The Frozen Faceoff is just FOUR WEEKS AWAY!  It's time to start the roll call!  Get out of downtown St Paul and the madness and come to Little Canada, 10 minutes away, and OWN the bar for a few hours.  The Hoggsbreath is kid-friendly and has a great menu selection - from breakfast to burgers and more.  Yes, alcohol is served, for those of you who enjoy Saturday morning mimosas (cough, cough, @ringneck28 and @yzerman19 , cough, cough) along with other beverages.

We'll have introductions of visitors for those who are new, some raffle items, and some items available for purchase that you will likely not find anywhere else.  Come and meet some of the faces behind the board monikers.  We'll also continue the tradition of "Sioux Fan Storytime," where you can enjoy some fan favorite moments of yesterday.  Some of my personal favorite quips were of @Wilbur constantly having to correct his dad over "Holy Cross" vs "Sacred Heart" as Wilbur Sr. confused the two and when a couple of GPL'ers showed up a few years ago and @Shawn-O broke out the "you guys seem pretty cool...it's a shame the other 18,000 have to ruin it for you" line, which just about made me spit my Mountain Dew all over the place.  And, yes, @Goon will get to hear his favorite on more time - how I am personally responsible for losing the 1998 regional game against Michigan at Yost Ice Arena.  I didn't have the heart to tell Peter Armbrust and Brad DeFauw when I saw them in January that it really wasn't the their fault, it was mine.

I'm told that @sprig 's family will be making an appearance this year and am excited to see them and share some laughs - and maybe a tear or two - with them.  You won't want to miss this one.

    MafiaMan +2 to 4

I would like to say I wish I could be there this year, but I am going to be in Kauai for my honeymoon.  I'll definitely be having a Mia Tai or some other tropical drink as I watch the games.  I'm hoping that I can watch it on TV not on my phone.  I'm going to be getting the idea into my wife's mind about attending next year though.  She is a Sioux fan so it probably won't be to much work to get that going.

  2. This weeks sweep tells me a lot about this years team.  I saw a team that came out to prove a point in game one and then came out to reiterate that point in game two.  I like that they didn't let up in game one at all.  Then in game 2 I really like that they responded to the 1st goal and said, here is 3, now what else to you have?  I can see this years team making a deep run.  Oh and btw, Minnemosa's all around after that Siouxeep.

If you read the Poolman article he says all the right things. This is what I would like to hear out of Berry's mouth about the last two years. Berry would reassure a lot of people if he would say the things Colton said.

I think we’ve got to start small, because we haven’t performed these last two years,” Poolman said. “We haven’t met a whole lot of goals. It starts with building The Ralph back to what it was. We have to start winning more home games first and foremost, and turning that place into a place that’s feared to play in. That’s goal No. 1.

“Then, we have to try to get into that top half in the regular season of play -- be a better regular-season team. Those are a couple of goals we can wrap our heads around. We need to start there before we can go any farther.”

I'm going to go out on a limb here and make an observation about this post.  As captain of the team, does anyone else realize that Berry talks with him.  I would have to say that these quotes are from a conversation that Berry had with Poolman.  I have heard Berry and other players say these same things in various interviews throughout the year.  Now with Poolman saying them in this interview, he is setting the bar for next years team.  He is sending a message from the coach to the players coming in and returning next year.

I would argue that the Poolman family is the current family of UND hockey, like the Lamoureaux family used to be.  I would also argue that Colton knows that next years team isn't going to put up with the stupid penalties that this years team was plagues by.  Reason being, the benching of the "A" during the 3rd period of the 2nd to last regular season game.  It is the captain that enforces this behind the scenes.

I expect there to be a lot of changes next year and those changes start now.  Colton is making sure the bar is higher and is done now.

i was pleased to see while I was away that my Sunday morning mimosas remained in the community lexicon!

I did modify it a bit by just giving fruit juice if they got a split.  So with them getting a single point out of the weekend, each player received an orange slice.  We don't want them to think that they are going to quench a thirst by not winning.  You will have to let us know is this is acceptable?

  5. Looks like the boys are going for the fruit juice again tonight.  They don't get the Mimosa.  It does suck that there were 2 players in the stands last night who would have been a Sr and Jr. respectively.  That is just part of being such a respected program.  This team is just bitten with not having anyone who can finish consistently.

IMO its the cost of a ticket that keeps me on my couch watching on TV.  Playoff games are cheaper than regular season games.  I have a family of 3 and we can easily drop $200 just for tickets and gas.  Not to mention my wife and daughters frequent visits to the concession stands every other icing call.

I think you hit on the most important part of filling the stadium.  No one wants to go watch a team that is not putting the effort in.  In saying this, I have a feeling the second half of this season is going to be one that is going to be great.  The team is finally healthy and hopefully Brad can get out of his own way on the bench.  IMO, this stadium is going to be full in the next few series.

So if Denver, UMD, St Cloud State, and North Dakota were all in the NCHC Frozen Face-Off at the Xcel Energy Center, it wouldn't be quite the same because the jersey patches say NCHC on them instead of WCHA?  There were several years of no Gophers at the Final Five and the tournament didn't miss a beat.

The one thing that I am not seeing at the NCHC that I saw at the X is all the fans from other teams showing up.  I remember seeing fans from all the other schools there because of the tradition of the Final Five.  Yes I think I saw 2 fans from SC and a smattering of UMN fans at the TC, but nothing like it was at the X.  That will not come back for a while no matter where the tourney is.

bet the  name that filed it will be Brandtly Schlossbergermann...

he definitely has a love affair with the women's team.  He doesn't cover the story unbiased by any means.  I am losing respect for him as he keeps going on and on about it,  I get a feeling that he is the lost Lamey kid that couldn't play hockey.

Might be a little bump if it goes back to the X, I just assume the NCHC is going to stick with the Target Center bc of all the updates they're doing and cheaper rent.

I think the writing is on the wall for the TC hosting the NCHC frozen faceoff.  The 2021 NCAA basketball regional will be at the TC, which is always the same weekend as the FF.  Look for some good news about moving back to the X in the near future.

    They're grasping at something.

I don't see what their claim is in their reply to Kennedy's letter. It's hard to support/agree with someone when the thing they are upset about isn't there. I'd like to hear their plain on how to fund the women's hockey team.

They have some free time and $70.000 each now, this feels like there will be more coming.

I actually asked her on twitter where the word boutique was in the letter?  Lets see if she replies?
