  1. Was curious about the road issues, so dug a little deeper. Went back to 2018, which counting this year, is about 5 full seasons worth (given 2021 spring season was less than a full season).

    Total Record: 9-22 (gross)
    FBS Games: 0-4
FCS vs. Top 5 opponents: 1-7
FSC vs. Top 6-15 opponents: 0-2
FCS vs. Top 16-25 opponents: 0-4
    FCS vs. Unranked opponents: 8-5

Pull out FBS, and Top 15 opponents, where very few programs are going to have a super high winning percentage on the road, and the record is 8-9. That's the area that shouldn't be that hard to improve. Not sure what a realistic winning percentage in that category is but probably around 75% or higher. Take care of the low hanging fruit, and then the other ones become more attainable.

Don't blow MSU and hold on at SIU and USD two years ago and you're already getting pretty close.

I think this is a bigger deal than people realize. Tommy's lack of (or pretty much non-existent) emotion/fire as the starting QB and 'leader' of this team hurts tremendously.

Based on conversations with coaching staff, players, parents and others close to the program, I will respectfully disagree. They are all behind going to battle with him. Just because he isn't yelling and screaming doesn't mean he isn't a leader, doesn't have fire or isn't a competitor.

Quincy Vaughn has spoke publicly about it at a few different events I've attended. He knew Tommy was the leader of the team, knew he wasn't going to pass him on the depth chart and wanted to do whatever he could to help the team which is why he went and asked about switching positions. Also, kudos to him for not taking the easy way out and transferring and also credit to the staff for building the kind of culture that student athletes are willing to make choices like that rather than leaving to go elsewhere.

Does Tommy have any comebacks in the past 3 years?

Have we had any comebacks with Tommy?

Depends what you consider a comeback but:
Last year we were down in the 3rd to UNI, down in the 4th to NAU, down in the 3rd to MSU, down in the 4th to YSU, scored with 10 seconds left in the half to take the lead against USD, down late in the 2nd against ACU.

Two years ago, we were tied with ISU in the 4th and down two scores in the 4th against YSU.

Three years ago, we were down to SDSU late in the 3rd.

So yeah, it looks like he's managed at least coming from behind more than a few times.

Yes, I'm aware it was a different poster which I was I said I hope it was more in-depth than that high bar of qualification.

    On to next week.....

You still didn't answer my question. Who am I supposed to email this time?

The world is your oyster. Make sure you include your resume this time though, maybe you'll get more traction.
Hopefully it is more in-depth than a few bike rides by practice.

    He has resurrected!!!

Still waiting to hear who I should email to get us a new QB

Kind of concerning you apparently spent the weekend waiting for my input. Wasn't going to squander the last nice weekend of the year watching people get some sort of strange enjoyment out of feeling they were "right" because UND lost and reading the same old hot-takes and made up arguments. Wasn't hard to predict 95% of the posts I did bother reading.

All I will say is that if what you took away from that game was a QB change was the missing link for different results, you've confirmed exactly what is fairly obvious about your great football mind.

I recall a key pass, Tommy to a former 'yote, in the NDSU game, on a dime, over 30 yards.

Amazing what can happen when you don't have to throw off your back foot with 2-3 guys breaking through before WR's have ran their routes.
Not sure why the OL (and DL) were such a mess this week but that needs to be fixed immediately. The rest will take care of itself.

I'm not sure how anyone like @jdub27 or @SD UND can read this post and decide to talk about Brady D and his ability/non-ability to shoot the ball lol Out of all the possibilities!

Stats are stats. His 3 point shooting has improved significantly the last two years. That's all facts that aren't going to change.
No one implied that any of that means he should be leading the team in minutes or 3 pointers shot.

Ross sure spent a lot of time in Grand Forks for being a NDSU student, I wish I could find a photo of him with a Sioux jersey on…….

Do we know who that was?

    Trevor Gebhart, former ndsu WR.

They held back a fair amount by not using Ross Uglem's commentary. Selling live look-ins at him watching the game probably would pay a good chunk of Entz's buyout...

    • Brady - if he shoots 35% again this year we are all beyond ecstatic. Career 31% shooter.

For full disclosure, he shot 36.4% two years ago and 35.8% last year, both above his career average.
With the work he's put in, would be choking to see him fall back near where he was the first two years he was on campus.

    UND already owns the farm...

I hope this comment was a massive exaggeration.  You are basically stating that coaching doesn't matter and that Bubba is no different than Saban.

Strategy obviously matters, but so does execution on the players part. Plenty of blame (and credit to go around)
Bad snaps in Boise threw off the whole offense. That wasn't an issue at all previously this year and hasn't been since.
Untimely turnovers turned the game quickly. Need to play clean.

Big game tomorrow, players and coaches need to stay in the moment and execute to their potential.

  15. Patty V on the FCS playoff selection committee process last year: "It sucked"

Interesting to hear her openly talk about the commissioners going as far to right a paper outlining expectations, meeting with the selection committee and expanding on their expectations. One of the big things is that strength of schedule will be focused on more and they will at least acknowledge Massey and Sagarin. All good things for the MVFC.

Bubba was a good defensive coach. You would think all this week he would be helping Joel and working together with him to work on defensive schemes to stop the SU ground game. I'd love to see the same type of defensive performance we saw against MSU in 2019 and against NDSU in 2021.

They know what they need to do. Just need to execute. Stay in the moment, do you job.

    I agree!

UND does a good job of keeping the campus community and public up to date on campus projects at the its Campus Renewal Blog: https://blogs.und.edu/campus-renewal/

UND is not all about razing buildings. It's a mix of razing and reno projects on campus:

    Recent renovations are:

    Wilkerson

    Brannon Hall

    Harrington (partial reno)

    MCCannel Hall (partial reno)

    Merrifield

    Chester Fritz Library

    Carnegie Building

Old Stone House (president's house) now called Gershman Graduate Center.

    Education building

    O'Kelly Hall (Partial reno)

    Law School Baker Court Room

    More planned renovations:

    Noren Hall

    Selke Hall

    Columbia Hall?

  18. What's even a trick play anymore? Screen? Counter? Reverse? Jet-sweep? RPO? Wildcat? Option?
All of those include some sort of misdirection or action to deceive the defense.

Don't really care what UND runs, just make sure they execute it.

couldn't fenton do the "lock it up" threat......u leave oly...nchc will say goodbye to your hockey team and have fun against robert morris

Considering they are currently separate entities, I don't think that will work all that well.
I'm sure Heather Weems probably wouldn't appreciate it either.

That being said, Fenton, Weems and Viverito will all be doing a panel at the UND Booster Luncheon Friday at the Memorial Union and taking questions. Seems like a good chance to get some of the answers you are looking for.

Fans have to “think” about going to games on Saturday, so you may be in fact the one talking in circles.

Anyways, Saturday will be a fun atmosphere because it’s always the biggest football game of the year in the state of North Dakota. Hopefully UND - somehow, under some miracle - finds a way to show up big time.

OK. I guess we need to get the message out to the fans to not be overconfident. It's apparently on them if they do and it turns ugly.

Agreed on the second part, though I won't be as shocked as you if they do. They knocked off the #7 team in the country last year, would love to see them do it again.

Yeah, right … I’m sure the players would love playing in an empty Alerus Center …

Oddly enough (and to prove you’re delusional), the fans and the home field advantage on Saturday is the ONLY reason UND might pull off the upset on Saturday. No chance this current UND fb program with “deer in headlights” coaching staff during big games could win in Fargo.

Who said anything about an empty Alerus Center? The place will be packed and fans are going to show up and cheer loudly. My comment was specifically that what those fans think is not going to directly impact the game, they are going to be heard regardless. And hopefully have an impact with their actions.
All I can gather from your comments, which you stated wasn't directed at anyone playing the actual game, is that over-confident fans (or coaches maybe?) is going to lead to an ugly game. Or you're just talking yourself in circles.

Again, no one on the field or in a coaching booth thinks that UND will win because NDSU is or isn't having a down year (for them). And I think the jury is still out on that. Anyone tied to the UND team knows they are still underdogs in the game and need to show up and play well to have a shot at knocking off NDSU.

Maybe you can clarify directly on who you were referring to about "UND" thinking they can win and that would clear everything up.

If UND thinks they can win simply because NDSU has fallen down to the pack, then this will get ugly.
