    Final Five

Just a quick point about the complaining that the #1 seed should play the late game. If you look at the other three major conferences, the #1 seed plays the early game in all of them. Why? Because the #1 deserves the extra rest before the championship game. A point about the "Minnesota Rule". This is something that is voted on by all 10 members of the WCHA. Blame all the schools in the WCHA for voting for it, not Minnesota. If the Final Five is in Wisconsin, then it would be the same for them. This tournament is where the WCHA makes its money, so they do what they can to maximize that.
  4. I just checked the schedules on USCHO and found out something interesting. The CCHA, ECAC, and HE all have their #1 seeds playing in the early game. Looks like they give the #1s more rest as a bonus for winning the league.
  5. PCM, sorry the rant about the "Minnesota rule" wasn't really directed at you. It was more for the people that were complaining that Minnesota decides everything and always gets what they want. The other schools all had a say and this is what we get because of it. About the tv schedule, I can only go on what they have done in the past. I'm sure they would find a way to show it, but they do also have to show those worthless shows too. It's just easier with the night games because of what I said before. I'm sorry I kind of went off about it, it was just bugging me so see a lot of uninformed complaining. I hope a station up there picks up the broadcast so you guys can see it.
  6. PCM, the last two years at least the Friday afternoon game was the only one not shown. I know the shows they play during that time are worthless, but they also have to show them as part of their affiliation with Fox Sports Net. The night games are easier because that is when all FSN stations have slots open for live coverage of games. This goes for Saturday afternoon as well. The "Minnesota Rule" - I'm getting tired of all the whining about this. The WCHA decides this. The 10 member schools vote on this. Unless Minnesota's vote counts for 10 while all other schools count as 1, then there are at least 5 other schools that vote for it. They do this because the money from the tournament is split evenly among the schools. They want to maximize revenue so they put Minnesota in the night spot to do it. Maybe you guys should find our if UND is one of the yes votes before you continue your whine fest. I'll admit I don't like the rule, but until the WCHA schools decide differently that is the way it is.
  7. Two losses. They changed the rules either last year or the year before and anything decided in overtime, including holiday tournaments, goes into the books as a win or loss. Holiday tourneys that use a shootout to decide the outcome, go into the record books as ties.
  8. Just to hopefully stop some of the whining about the Gophers playing on Friday night rule, YOUR schools voted for it because they like the extra money. The ticket revenue gets split up between WCHA schools, so of course they want to maximize sales. Rumor has it that the last time it was voted on, the result was 9-1 in favor with only Minnesota voting against.
  9. Just a little correction there Federov, it was the other way around. The Gopher player was called for hooking and the Anchorage player, I believe Steward, was called for diving.
  10. This is not really true in the NCAAs. Think about how many strong defensive teams with little offense have won the National Championship lately. A team has to be balanced well with offense and defense with some timely goaltending. In a one loss and you are out tournament, if you defense or goaltending is bad once, you are out. Look at Cornell last year, or Michigan State the three years before. A balanced team with serviceable goaltending will go farther, an example my team, Minnesota the last two years, BC the year before that, UND (they had solid goaltending but were still well balanced).
  11. Sioux fans, please ignore this idiot. Trolls go away much faster when you don't respond. Don't Feed the Trolls.
  12. Goon, have you read this post by a fellow Sioux fan? The wave off of the goal on Saturday was the correct call.
  13. I hate to break up a good rip fest here, but how about we look at what the actual quote was. Woog said "Who on the Mavericks can match up with Vanek, Tallackson.......Who can shoot a puck like Ballard, not many in the country." I'm a gopher fan and I know the FSN announcers are homers and deserve to be ripped at times, but at least do it on something legitimate like the UND hasn't played anyone quote.
