A peek at Alabama's social elite:
-
I just had a premonition that Jim is about 3 posts away from blowing up this thread (even though it's rivalry week & it's not every year that Sioux football fans can talk smack on a national level)

jloos, Funny link you provided for us. Thanks. Should be quite a riot watching all those Beverly Hillbillies invading GF. "Garsh, ma, whuts ull dis white stuff on da ground?! Kan I play in it fur awhile?"

Phoenix is a very crime-ridden city & what happened to Dru happens here on a fairly-regular basis. This city is so full of illegal aliens, psychotic drivers & short-fused people that I wonder why I still live here. I refuse to let my wife ride the city bus because I'm not prepared to accept what could happen to her, aside from the drug needles that are frequently found between the seats. When I grew up in GF in the early '70's & '80's we still locked our front door but stuff like this never happened that I can recall. I can only imagine what was going through her mind at the moment she was abducted. Geez, my heart goes out to her & her family.

Don't know if you're aware of this but Alabama-Huntsville plays Div. I hockey.

That's a good idea. His babble would surely confuse them & would distract their attention away from the game. He could do a lot of damage deep behind enemy lines.

You mean like basketball, wrestling, baseball, etc? Sports in which they'll get throttled on a daily basis? What goober logic--wanting the prestige of a D1-AA program but sucking as a result instead of staying at the D-II level & at least being a contender. Are the Bison still in Fargo or did they relocate to Bismarck or something? Haven't read about them in awhile & was just wondering.

I respect your opinion, but I don't think it's so much denial as the fact that Minnesota's recent success has come against teams that aren't exactly powerhouses. 2 wins against Tech? Hmm, well, if people (not you, jk) want to call that a crowning achievement that's their prerogative; 2 wins in MI is pretty good but the Sioux also did that at the GLI 2 years ago when they were pretty awful. I never said they were bad & I believe they'll win their fair share of games this year; but to think they'll be a top 2 team in the league with their talented but inconsistent, "on-again off-again" forwards & spotty goaltenders is a bit of a stretch, imo. Just don't remind me at the end of the seson if you happen to be right, though

Never heard that saying before--good one

Hey, knucklehead, do you think before you write? There's nothing wrong with the guys we have now-be proud of them & support them. Wishing for players we don't have isn't exactly an ego-booster for Ziggy & JPar if they happen to read these boards. If you want other players on your team, maybe you should be playing fantasy hockey. Have a nice Sunday

Nice article, it's not very often that a team can field such a talented group of freshmen from top to bottom. Now, if they have similar success next year with another corps of overachievers we'll really be sitting pretty.
-
If I were a Gopher fan (gag), I don't know if I'd be breaking out the Asti Spumante just yet. 2 wins at home against Tech, a win against the Spartans (a team that has been mediocre ever since Mason left) & another win against the Wolverines who are obviously not a powerhouse this year. If the Gophers had strung together 4 consecutive wins against contenders I might think differently; as it stands, I think their fans have a false sense of confidence.

2 goals in 23 seconds, wow.
-
I prefer smaller KRACHS

Just a note that NHL-2-Night might be highlighting Sidney Crosby after the Redwings/Blues game on ESPN2... What happened to Michigan?? They've been a powerhouse the last 8 or so years & are really tanking it this year.

Welcome back, bro, just checked in & discovered that UMD had hijacked this message board Boy, it's been slow here the last few days. Good luck tonight.

Where's my fly swatter?

Franken was a SNL comedian back in the day but has de-evolved into a "lib-brool" hack.
-
Seriously, b.s. aside, thank you for not overreacting! Anyone who is anti-Franken is a-ok in my book...
-
Thx for not overreacting to what I wrote. I don't wish any bad for a guy who's busting his butt & giving it a 100% each & every night he plays. But I do wonder how the Sioux are going to perform in a couple years after the mass exodus...

How many scholarships is a team allowed to carry each year? I'm not so concerned about the Sioux this year & even the following year; but jimminy Christmas the 2005-06 season will mirror the 2001-02 season in terms of a ton of new freshmen playing. With probably the same results. It almost makes sense in a ruthlessly insincere sorta way to cut a couple of players after this year (underachievers with motivational problems or those having trouble keeping up talent-wise) in order to bring in additional freshmen next year--minimizing the drastic loss we'll see in '05-06'. I'm not endorsing this at all because I don't see them first-hand, but I wonder if the Sioux coaches are contemplating it. Any team losing 10 players is probably going to have a mediocre year & very likely not a championship year. It would be painful to watch another 2001-02 season when deep down you expect them to have at least an above avg. squad year in & year out...

I think the gov is the handsome, "outdoorsy" one

Liked the piece about how much Denver missed Matt Carle; the Sioux had a similar situation when they lost Jones & they didn't miss a beat. Just goes to show how deep we are this year. Very nice recap & very much appreciated!!
