Ideal scenario is Sioux up 3 or 4 goals with around 1 minute to go and have Greene or Schneider or McMahon or Prpich just drop gloves and call him out.
A. he backs down like the coward he is
B. he gets the ass whoopping he deserves

My guess would be if the Sioux are up by 3 or 4 goals with a minute left Punkavich won't be anywhere near the ice. He'll likely be hiding behind the backup goalie hoping nobody in green catches a glimpse of him.

You newbies kill me. I don't think my comment was that negative, it was more of an observation if you paid attention to the game tonight. Hakstal had him play on the penalty kill at least once but as Henessy said after the game Quinns line didn't get much time because Hak has settled on playing the top 9 forwards. Yes he has "performed" his role that was asked of him and he's had an outstanding career. Still remember watching him his sophmore year and was thinking "what a difference a year of Juniors makes".
Here's hoping he's got one more great performance in him as a Fighting Sioux.

The Sioux finished by beating Duluth and being tied by 9th place St.Cloud. They then lost to Denver and beat a gopher team that is horrible.... NICE FINISH.

Maybe if McLeod and the rest of suits don't get the need for enforcing the rules, perhaps we should sign these guys and allow them to enforce "The Rules".

Maine may have been the 2nd hottest team in the country behind Cornell or maybe Denver. Those were not easy wins and our regional was not weak.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just love that because Minny played both of this teams and had difficulty with them it has to be because they have the two best goalies on the two hottest teams in the country.
Just like you are a fan of the sioux, I am a fan of the gophers. Therefore, I believe they are the better team and I also believe we will be the winners of the next 3 national championships.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

And how many pucks did the Sioux put behind Jim Howard this season. A meaningless stat when all is said and done as they all play for teams that any of the top WCHA teams should be able to bury.

You had better hope so. Granted its only two games but so far in the NCAAs the Sioux are averaging 5 goals a game while Minny is averaging 1.5.

Who would have believed the Sioux would be in Columbus even a month ago, congratulations to Dave Hakstol and the whole team. Tonight was especially sweet beating big-mouth Jerry York.
I'm curious how everyone feels about the Minnesota-Cornell game tomorrow. As a Red Sox fan, I was torn whether I wanted the Yankees or Twins to win last year's first round series, because while beating NY on the way to the World Series last year was great, losing to them would have been doubly hard to swallow. So, along those lines, who does everyone want to play in the first game of the Frozen Four?
While I'd LOVE to beat the Gophers, losing to them would be a tough way to end the season. Who does everyone else want to face off against?

I say bring on the Dirty Gophers. After them bring on either Rocky Mountain school. It would be sweet for the 5th place Sioux to go through two WCHA schools to get #8

Inside College hockey is calling UND win a shocker. I guess I am not all that shocked. I wonder if B.C. looked past UND. I also wonder in hind site if the East Regional is all that happy about having UND come out east and spoil HE chances of having a team in the NCAA's.

I think everyone but Sioux fans would call the win a shocker. The Sioux, a bubble team a few weeks ago play BC, the #1 team in the tourney, out east after having to go through BU. I'll admit I didn't think UND had much of a chance with the draw they got. I picked them to beat BU, but didn't think they would get past BC. I'm glad I was wrong.
