  1. The Alumni Association usually distributes them to regional Sioux Alumni gatherings, you might contact them.
  2. "Sioux Fan", from earlier in the thread, usually organizes the alumni events in Colorado Springs and sometimes Denver, I talked to her last night and there's nothing official from the Alumni assoc going on, the lead time to get things rolling for AA support is like 3 months. So, if you are a Sioux fan in COS on Friday, go to Carrabbas. We'll all be there in green and white. As far as other bars/restaurants around the World Arena area, there is a Chili's very close by and up the road a little is a Red Robin, Chipotle, On the Border, Panera Bread, etc. PS If you want to try some good tex-mex while you are here, go to The Loop (Manitou Springs) or Amanda's Fonda. Shopping for Touristy items? Old Colorado City, Manitou Springs, Garden of the Gods Trading Post. Just want to get some fresh air, or take a mountain drive? Hit Garden of the Gods, or drive up to Cripple Creek for a little gambling. Need more to do, just ask.
  3. There are a large number of UND supporters getting together at Carrabba's on Friday starting about 4 PM, you can walk from Carrabba's to the World Arena, if you so choose. I know quite a few CC fans who are going to the regionals, and they pretty much detest DU, so they will be rooting for us this weekend, at least a few of them, and they too will be at Carrabbas on Fri/Sat. Note the place doesn't open until 3PM. Full bar, good food and apps. I too live near COS and work in town, if any Sioux fans coming down need anything at all, post here or e-mail me through my profile address. PS - I don't think there will be any tailgating allowed in the WA parking lot. PPS - If you are coming down and it's your first trip to COS, make sure you go to the city's Garden of the Gods park (free) on Saturday and take advantage of the nice weather we've been having. Garden of the Gods
  4. 92 - 93 sounds about right for Akil, there was a Native American not too long ago either, I think his last name was Bear..

    Old arena

Al didn't invent it, though he did create it, or help to, by backing the funding for ARPAnet when he was in the legislature..have to stick up for Al a little...he was misquoted by the Repub's policital machine... Anyway, thanks all of you for bringing back some great memories, I went to my first Sioux game in the early 80's, watching Dougey Smail skate like the wind, and then through the lean years of the 90's, near the end of Gino's reign, and will never forget that place-ever, Since leaving GF in '95 it's the one thing I truly miss about the town. I hope to make it to some home games each year, just to be part of the tradition of Sioux Hockey..
  6. I used to have a t-shirt that stated: "Welcome to North Dakota, set your watch back 20 years..." I still find it to be true, though not necessarily derogatory depending upon your view of the state of the world outside of ND...
  7. I don't mind the solitude of Nodak, it's the damn cold, the musketoes, the long winter, the LOOONG, dark, bitter cold winter, the short, hot, muggy summer...
  8. Alas, some of us live outside of civilization...hell, I have to have satellite for my internet access...
  9. Siouxfan, I also live in Colorado, near Colsprings, who is doing your install? ~danke!
  10. I too was surprised at how Denver seemed to "give up" both nights, no energy left, they were spent, emotionally and physically, while the Sioux were able to keep the pace, not to mention picking it up at times. Good conditioning in the off season? The altitude didn't seem to make any diff from my perspective. It's always nice to see the Sioux play here in CO, and after last year, 'twas great to have them sweep DU, there were some damn happy people (and quite a few unhappy DU fans) at Magness both nights.
  11. Campus Lounge is not within walking distance, but it's still close, we could shoot for Spanky's: 1800 E Evans Ave Denver, CO 80210 Main Phone: 303-733-6886 If you want to plan on meeting there, I can get there by 5:30-6:00 and swill down a couple with you. e-mail me at cyberbum@earthlink.net if you want to swap info and try to hook up tomorrow. We were at teh DU games last year, and go to CC when the Sioux are in town, probably have seen you. Yeah, I've lived in Divide for ~8 years now and love the solitude, though I drive down to the Springs for work almost daily, it's worth the 40 minute drive to have some acreage, peace and quiet. The only traffic I get by my house is the sanitation truck once a week, and the occasional UPS delivery.. If there are more Sioux fans up here, I MUST have a goofer roast for the upcoming game at marahoochie, I have enough room for 20 or so, with a big screen, keep it in mind.
  12. Anyone getting together for a little pre-game on Friday in Denver? I won't have time for the alumni get-together at Dave and Buster's on Sat, but will haul my butt up to Denver as fast as I can on Friday. Campus Lounge maybe?
  13. keep Jake in goal for the duration, I think we found our goalie. thanks for all the updates guys!
  14. Put THAT in your cupcake tin and smoke it!
  15. tangent followup all Sioux players are welcome to come stay at my place west of Col Springs, 9200 ft elevation, and run trails/work out prior to any Colorado series...takes about 3 days to get used to the elevation. Though it might get a little crowded if they ALL show up... Go Sioux!
