He looked noticeably better tonight than earlier in the season. If he can makes those timely throws and stretch the field, it opens things up so nicely considering the solid running game we have. Could be a fun offense to watch next year or two when we start adding more parts outside to make teams pay even more for loading the box.

Anyone have team/player stats on this game?
-
So extracurricular shoving is a penalty against UND but not against Cal-Poly? Asinine officiating.
-
The offense is starting to become more predictable, which is why Cal-Poly is getting stops. What happened to the swing passes? Toss sweeps? Need some variability on the offense to keep moving the chains.
-
Given the process to get to this nickname, I really have a hard time seeing this panning out well. More likely it will be a variation on something already out there (seeing as how there is so much source material to work with).
-
Whatever happened to this? "The Nickname Committee will evaluate submissions based on a list of attributes that the group has developed: • Be unique, recognizable, inspiring, and distinctly UND’s; • Promote a sense of pride, strength, fierceness, and passion; • Be representative of the state and region in a way that honors the traditions and heritage of the past but also looks to the future; and • Be a unifying and rallying symbol."

Good to see the team decided to show up tonight...

I don't know, the way Santiago can turn a corner and outrun safeties with angles, he might be at least as fast as Chappell.
-
The defense won't get it down sitting back in a zone coverage, that has been proven so far this year. Pressure is and should be the name of the game from here out. I'll take a completed pass so long as we're putting a fear into the qb or putting him on his back with each throw.
-
The hold at the end was as good as a first down because Santiago went down in bounds. Smart play by the RB. This was a good win, sucks the defense got beat so soundly but they came up big when needed and we beat the 19th ranked team in FCS. That's a good win in my book.

Great run by Santiago but the hole was huge, he went untouched.

I'm sure it was the gobc that got Hak that NHL gig...

Throwing my two cents out here: The QB position hasn't looked good since Braden Hanson/Marcus Hendrickson. Since then, we haven't had a true #1 guy. Mollberg looked like he was getting there last year and then he got injured. Studsrud was winning games this year but he was primarily doing it on the ground. Yes he was winning, but the passing game was pretty much non-existent. Bartels ran into terrible luck last season with the injury, but this season he doesn't have that excuse and has shown absolutely nothing to inspire confidence or justify him getting another start if Studsrud can't play this upcoming weekend. I think if Studsrud can't play, the coaches have to go to Mollberg for a game, at least see what he can do now. I'm curious what Mollberg can do, primarily because of how much different the offense is from when he was running things last year. Early last year, UND couldn't run worth a lick and so Mollberg was being asked to pretty much carry the offense. It wasn't pretty early but his decision making seemed to be getting better as he got a feel for the system. He was able to utilize the receivers we had last year. When he and Bartels went out, it was obvious the coaches wanted to protect the true freshman and put an added emphasis on the run. Don't know if it was just some serious coaching by the new o-line coach but holes started opening and Garmin showed what he could do when given a semblance of a gap. Cut to this year and the run-heavy offense continues with the added threat of the QB run and the perpetual homerun threat of Santiago. The offense is a different creature. I'm not saying Mollberg would come in and instantly fix the passing game as there seems to be major issues with the receivers this year, but some of those receiver issues could also be on the QB play. Hard to do timing routes when the QB is late with the ball or unsure of his decision making. Also tough to stretch the field when the QB can't push the ball downfield. So stick in Mollberg (who we know is capable of chucking the pigskin), continue pounding the ball with Santiago/Oliviera, and demand a receiver wins a 1v1 battle. What do we have to lose at this point on offense?

Me thinks we should spend extra time looking for secondary support. If the back four could be as good as the front seven the UND defense would be very scary.
-
Bartels has shown nothing the in the past 6 quarters to prove he can get the job done. UND needs at least the threat of a passing game.
-
Listening to the Vermont coach, he sounds like a class act kind of guy.
-
How many times has "pass was late" can be said in a season? Doesn't matter Studsrud or Bartles, the ball seems to be late most of the time.
-
Line coach might want to get the center and guards together to talk about A gap pressure. That has been killing UND for weeks.
-
UND can't finish games. Where is the killer instinct?
-
Need to start running the no-huddle hurry up in practice. That's what seems to be killing this defense.
-
Yup, eversports is showing nothing for me. Such a crap site.

Had Zane come back, I honestly think this years team is better than last years. But the current goal-tending is highly suspect and the defense really needs to step up. Sure we have a lot of young forwards but our D was supposed to be one of the best nationally this year. Gotta shore that up, particularly on the PK. This is still a young season with a lot of young guys. I expect things to get better, it's just going to take some time and all the injuries aren't helping.
-
why do we need Clive? So that we can underthrow him all game? We had one play with a wr alone behind the secondary and it was grossly underthrown by a qb who had time. Give me a wr that can run a 10-20 yard route and actually get separation.
-
I think we can all stop talking about playoffs at this point.

This defense has just completely collapsed. This second half is just awful. I'm sorry, but UND doesn't deserve to win with the way they've played this second half.
