I guess when I heard Hak was leaving, I wanted to think continuity. First guy that came to my mind was Berry because of his NHL experience behind the bench. No he wasn't the bench boss but he was an assistant in the big show. That counts for something. As a matter of fact, Hak tried to take him to Philly with him. Must mean something? Answer to your first, Strickland is a Kevin Gorg type of a guy who is a rink side reporter for the Blues. He is trying to make a name for himself. I really think he reads this site for quite a bit of information about UND recruits. On the second question, I have a feeling it isn't an all of the sudden. If he was going to leave, I feel he would have a month ago. There are a lot of questions up in the air in St Louis and he may be thinking that UND is a more stable situation for himself.

I have to believe that Hextall would have some say in who the assistants are. I would think that this talk with Hak was already held and he probably declined, based on Berry's statement.

We all know that UND likes to hire from within the family. I have been thinking of former players/coaches that may come back. Berry no doubt has many connections with former alumni. In another thread I threw out Mike Commedore as a name. I have been informed from others on here that he is rather rough around the edges. After doing some research, a name that comes to mind is someone who was at the press conference. Tarek Howard makes lots of sense. He is a former room mate and has some coaching experience? Who else would be a good candidate?
