That's interesting. I would guess probably 95%+ of people think the other way, they could live with a new name but a new location could lean them toward a different team. So if the nickname does indeed change when this thing finally settles are you really going to quit being a fan of UND sports?

Spot on. Fridays game is a monster for us, with the altitude and our tendency to be a little sluggish on Saturdays lately I would hate to have to count on a win Saturday to get a split.

I know Lakes was banned from a number of Big Sky teams fansites right around the time UND was accepted because of his lunatic ranting, but like you said...get a new name, start again. I think darell might be right after looking at this again, it does look like JBB propaganda.

I guess it is possible that it is actually Lakes, he might have been banned and picked a name close to a known Cat instigator (cats2506) hoping nobody would notice. That wouldn't surprise me.

Absolutely, I would take that bracket in a heartbeat.

One thing I think we can all agree on regardless of where you stand on the nickname issue is that the NCAA has done a horrible job of implementing this policy, tweaking it as they went to favor certain schools (whether they admit it or not), and setting different standards for every school based on...and this is my opinion only...the profitability of each school to the NCAA.

Battling our way into the tournament is more than likely going to reward us with a 4 seed, meaning facing a killer in the first round. But if we could beat them, Tampa would actually be reachable.

Of course that's the way it is, the media is all about the big story...and the big story almost always focuses on bad news. In this instance the big story is the NCAA's imminent crackdown on UND for not bowing down to the rules set forth in the settlement, how it got to that point, and what it will mean for the university. That SL is filing a lawsuit to try to retain the name will be a one-liner somewhere in the drivel, if mentioned at all. It doesn't have the eyecatching appeal that the media wants, so to them it doesn't matter that much. Sad but true.
