  1. I actually forgot too. Thankfully I magically remembered somehow at noon. It would be interesting to see what other SS members won.

I won the Walski swift, now all i need is a white home to "complete" my Sioux gamer collection. Sorry, Big A, I didn't win either of those that you want :glare:

  2. Rain will do nothing to them. They are fiberglass or something similar (it has been 10 years since I sat on them so I can't remember for sure). I don't know if extreme cold will do anything to them or not.

Using them outside would cause deterioration, i think. I see those seats and I automatically think of fiberglass playground equipment and benches, lawn furniture, etc. I hope whoever had them in their backyard would treat them better than the general public would. I just see them getting faded and cracked pretty quickly. If i had such a room, I'd put them in a sports/bar room in my basement. Use them as a bench for the bar instead of stools.

  3. The Blackhawk logo is going nowhere. Plain and simple, and you can take that to the bank. Changing the name of an Original Six has an ice cube's chance in hell. And, yes, I am aware of the history of the the Blackhawk name.

  4. This would be nice. The last few years I've been creating WCHA teams in the NHL series and filling their rosters with former players in the game. It gets pretty time consuming.

  5. I think the bigger picture is that this is the first time success has walked onto the field at Wrigley since 1945. And I realize the Cubs didn't win it all in 1945, but at this point, I think them just MAKING the World Series is a monumental achievement.

I remember toward the end of the regular season the Cubs went to a game wearing white away jerseys (at the UC). As soon as they showed them, I said out loud, well shoot, we're losing this game. I think the Hawks actually did win. I'm not sure why you'd allow them in the building, keep that bad juju away. The following night the White Sox attended a game wearing the red home jerseys. Hawks won that game too. I thought it was pretty funny that the Sox and Cubs wore the different colored jerseys. Can't show up looking the same.

  6. Haha...Pens self-destructing already.

10 seconds into the game, Crosby gets called for boarding.

15 seconds later, another delayed penalty on the Pens, but the Habs score before the whistle blows anyways only 32 seconds in.

    WOOOHOOOO

Wait, what? Crosby got CALLED for a penalty?

  7. The thing I don't like about the 3D is that it feels like you're watching whatever through a window. I'd rather have the image "pop out" and not "pop in," more like a hologram. I already wear glasses so I don't want to be putting another pair on top of those 3D ones. Current 3D is a $12 gimick best left for overpriced movie theaters.

Any takers on the Habs tonight? I am.

Rask steals one for the B's.

  8. 52" would be huge. My friend in Grand Forks has a 65" DLP. He had some fishing show on one day waiting for hockey to start on Versus. You almost got sea sick from it.

    HD was made for hockey.

  9. ... and according to some on this board, he didn't leave a legacy at UND.

    Dumb.

You don't have to hang the hardware to leave/continue the legacy of Fighting Sioux athletics. I think the way he represents our our hockey club leaves more of a impression on people than him hanging a banner in the Ralph ever would have. You think anyone in Chicago or the NHL or on the international stage cares he didn't win a college national championship (rhetorical question)? I doubt it. Not saying I wouldn't have appreciated a banner or two :D

  10. How about Jonny T's game winning goal last night to put Nashville away!

Did anyone else catch the end of the game after the handshake? Toews was the last one on the ice and before he walked down the tunnel he picked out a little guy and handed his stick to him. Special moment for the young guy and I'm sure he'll remember that moment for years to come. And it just goes to show what type of person Jonathan is.

What was just as huge were his 2 faceoff wins with Rinne on the bench. I did see him hand out his stick, what a great guy. Toews is the kind of guy everyone roots for. I know a few people who are DIE HARD fans of the Gophers & Red Wings, even they roots for Toews.

  11. Not media stories per se, but three letters in the Herald today from UND Hockey Letter winners.

I wish the "outsiders" would see how much we respect the name and imagery. We may not know everything about the Native culture, but we know enough to know a small sample of the honor, tradition and pride in which the represent themselves. It is that in which we try to aspire.

  12. He had an AMAZING chance to tie it in the 3rd at 2 when CHI had that 2 on 1. I was celebrating the goal before he even shot it. I couldn't tell if Rinne got a piece but it sailed high. Oh well, we'll get 'em Sunday

  13. I think Howard can carry you for a deep push. He doesn't need to be stellar, just make a few big key saves and Lidstrom Inc will take care of the rest. But you know the Wings a lot better than I do. Out of all the teams in the West, I'd be least comfortable playing Detroit. That would be a battle for the ages.

  14. Not that I have anything on Howard, but...

How awesome would it be to see Vokoun in Red Wing red? (Don't answer that. I'm sure you're not a Wings fan :( )

As to what you said, Vokoun would DEFINITELY be a welcome addition to Chicago.

That being said, I'd be STUNNED if Vokoun didn't end up a Flyer or Maple Leaf.

As for Turco, I think he's done as a starting goaltender. He's another Osgood in a way. Had his heyday. I think Turco can market himself as a decent platoon goaltender or top notch backup.

Osgood, however, should gracefully retire. That guy is a disaster right now.

Okay then, I won't :silly:, my sig and avatar make it fairly obvious where my allegiance lies. As much as I hate the wings, you gotta respect a team like that. By the way I was in Chicago for the March 8th game against the wings, the one where Huet let in 5 goals in the second period for a 5-4 loss. I was never a huge fan of him, but I made the trip from Bismarck to watch the game and that sealed the deal for me.

  15. I was being pretty sarcastic as I'm sure you gathered :(. He can make that many saves, just in the situation you described. It looks like Neimi gets the nod for the playoffs anyway. He's hot right now so I'm fine with that. Too bad they have 5.8m wrapped up in Huet, which is more than Brodeur makes. Looks like Vokoun and Turco are free agents now :silly: much better goalies than Huet. The plus is I think the Hawks D will have few troubles shutting down the Pens. It will be fun to watch. Either way you slice it, it's nice seeing so many Sioux and former WCHA'ers in the playoffs.

How about NJ vs. CHI for Lord Stanley's cup, I'm drooling just thinking about it (as far as 3 sioux being in it goes anyway).

  16. Great game and a wildly intense finish! The only thing better than hockey... is playoff hockey!!!! I'm pulling for the Sens in this one. It's nice to see the WCHA represented well in the playoffs, is there a list of all the formers somewhere? I could figure it out myself i suppose, but I get lazy.

Anyone else fill out a bracket on nhl.com?

I've got SJS, CHI, DET, LAK winning first round in the West and WAS, OTT, NJ, BUF in the East.

  17. I voted. This took off like a rocket the first day but has died off considerably since the first 24 hours. While in the grand scheme of things it won't mean diddly, it would be nice to gather a large showing. Seriously people it takes 13 seconds to sign this petition!!

  18. I think it's due to these East schools being so small and fast, WCHA teams are huge and slow in comparison to them. BC woudln't last in the WCHA, it would wear them down too much, but in a 1 game scenario they hold the advantage.
