Great seeing you around The X there Shawn-o. That tournament is always a might right fun time, but doubly so when the Sioux are the last team on the ice long after the final horn has sounded.

I just gave my nephew a Parise card from his Fighting Sioux days. Still in the cellophane wrap. He'll pay for a couple of weeks rent, or beer money, someday if he keeps that piece of cardboard in good shape.

I ain't never met any of them there so-called smart kids from Boston. I almost went to BC many moons ago, but decided to knock up my girlfriend instead. Thank God for the little things in life.

Yikes Mike. This makes solid sense. I was not aware of the Conn Smythe design. The WCHA is a historic conference, best by far in all of college hockey history. Too bad they don't let guys like you and me run that show. Who is that guy in your avatar?

Cool. Thanks a million. I knew some of this stuff, but far from all of it. Still, why the ugly design? Of course, I don't have too much of an eye for art. An ear for it maybe, but not much of an eye. Speaking of the Broadmoor, how about that 1960's league video distributed with the ticket packages? Pretty cool history there as well. Go Sioux!

Nice photos Bob and John and everyone else. We had the pleasure of being right on the glass for the game. Action up close during great games is a blast. Stunning at times, especially seeing the emotion and the fatigue in the players' eyes and expressions. Great win. I retact my earlier prediction that the Sioux would go 6-1 in their last seven games and win the National Championship. On an entirely related subject, and because it certainly does not merit a new thread, and sorry if this has already been discussed elsewhere, does anyone else find that "new" Broadmoor Trophy to be about the dumbest and ugliest design that ever graced a hockey tournament trophy? I do believe that they are trying to depict the Broadmoor Hotel, no? The old trophy was classic. Perhaps it fell apart. Perhaps it has been lost, or stolen even. Perhaps, most likely, it just ran out of room and they did not want to add to it. Still, a cast of some stupid hotel? Am I missing something here? Why the ugly new trophy? Why the ugly design? My apologies to the artist and to the committee of folks who said to themselves and to each other, "Yes, this looks good. Let's go with it."

Seven more games in the season. Sioux go 6-1 in this stretch. That loss will come on Saturday night to St. Clown. The Number 8 train is leaving the station, starting tonight. All aboard!!

We'll be all over the arena. Have big guestlist of nephews, high rollers, and hot women to accomodate. Once I sit all of them in the premium seats, I'll take what's left. We have 107, Rows 2 and 10 I believe, 125, Row 1, and 224, Row 1. I'll be the guy in the #29 Cookowski/Cookacknov/Cookonovich jerseys, with beads and the Sioux dredlock hat. Give me a hard slap if you see me. Lord knows, I both need and deserve one. Should be a great game tonight. I will be in 224 with daughter and lady friend as I first give to others before taking for myself. With youngsters in tow, between games we will likely be hanging in one of the Lowertown dive bars that look the other way when juveniles come in and order themselves a beverage. Sioux yeah yeah.

These teams are pretty well matched in talent. Motivation for both will be sky high. Here is where conditioning will play big. Third game in three days. Sioux rolling four lines to Gophers shorting up their bench a shade last night in the third period. Chokes run out of gas. Crowd carries the Sioux. We play in against Duluth on Thursday night.

Good catch to Siouxrunner on the "three years" as well. Those were the days. All sports. No freshmen on varsity. Mighta been designed to protect scrubs like me but even with no freshmen allowed I could barely make the speech and debate club team. I thought that he had graduated before he died. As Johnny Prine would say, Terry Casey was in heaven before he died. That #12 will hit the rafters someday. Maybe next year, after we make the room for Championship Banner No. 8.

Can't find anything close under either a "K" or a "C". Don't remember him, but like The Whistler says, I don't remember many names from then, only the fast action, the chicken wire, the hanging smoke, and the smell of booze in the air. And how cold it often was. In a span of but thirty short years, our arenas went from horse-and-buggy to jet aireoplane. I am going to ask The Ralph to consider hanging that jersey up there in the rafters sometime soon. Not as big as or next to Ralph's, but it oughta be up there. I was twelve in the summer of '68, and remember the stories in the Heardit, and the sadness and shock that surrounded the tragedy. Casey played on the same teams as did Dennis Hextall, Brett's Pa.

Wow. That's right. It was before his senior year. Summer of 1968. The country and world were upside down. Here is Casey's line per 75 Years of Fighting Sioux Hockey History book: '63-'66 C/W GP-88 57-61-118 7/14 Great Falls, MT.

Thanks a million for the info and the recollection. Terry Casey. One of the Fighting Sioux's finest, and probably the only, or one of the only, Sioux hockey players from the Big Sky. Killed in a head on shortly after his senior year. Just as tragic of a story as was George Pelawa's who, sadly, never donned the uniform as his last senior year was in the high school.

How about some new blood on this board, eh? Things kind of start bogging down mid-week of a Sioux-Gophers series. So, some will remember, either having seen him skate in The Barn, or from following history, the story of Terry Casey. All American from the mid-60's. A Montana boy of all places. Casey was later killed in a car crash. In Montana I believe. Shortly after his career had ended as I recall. Here are my questions. When was he killed? Was it in Montana? What was his number? Haven't the Sioux also retired that number along with Ralph's? If so, why ain't it hanging in the rafters? Or is it? Ralph and Terry. #23. #12 I'm thinking. Two great Sioux players from the yesteryears.

Great news. We sit in 110 and love being close to the band. The march between 2nd and 3rd is also a can't miss blast. The crowd oughta give the band more ovations and applause in the arena. If not there, then here. Have fun and thanks again.

Anyone know if the band is going to be playing this weekend? We sit right near the band, and it is an absolute blast. Live bands are one of the main reasons why the college hockey experience has it all over experiencing hockey live at any other level. Here is hoping to see the band this weekend, and at The Final Five, and in the West Regional, and at the Ford Field. The piccolos have never sounded better than this year. It is amazing to hear what they add to the full band sound.
