  1. The pride and success of the University of North Dakota and Grand Forks' hockey tradition will spill over to it's women's team.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I hope it does, because they are costing the University millions of dollars each year, so I hope they can become a respectable program and get more than 200 fans to attend their games at home.

  2. I know USD hasn't been competative in the last decades! I also know that UND charged extra for the Duluth game but unless I am mistaken that was HOMECOMING. I was asking, didn't UND/USD used to be a big rivalry DECADES ago and used to play for the Sitting Bull Trophy unless I am mistaken. I know UND and USD hasn't been extremely competative. I was just asking. Was this not a RIVALRY YEARS and YEARA ago?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yes they did play for the Sitting Bull trophy.

so because they played for the sitting bull trophy years ago we should make them our rival?

  3. 10 of the last 12, now, to CC and UND - 5 each.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That is quite amazing, when you consider how many good teams have played in the WCHA over that time period.

  4. It is kind of hard to think of anyone in the NCC as real rivals. I am kind of suprised that UND and USD haven't tried to get something going similar to what NDSU and SDSU did this year. Although the 'SUs needed something to try create some buzz these next few years, UND and USD don't really need that. Didn't UND and USD used to be a pretty big rivalry and they used to play for the Sitting Bull trophy or something like that?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

USD's program hasn't really been strong lately, so it is hard to develop a rivalry with someone, when there isn't a lot of big games being played between the two schools. Fans get more geared up for games against UNO than USD.

  5. First of all...chances are it is USA Hockey that is setting up the whole press conference/conference call.  This kid is a media circus for the USNDP and they are most likely gonna use that to their advantage however they can.

Second, I believe it was scouts (or perhaps the coach of the U18 squad) who was quoted as saying that Kessel was the best American borne player since Mike Madano.  It isn't like Dubay is making this stuff up.

But hey, don't let the facts get in the way eh boys

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The "fact" that Dubay keeps repeating it is a joke in itself.

  6. This is at least the second or third time I have heard something about protestors down at St. Cloud. Is this a common thing when the Sioux are in town or something ? And why is it just in St. CLoud, and not in all cities where the Sioux play a road series ? Maybe there is a reservation nearby or something...that would be my guess.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It is common in St. Cloud, at least the games I've attended there.

There are reservations all over the place, that has little to do with it.

  7. Someone with credibility over on GPL has posted that Kessell has informed both coaches of his decision, and the inference is MN is the choice.  At this point no surprise.

Commence Parise vs. Vanek Part II

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

They are pretty much saying the same thing on KFAN also.

  8. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I just can't see how you can downplay PK's WJC experience.  He didn't ONLY score against Sweden, and of course players will put up better numbers against the lesser opponents.  The fact is that he outscored almost all of his teammates, most of whom were two years older and are current college standouts.  I'm sure he will have his trying moments, and someone will probably catch him with his head down, but most of the attempted big hits are going to catch air.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I agree with you, he did all that and was still younger than everyone else. I'm now sure why people are trying to say what he did at the WJC doesn't matter, because it did show that he can definitely play the game very well.

  9. I am not trying to make a joke. Just curious what they afford him.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Do you think they wouldn't offer him a full ride? Legally, there isn't a lot more that one school can offer than another school.

  10. why isn't the sioux in the running? Didn't they offer him anything worth wild. Not that the best arena in college hockey isn't enough.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

is this a joke? or are you being serious?

  11. His press conference isn't until Friday now delaying this crap even longer.  Just get it over with already Phil.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

wow, can we drag this out any more? I guess he could if he wanted, but glad he is going to end it friday, or will it be saturday, maybe sunday, possibly monday......

  12. However, according to a guy that I work with said that while watching the game onetelevision apparently it showed some of the students spitting on the Badger players as they came to the penalty box. I actually have a hard time believing that happening too, however, I talked to another guy that I know said that he was talking to one of the Badger players (I don't remember which one) said something to that this was infact true.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That was true, they clearly showed that during saturday's television broadcast of the game.

  13. That is one quote we would never hear from Roebuck or most anyone for that matter.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Exactly, in fact, Roebuck would be mad and pretty pissed about it. Glas doesn't have that kind of demeanor and I think that adds to some of our impatience with him, we would like to see him angry about the way the season ended, but instead, he talks about the season as being a solid one. :silly:

  14. At what point did Phil Kessel become possibly the best American ever.  Answer- when Dubay decided he was leaning to Minnesota.  I never have heard that before.  I have heard he is going to be a great player, but nothing to that level.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I would have to agree with you there. The more he started to lean towards Minnesota, the more Dubay started to tout him as the "best American ever".

This kid is really good, no doubt about that, but he is a long ways away from getting crowned the best American ever.

  15. I am assuming that this is not true.  I haven't been to the new stadium many times but if I saw someone throwing pennies on the ice, I would go to security.  Pennies are not like a gopher, badger, or hat.  Which, if not appropriate, at least is easily visable, and will not cause injury (assuming again that the gopher is not live and rabid).

I have never seen this happen in Grand Forks and hope I never do.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I agree, such a thing would endanger our players as well. This is something that is stupid and I hope is not true.

  16. Nice....I can see the BADger faithful on USCHO working themselves into a frenzy now over this accusation. :silly:

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Call them like I see them ;);)
