Portland State had ZERO passing yards against ISU and still racked up 530 rushing yards and won 45-20.  We should be able to run the ball.

Should be able to have a lot of success on the ground & through the air against ISU.... Rudolph continues to call a very balanced game.  The 2 ISU starting corners go 5'9" 155 & 5'8" 164.  Backup CBs on the 2-deep are 6'0 170 & 5'10 165... I like our big WR's against that all day, everyday (especially if Stanley plays).  Might not run away from them, but will win the 1-on-1 matchups, jump-balls, & back shoulder throws.  IF the passing game is somehow out of sync, well, then just pound the rock all day like PSU did.

Add in the revenge factor & UND rolls big in this one.

Yup. Palmborg is good but I thought flowers out shined him.   Our backups got some minutes as well as experience and we get a W!   Great thing is, Cole will be back

Palmborg got pulled after the missed tackle on the long bubble screen TD.  SUU ran that same play again in the very next series & Flowers absolutely lit that kid up. Nice to see. Flowers did look pretty damn good all game.

Not sure if I'm going to be able to make it up to Grand Forks or not this weekend. Does anyone know which bars in Fargo would show the UND football game? Or would most of them have it?

I believe the bisens are playing at 1:00 as well, so you are not going to have much luck finding a Fargo bar showing the UND game.  Being it's the bisens homecoming, I'd stay out of Fargo altogether if I was you. ;)

Honest criticism that I feel needs to be said to make Yote fans lives easier:  Those "catastrophic mistakes" that you guys keep poo-pooing away like they didn't happen are going to continue to happen for the rest of the year.

Steveler is not a good "QB".  He is Tim Tebow.  He is going to throw HORRIBLE balls about 5 times a game and they are going to kill you.  Hell, Torrey Hunt should have picked off the OT pass and he would have been gone for a 95 yard TD to end it.  Flat out dropped it.

That being said, he is is an outstanding runner.  Very good.  Very tough to bring down.  He is good at throwing up '500' balls and hoping his guys come down with them.

Your fans completely dismissed the 21 points you "gave" to Weber State and acted like you won by 20.  Your fans have already completely dismissed the 14 points you "gave" to UND.   FYI, turnovers are part of the game, every week, every game in the country.  Just because your's are completely disastrous doesn't mean they don't count.  Sensing a theme.

Spot on the entire post!  Streveler really impressed me as runner... Tough & gritty kid.  As a passer, not so much.  The yotes are gonna live & die with him. Take the good with the bad. I hope the yotes are confident in their backup as well.  Running Streveler 20+ times a game, he is going to take a pounding over the course of the season... Especially in that tough as nails Valley, after he looked to take a pretty good beating against a "big fluffy" team on Saturday night.

As for the "catatrophic mistakes", hope he realizes that UND lost a fumble on their own 20 (which led to 3 yote plays for 1 yard & a chip-shot field goal), as well as a tipped-ball INT on UND's own 30, which led to a yote TD drive.  10 points for the yotes off 2 turnovers, where they only had to gain 31 yards.

Speaking of taunting, I've noticed Santiago tapping on the helmets of opposing players after he makes a play on them - could that be considered taunting (he did it right after the touchdown catch against SD) and a few other times. We can't afford to put anything in the hands of the referees.

I viewed it as a kind of "good effort" gesture (on the td play).  Santiago seems like a pretty humble kid.  Doesn't look like taunting to me.

  6. Took a peak at the play by play summary from the game... Ran 26 plays on 1st down. 6 pass attempts & 20 rush attempts. (There were a couple of Keaton runs - can't remember if all were designed or if some were scrambles from pressure).... Regardless, we are still running over 70% of 1st down plays. I understand our run-first mentality, but even us arm-chair QBs watching & in the stands know what's coming.

"That is pretty much to be expected from the arrogant inhabitants of The Great Waste! I would give a lot to have the Yotes knock the snot out of them Saturday. UND has lucked out too many times against The Good Guys!

    Go SD!"

    Ha...

60-29-5 all-time for UND. 53-24-3 in NCC play for UND.  21 wins in last 25 for UND, 3-1 UND in FCS, oh and the yotes haven't won in GF since '85 (12 straight wins at home for UND).  According to UND game notes & media guide.

That's damn lucky... Must have a horseshoe up our a$$ or something.... ;)

You do realize you are making my point for me:
There is no college football this weekend except CSU at NDSU and Cal at Hawaii, thus, ESPN picked up the last (only) option in the bar. I say "only" because ESPN is not paying to send a crew to Hawaii (high maintenance girl) for a no-ratings game when they have a cheaper no-ratings game at hand.

Even ESPN's own folks view next weekend as the start of the CFB season.
"ESPN/ABC Set for Best College Football Opening Weekend Schedule Ever" -- where they list the games of weekend of Sep 3.

Cal vs Hawaii is actually being played in Sydney, Australia, mate... & still aired on ESPN.

Sadly this a reflection of where we are as a society.  Chapman and now Bresciani have a history of lying.  The NDSU fans should demand he and Larson be fired.  Not because of their proposed media policy but because as public employees and administrators at an institution of higher education they should be held to the basic standard of honesty when it comes to dealing with the public. If we can overlook the fact the Bresciani lied and Larson was willing to throw a subordinate employee under the bus, and that Larson as AD is willing to mislead the public then why should we expect them to be honest in their other dealings?  Bresciani's disrespect for other media members and for the Forum Chair (who donated $1,000,000 to NDSU) is the epitome of arrogance and deceit.  Can NDSU supporters really defend that?  The school, community and state of North Dakota deserves better.  Had they hired Dick Hanson (former Bison FB and former interim president who did a good job of cleaning up the Chapman mess), I doubt we would have this situation.  There seems to be a pattern developing at NDSU that the end justifies the means. That is not and should never be acceptable at an institution of higher education.  It seems as long as we have success in athletics the rest is forgiven.  I guess if we can nominate presidential candidates who have repeatedly lied and made disparaging remarks to or about the mentally handicapped, police and the military and another who also can't keep his facts straight and makes disparaging remarks about women and minorities then we shouldn't expect any better from this arrogant clown.

Not just a Million dollar donation to ndsu, but a Million dollar donation towards the now infamous ndsu president's home... Irony at it's finest.

    Quote

The William C. and Jane B. Marcil Charitable Foundation pledged $1 million each to NDSU and UND to pay for the two presidents' homes. William Marcil is publisher of The Forum and chairman and CEO of Forum Communications Co. The Marcils were not involved with how the money was spent on either home.
