  1. Dupuis is working out with Concordia University in Montreal. Is this the same Concordia on the Sioux schedule? :);)

I doubt if he doesn't resign with the Wild by Oct 11th he would be playing for them (Concordia that is). Just makes a guy wonder what kind of team Concordia is. :D:0

  2. I haven't seen the prices people are charging, but it's worth noting that season ticket holders would need to charge more than "face value" for the tickets to recoup their cost, since the cost includes up-front fees for the right to sit in certain areas.

I don't know what most season ticket holders are paying, but I pay $690 for two seats. If you count all home games icluding the playoffs (all three games) the Sioux will play 26 games at home. That works out to be on average $13.27 per game. I understand that some games are worth more than others, but come on season ticket holders are getting a good deal. :0:)

The problem is with people offering more than face value for the tickets. Doing this only encurages people to scalp tickets. :D

I know I won't make it to all the games this year, but I will likely give my tickets away or only sell them for face value or less. To me it's not about money, just want someone to be able to enjoy watching one of the best teams in college hockey if I can't. ;):):)

  3. I actaully sent an email to Victory Sports Programming asking about SIOUX hockey and got this as part of the reply.

"Thanks for your interest in Victory Sports.

We will be having at least 4 games involving UND and we also plan to produce

a couple high school games out of ND as well.

So, Victory Sports will truly be a full REGIONAL network...not just a metro

    network. "

Sounds like more coverage is on the way.  Also If you didnt know one of the people backing this new network is obviously the Minnesota TWINS whos GM is Dave St Peter (or whatever his title is) a former Fighting SIOUX and one of the VP's at Victory sports is Mark Shrockman another Fighting SIOUX walsh hall alumni.  This has to bode well for the future of SIOUX hockey on TV in the midwest :D  :0  :)  ;)  :)

I would imagine the four games Victory is referring to are the two away series with SCSU and MSU-M. They would need to come to terms with the Fighting Sioux Sports Network for any rights to air games at the Ralph. It would be nice to see more college hockey on TV. Ever since Fox Sports bought out Midwest Sports Channel I don't even get to see all the Rodent games. I only hope my local cable provider picks up Victory Sports.

Any college game on TV would be great as long as Frank and Doug aren

  4. Today was Media Day.(for the media) The fans can get a look at the teams, both mens and womens, on Monday the 29th. Sweeney mentioned it on the news tonight but didn't give a time as to when the doors would open.

I plan on being there, if I just knew what time. :D

  5. My favorite Farce story is when a number of the Farce decided to go to Duluth one weekend for a hockey series. On Saturday afternoon they had been to a number of bars and were heading to a different one downtown. Like usual most of them were wearing their yellow hard hats with the light and siren.

As they were walking down the street they saw a large crowd gathered in front of a building across the street. They stopped to chant "We've got spirit yes we do, we've got spirit how bout you?' at the crowd. Almost immediately they were surrounded by a number of men in suits who proceeded to escort them away from the crowd. They then discovered that these gentlemen were Secret Service agents and that President Reagan was in the building they had been chanting at.  :D

Didn't know Reagan hung out at the Toga :0

  6. I got the exact seats I wanted, so I am happy.  It was fun.  We might have to get in line for next year's tickets after the last playoff game in March.

    You mean April, right? :D

Congrats on getting the seats you wanted. How is the process going, any problems or complants?

  7. Not allowing students to rush and assigning seats is just the easiest way the REA could come up with to maximize ticket sales for unused student seats. I am on the students side, I think part of the fun going to hockey games seeing a wild rocken student section, assigned seats won't accomplish this.

Fedorov, My negativity was directed at the REA and the handling of ticket disbursement. I was once a student and remember standing in lines to go to games. Just don't understand why they can't allow rush seating for the students anymore. With the technology available today the REA could have come up with a better solution.

Here's one. Don't know how well it would work, just thinking of the top of my head.

Allocate set number of tickets: lets say 3,000 (just a number I came up with don't know what it really is)

Sell season tickets to students (up to 3,000) with no guarantee of a specific seat.

Subtract the total of the season tickets sold from the 3,000 if less.

Remaining tickets could be sold to students up till the Thursday before the event.

This is where it gets tricky. The REA could then determine how many seats to allocate with an exact number of sections, rows and seats per row from the student sections based on the number of tickets sold. REA would have to somehow mark the seats so is would be clear which ones are available to students. This would be different for each game unless all student tickets were sold. Students could then Rush these seats in a first come scenario. Student seats not sold by Thursday could be sold to the GP. Students could sell their tickets to other students since all they would need to get into the game is the student ticket and a valid student ID.

That was just one idea. Not a very good one either, I'm sure others have better ideas. Not that it matters, little late for new ideas.

Camping out over night to get tickets sounds like fun. Good luck to all you students I hope you get the seats you want. :D

  8. I think it was either 1988 or 1987 when the "Hump the Huskies" t-shirt came out.  That was a t-shirt you could only really wear at home.

Still have my "Buck the Fison in 92" t-shirt, it's a little small now. The wife must have shrunk it in the wash. :D Only wear that one at home too.

  9. Sounds like it could get ugly. If the REA has you going to the section and taking a card off the seat, how closely will you be watched. What will prevent you from taking cards off adjacent seats and giving them to friends that are still waiting in line outside? One guy could take an entire row of cards. Doesn't sould like this was thought out very well. :D

Looks like we could have 'Rumble at the Ralph' ;)

Sure am glad to be a season ticket holder and not have to worry about fighting over seats with people that will probably only go to half the games.

  10. Of the three sounds like Hale would be the front runner if not for his illness. Hope he stays healthy all season and they give him a chance. Good to see Hale can handle himself with some of the best of them. Still remember last year when he beat the snot out of that poor little freshman forward from Mankato. Was the turning point in the game and the spark the team needed to come back and earn a tie after being down by three goals.

DeMarchi won't start anything. He knows he can't hit anyone from behind after the whistle. Isn't college most all those guys would hand him his a$$. No Mr. DeMarchi's "physical game" is about over. :D

  11. Is this roster complete? Does it include all walk-ons that may have tried out and made the team? Did they have open try outs for the team this year?

Anybody have any info on Fabian? I see his bio said he ranked 6th on his team in scoring. Was he brought in for his defensive play? Notice he did have a +17, thats got to be worth something.

  12. I don't really care if they change or not, there are much more important issues the WCHA should be dealing with. If they do change things around (darks at home, whites away) maybe they should wear green on Friday and black on Saturday at home and the whites away.

Better yet there are three different colors and three periods! :D

  13. Although most would disagree, I feel the best way to get scoring out of more then the top line is to split up Parise and Bochenski. Other teams keyed in on this line during the second half of the year. I believe two solid scoring lines could be created with the following combinations (Murry/Parise/Massen) and (Bochenski/Lundbohm/Stafford). It wouldn't matter which is considered one or two, they would both be great. :D That is if these guys have the right chemistry to play together.

This should be a great year if the team can find the right chemistry and get behind a solid goaltender. Goaltending is the key! If the team isn't worried about giving up a goal, especially a soft one, every time they're in their own zone, players would be more agressive. Taking more chances (D-men jumping up into the play creating odd man rushes) creating more scoring opportunities. If they can do this their confidence will grow and confidence breeds success.

I don't know which goaltender will step up this year, but doubt it will be Brandt. I hope I'm wrong.

This year should be exiting! I can't wait! Only 22 days!
