on Bina. Adam is a f'in joke. He was standing right in front of them and watched Bina get driven ioto the boards head first. Not dangerous at all. :D I'm sure in his small mind he would just call two minutes on each team and it would be even. :D

Not only should Adam not be let on the ice, he shouldn't be allowed in the building. The game was to important for anyone to step up and retaliate but it would have been justice for any one of our boys to take down Paukovich or better yet Adam. Remember its only two minutes for sending someone to the hospital. ;)

  11. Newsflash. Us Gophers fans aren't the only ones capable of arrogance.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Agreed, Maine, BC, Wisconsin, Michigan and Alaska Anchorage all have their share of Arrogant fans. :D
