  1. As I pretend to be College Hockey Amatuer General Manager I seem to have come across what could be an issue.

If Frisch and Moore are the only returners on d that gives us 1 righty and 1 lefty.

In looking through our future incoming D I count 1 righty and 7 lefties.

I think we may need 2-3 right handers, and would have to hit the portal to do so. i know it isn't a big deal to roster 5 and 3 but not sure we would want 6 and 2?

    This....

It took watching 22 play for about 15 minutes of ice time early on to see his skill level was completely different than almost everyone on the team. The fact he was a 4th line center late in the season on a team that struggled to score 5x5 is absurd.

The problem I think is that if you have Blake, Gaber, and McLaughlin out together it was fun to watch...when they had the puck, but not so much when they didn't have the puck because they didn't really have the ability(strength) to get it back.

Yes. 19-20 the season was halted early due to Covid.  20-21 was the pod season with limited attendance at games and anyone who played that season gets an extra year.

But if your school didn't play that season and you didn't transfer you are sh!t out of luck...or eligibiility.

When asked recently by Schlossman the coaches said defensive liability. If you're not better defensively than 4 and 24 you won't be seeing the ice.

Johnson played on a bad Sioux Falls team and looking at their stats it looks like they had one line and he was the offensive blue liner and Fantauzi was the defensive blue liner and they probably tried to get them out with Cole Sillinger and his line mates as often as possible. i don't know if I have ever seen a team with such disparity in statistics.

    Forwards

    Sillinger(Columbus) 46 points(31 games) +5, Russell(Mich St.) 33 points(54 games) +5, Haskins(Denver) 27 points(51 games) +1

    Pinoneimi(Minnesota) 37 points(50 games) -18, Citara(Providence) 35 points(51 games) -18, Toprowski(AHL) 33 points(32 games) -5

    Dineen(Yale) 25 points((51 games) 122 PIm -23, Pabich(Maine) 22 points(53 games) -16, Rhodes(Canadian college) 18 points(54 games) -15

    Defense

    Johnson(Portal) 32 points(47 games) +15, Fauntazzi(Sacred Heart) 17 points(34 games) +21

    Schweitzer(CC) 23 points(53 games) -18, Chabrier(Maine) 12 points(38 games) -16

    Tabakin(Yale) 6 points(31 games) -14, Schimek(Providence) 6 points(42 games) -14

I would guess the Coach was trying to negotiate as many media time outs as possible.

    Goalies that intrigue me:

-Kraws.  6'5, invited to Coyote camp last year.  2 years remain due to Covid year.

-Pavivich.  Big minutes in hockey east, two years left as well.

-Veltri.  Tons of games this past season.  Over 2,000 minutes in the net with 37 starts.

-Lush.  25 year old Canadian...Wooger would love it!!

If Close comes back for his Covid year the Gophers will already have a 25 year old Canadian goalie.

  6. Ryan St. Louis is an interesting name in the portal. Played a year at Northeastern and currently is playing in the USHL(55 points in 41 games). Only 19 years old and has 3 years of eligibility left. If i had to guess he will probably join his younger brother and current teammate at Dubuque, who is committed to Harvard.

  7. I would not want to be answering phones at the Scheels Arena ticket office tomorrow as people who bought tickets through UND call in to try and change the name of the people who will be picking up the tickets at will call and the shitstorm that will ensue if they are not accomadating.

Also, be interested to see if UND fans who are looking to sell their tickets have long memories....2011 Frozen Four in St. Paul was a bad experience for many UND fans as Gopher fans  had purchased a majority of the tickets and had no problem asking for 2-3 times face value from UND fans.....only frozen four this has happened at to my knowledge and experience.

  8. I have a freind who bought our tickets and he isn't going to be able to make it and he is unable to transfer them to me. It says they have to be picked up at will call. I am assuming he will be able to call and change them to my name tomorrow?

    edit

    Told to call tomorrow.

I think he does get the short end of the stick. Look at the series at Miami (Friday game). Gaber gets into it and throwing full on punches back and forth with a guy, gets 2+2.

30 seconds later in the scrum, Klevin goes at it - it looks objectively less than Gabers mix up and receives 5 + game. WTF?

Western Michigan at the Ralph. Ref jumps out of way of puck that Tyler is chasing down and turns his head away from the play. WMU lays a text book 5 minute checking from behind hit on Kleven and puck squirts toward corner and Kleven gets up(rather than lay on ice) and the puck comes back towards him and he gets up and starts moving puck behind the net and receives 3 successive slashes and gives WMU player a cross check and gets one in return and then gives WMU player another cross check and hits him in shoulder and the hit continues and makes head contact. Is that a penalty on Kleven? Sure, contact to head. Does the play happen if the referee doesn't give the WMU player carte blanche to commit 21 minutes worth and 4  blatant penalties on Kleven since he is the larger, stronger player? Tyler gets a 5 and 10 and WMU player receives nothing for a dangerous hit and then 3 slashes to instigate the entire situation. Kleven was on receiving end of far more uncalled penalties than he committed this season.

  10. Does anyone know the reason or circumstance that F.I.U. was in this tournament? Are they considered the host team or something?

8th place team from Conference USA and lost their last 8 games prior to arriving in Kentucky?

Oh my, imagine a 2021 round 2 (#58 overall) by Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick going portal and leaving!

Wait, he went from Minnesota to Denver last summer: Tristan Broz

    Take a breath.

Again, many on this board are over valuing draft status. Other than 1st or 2nd rounders the odds of playing in NHL for those drafted later is about the same as those who are undrafted free agents.

IMHO we've got to recruit Minnesota better.  So many good high school goaltenders in the state that with a year or two of junior hockey development would be capable college goaltenders.

Karl or Zane a great example.  No reason for us to have to take a gamble on a kid from Sweden that no one has seen play live.

Why don't we grab a 20-21 year old goalie from the NAHL? Seems to work for Duluth and Mankato and others.

Agreed but I think Erikson had the counting stats. Like you said, would be a shock if Dissette doesn’t win.

    Erickson 16.8 ppg, 10 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.1 blk

    Doppler 14.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.7 apg, 2.6 stl.

Century was pretty balanced with 4 players averaging between 13.6 and 16.8 points per game

It looks like the place where the FF pregame party was - Boston or Philly (?) a few years ago. Here's a funny story. UND had the first, second and third floors. Someone from another fanbase came in, looked a "tad" confused, and asked where their team's party was. I told him it's on the forth floor. The look on his face was priceless.

That was in Boston and it was Omaha.

This is their fourth year of countable competition and that’s all you get.

The 2020-21 is not a countable year for anyone.

Yeah, not really arguing the semantics just pointing out that while 20-21 didn't count for anyone, most players played around 30 games that year while their school played 0.

Sidorski is a grad transfer I believe but Jandric was a transfer I believe....Just find it odd that somehow Lindsay Scott Jr. found his way onto a college football roster for 6 teams over 7 years.
