  1. It would be nice when we get to the NCHC, if the Sioux could schedule playing in Duluth in October or November, instead of January and February, which has been the case lately. Be nice to be able to make a trip up the North Shore when winter hasn't already taken hold. If Brian Faison is listening, please work at getting some sort of rotation, so trips like that don't always have to be made when the weather conditions can make it a hit or miss type of thing.

I'm sure that will happen eventually since we will be playing each other four times every year.
  2. Don't be so bitter. :)

Nothing like cheering for a CCHA team if your team doesn't make it. ;)

If UND loses and UMD wins on Thursday, I'm all for the Bulldogs.

Bitter is being a Minnesota sports fan! I'm bitter about the Vikings in 98, 09...

You're wrong there, ya ol' biddy! I know UMD fans who don't harbor the jealously and hatred toward out team that the majority of UMD posters on this FIGHTINGS SIOUX sports forum have. There must not be a UMD sports forum, you certainly spend enough time here. Or, more realistcally (what loser sports team doesn't have a fan forum?), you just like hanging out with winners. ;)

I enjoy reading opposing opinions and fan thoughts. Kills some time during the day.

    Is it Thursday yet?

  3. This thread is laughable.

I think it has something to do with the Gophers being down. UND is now the top dog and you are going have people cheering against you now. Perhaps it is even a bit ironic for Sioux fans who have cheered against UMTC now have the same thing throw back at them.

I just hope the guy with the windsock shows up. He's their more wholesome version of "beer grandma".

He is also older. He is 91 now. Plus he cannot see or hear very well. The student section LOVES him. We start a chant every game for him, wait until he stands up and waves his windsock, then cheer.

Just throwing in my take: all teams have obnoxious fans. Because of the overall number of Sioux fans, we have more obnoxious fans that most - if not all - teams in college hockey. Lets not start threads bashing every other school's fans because their threads about our fans could and would be a lot longer, containing terrible stories of drunken idiots. Having said that, go Sioux.

Winning post right there. It almost feels like obnoxious Sioux fans out number the regular ones. It is always nice to visit the Ralph and have people flick you off and tell you to "F*** off". Always classy.

Is there a UMD Bulldog message board forum somewhere? I tried to look for one, but didn't have any success. Any help would be appreciated.

    Awww, look our newest member!

  4. I just remember going to check out that fancy new rink, but feeling like I didn't quite get my money's worth as I didn't get to hear what the goal horn sounds like. I'm sure it's pretty cool!

    Ahhh selective memory.

  5. I feel the same way. UMD had always been my second favorite team. I always cheered for them when they weren't playing us. I even have a sweatshirt specially made by a good friend (her daughter is a UMD grad and a current UND 2nd yr med student) that says 'This Sioux's for you' with the Bulldog crest below the lettering. Seeing the UMD fans join UM fans cheer against us has been surprising. I've retired my sweatshirt.

    Boourns :(

That sweatshirt was much appreciated at Regionals in 2009!

Sounds like we are building some animosity between Bulldog and Sioux fans....that could be very interesting for the UMTC and UW less WCHA in a couple years...

Could be a lot of fun!

  6. Danny Kristo has been playing lights out since he got back, so the UMD dirtbags will find out, it isnt' just the pony line scoring goals. Kristo will have a big impact,

he's tougher now then he ever was. Duluth and their one line, good luck with that, 5 to 0, that's what I recall.

Funny. I remember 3-2 in OT. But I guess we all have selective memory :)

  7. He's a good guy when you meet him in person, but he does like to get opposing fans riled up on message boards (and evidently, on the radio). His usual targets are SCSU fans. :)

    What was said about Kristo?

    And it is working here...

    I always...I always...

  8. Regardless of them being in last place they have the ability to beat anyone just like all wcha teams.

Sadly much less of a chance. But ask Denver.

Did you even watch the game? The flurry that Frattin led halfway through the second period was a statement regardless of the WCHA opponent. I would have expected such a comment from a bitter Gopher fan but I guess the disease has now spread statewide?

Nope. Frattin's statement as a great player? Hasn't that been made already with his 28 goals?

  9. If you watch the one angle of the replay, you can see Makowski flip the puck quite high in the air to get it out of the zone and when it hits the ice, it almost seems as if it changes direction. Genoe does appear to be sliding to his left to try to stop it. Not sure at what point he was even able to see it prior to it hitting the ice in front of him?

I wonder if having the puck go high in the air, and having to deal with the lights and darkness of the rafters played a roll. Or perhaps Genoe was just in lala land.

  10. I would imagine that some member schools would not like it if it was in St. Paul every year. The Joe would be another option if the BTHC decided to eff over the CCHA. The Bradley Center too. Or Columbus's arena. I doubt Michigan, Sparty, tOSU and Penn State would be as willing to roll over and let MN (and to some extent UW) have the home field advantage every year. tWCHA would probably use the Xcel and in the years where the BTHC rotated into tX, the tourney would be in Denver.

Adding Miami and ND to the conference would be sweet and would certainly keep the level of competition high.

Miami and ND would be excellent additions!

I also would be interested to see how the "super confrence" idea would work. There has got to be a way that they don't destroy one of the automatic bids. I worry about some CCHA schools when talking about the BTHC. There are some great programs with fantastic histories that could be in jeopardy.

I do agree that the BTHC could create growth in college hockey. Although I worry that the growth will not be worth the negatives.

  11. I am fine with the one game suspension. I actually thought it could have been longer (being that we are dealing with the WCHA here, after all).

My only complaint is that they waited until the day before the game to announce it. This could have been taken care of on Tuesday, now the team is left scrambling for lines in practice for tomorrow's game.

So I am assuming you think that Haks had no idea this was coming and did nothing to prepare the team for it?

I thought I heard Hakstol assumed he was missing one game. Your lines will be fine.

  12. This is the Penatlty Box.

    Wha?

You see this is why I was confused.

But seriously, that comment was mean and I will keep it at tUMD PB

So with three UND starters out of the lineup..who will replace them? And how much will this hurt them?
