  1. Just bought my flood insurance. I'm a 'preferred risk' so it only cost $326. I just hope if it's going to flood, it holds off for at least 30 days. :silly:

Climatologically the crest isn't until 1/3 the way through April roughly, assuming you're in the FM area. I'm sure you already saw the article though:

    Linky

There was a webinar hosted by the NWS today I listened in on, Fargo has a 30-40% chance of reaching 1997 levels and 20% chance of reaching 2009 levels. Sounds like major flooding throughout most of the midwest as well. Crazy, yet unfortunate, weather pattern we got sucked into this winter... again...

  2. True, it's hard to put much stock in long range models, but it would seem that it won't be warming up for a while anyway. The stage is set, we'll have to see how it plays out. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

  3. I sat through a NOHRSC (National Operational Hyrdrologic Remote Sensing Center) discussion about a month ago, they said flooding was almost a certainty, now the situation is even worse. There's another presentation today in Bismarck, I'll probably sit in on too. There's a general 5-6" of water sitting in the snow in the valley, the only thing we can hope for is a SLOW melt with ZERO rain. Situation is bleek, but there's still a lot that needs to happen before the world ends. It never hurts to be prepared though. Either way, we're in for a wild ride again. I'm sorry for all of you who are at risk, best of luck.

  4. Yeah, because what player doesn't want to play on that slop-fest "grass" field?

I won't take SDSU's stadium serious until they get turf. The NCAA should require any DI outdoor football stadium north of some climate line to have turf.

I love watching football on a wet, rainy, muddy field. I also like playing on such fields. That's classic rough and tough gridiron football, brusied, bloody and dirty!

  5. has anyone her purchased an official jersey off nhl.com recently? talk about cheaply made. maybe these knockoffs will force them to raise the bar/lower their price.

I bought a replica Blues jersey, the Preimer version, off NHL.com. The crest on the front was stitched and of moderate quality and the name/numbers were heat pressed plasticky material, they were pretty detailed though. It cost $100. I'm happy okay with it for now, but I'll be buying an EDGE soon, right after I get my Bllues Game Issued. I would assume the EDGE jeresys are made up to very high standards. The bottom line to ALL this, replica, authentic, game worn, counterfit, etc, etc, is you get what you pay for. Plain and simple.

  6. Not this again. Sorry but that's the same crappy thing that's been on eBay for forever and a day it seems. I first saw them in March last year, but that was when the Hawks played the Devils and Brodeur got the regular season wins record. So no green jerseys that year. They did make a practice jersey, but I don't recall them having names/numbers on them. Although I could be wrong on that.

Double stiching and nice patches and fight straps, don't mean anything, and for this all it means is it's a well made counterfit (if you even want to call this one that). But a counterfit nontheless. I'll take the real deal over a well made fake anyday, no matter the price, and I'm not exactly rolling in the dough. It's a lot more satisfying for me to work hard save my money and purchase a quality product that I can show off with pride. Because face it that's the only reason we buy jerseys, to show them off. To be completely honest, even if there was a legit version of that jersey, I would not even think about, thinking about buying it. It's so ugly and awkward looking. The practice one looks much better to me anyway, and is an acutal 100% real Reebok product.

    But.... To each his own....

  7. Hambone, I can't say I agree with you on Sundogs...all I can think of is a Spuds McKenzie commercial. And your comment on "dispatching" Flickertails is a big reason against the nickname (those ain't no "Fightin" Flickertails).

If we became the Flickers would an (in)famous picture of Hakstol be our new moniker?

Understandable, Sun Dogs is a cool phenomena that happens around here, but yeah, that stupid dog. I don't see refracted light as being to marketable either (what would colors be, what would the uniforms look like? etc). And as for those Flickertails, they were pretty easy targets in every sense imaginable, and quite fun to "hunt." We'll see how things play out, only time will tell, nothing will be better than the Fighting Sioux in all our opinions, but at this point there's nothing we can do but sit and wait. I just hope we keep Green Black and White for athletic colors so i can get by without buying all new stuff :)

  8. For whatever reason, Flickertails is growing on me. It's a former nickname of the university, and it's unique to only us. No, it's not fierce, and yes, a flickertail is too similar to a Gopher for even my liking, but for the stated reasons, it's worth considering in my book. I'm not saying we SHOULD be the Flickertails, only that it isn't as disgusting sounding now as it originally did.

To tell you the truth I partially agree, I wouldn't be EXCITED if that was the new nickname, but I'd be moderatly satisfied. With how many of those poor little guys i "dispatched" this summer I suppose I owe it to honor them :) . I'm in the same boat with Sun Dogs, but then again I make my living as a Meteorologist, soooooo......

  9. Correct. There is an 86% chance of hitting major flood stage in Fargo (30 ft.) and a 10% of hitting 40.1 ft. These % were given out prior to the last 9-10" of snow this past weekend. The new revised flood forecast comes out, I believe, on Feb. 19. This will take into account the snow from this last storm.

It will be interesting to see the updated model run. You figure there's probably another inch of water in that new snow, yikes!

is this the weather forum? :)

I'll go with, yes, I'm just along for the ride. It does beat talking about the Gophers in yet another thread about them. As well as the rumor factory that is Blais and him coaching every team besides UNO next year. Granted flooding has nothing to do with "Men's Hockey." Maybe I missed something, but isn't he under contract for next year?

  10. It goes without saying there will most likely be some sort of retaliation. If so, let's get it out of the way right away and focus on winning games. Febuary is going to be a stressful and hopefully exciting month. Go Sioux!

  11. I am also looking for a Nike Swift. If anyone has a blank "team issued" swift that's what I am most interested in. Otherwise a X-XL replica would work as well. Shoot me a PM. Thanks all!

  12. I've looked in the past and am 99% sure they are not. That almost exactly a year ago though. Email the Ralph maybe they'll be gracious enough to post it on their website or somewhere else. That would be cool to have it for those of us not fortunate enough to make the games.

  13. You are such a wise man; a sage almost. But I didn't say much about their record...more to the style of hockey that's being played and how they've done in the big games over the past 5 years. The way people around here try to stay so positive it sounds to me like they are happy with the status quo.....that just getting there is the feat in and of itself! I remember back when our winning percentage in the NCAA's was over 70% and we showed up for big games. I'm not seeing that under this regime. Just my two cents and being it's not glowingly positive I guess I should have kept that to myself.....

You can still be upset with a team and remain positive. In no way does that mean you are happy with the status quo. It all depends on how you deal with adversity, do you look to the future or dwell on the past? That being a retorhical question.

  14. I'm also a lifelong Viking fan. I'm used to adversity......GO SIOUX!

A life long Viking fan with a Patroit avatar? :D Having a loud and rowdy croud could really get the guys pumped up, they play a full 60 why can't we scream and yell for a full 60?

  15. I call 4 straight Frozen Fours, a MacNaughton Cup, a Broadmoor Trophy, Coach of the Year, 142-77-23 record (from wikipedia, not the best site but was easy) a helluva coach. How many teams in this country would give anything for that? Winning a national championship isn't something you just wake up one day do. It would seem there are some newcomers that joined only to piss and moan about Hakstol, being Sunday morning coach is easy, I'd like to see those of you do any better. I've heard of so many former players of Hakstol saying how great of a coach he is. I'll take their word for it over some moron, who just discovered the internet and decided to shoot their mouth off about something, in which, they have no first hand experience. Have any of us played for him? My guess is no. Since I don't either, I'll stick to the numbers which satisfy me right now. Sure like anyone I want an NCAA title too, but I know how hard they are to win. This is one "less than stellar" season which isn't even over yet. Name 1 coach, any sport, with credentials like that who was fired after one season of mediocracy. I'm done posting in this useless, idiotic, waste of time thread.

    In Hak I trust.
