  1. Just wondering if there is a place in town where most Sioux fans gather to watch the games???

BWW South is always packed and it will be better now that NCAAs are wrapping up. Bulldog Tap is a good alternative on the southwest side. Tailgators is a fun old-school place too.

  2. I was in Milwaukee for 1997 and I will be in St. Paul this year, if trend continues we'll hang a six spot on Michigan and beat Notre Dame for the title. does this also mean the Bulls will win the NBA title as well this year?

You could go on all day...and Kentucky lost the 1997 National title game in college basketball....

  3. New Hampshire has a good chance to beat Miami....I just hope they can score at the pace Miami does. Notre Dame's goaltending is suspect. Whoever makes it out of the Northeast will have a tough time in St. Paul. Miami is due for an early exit one of these years.

(Now I sit back and watch someone copy this post into a forum on April 10th after somebody like Merrimack wins it all).

    UM-DULUTH

    NOTRE DAME (luke-warm pick)

    NORTH DAKOTA

    NEBRASKA-OMAHA

  4. That video with the Western Michigan players put a tear in my eye. Makes you step back and realize that when push comes to shove its just a game. And the sun will come up if the Sioux win or lose.

It may be a little cloudy on Monday though if they don't get to St. Paul....

Awesome video. Hard not to get choked up, especially if you are a parent and just want the best for your kids. The shot at 4:20 into the video says it all. Pretty impressive that a group of guys would come together and make a huge difference for this family.

  5. As a traditionalist, I really hope we maintain conference affiliation with the long-time rivals we have left. Denver, CC, and hopefully Michigan Tech will remain. The team from HOughton is down currently (and have been for a while) but the Sioux have a long-standing affiliation with them.

If Michigan Tech were to jump and go with other schools like Lake Superior State, Western Michigan, and others of the CCHA ilk, I would be bummed. For what it's worth, the MacNaughton Cup might go with them because that may not necessarily beong wo the WCHA, but to the conference that Michigan Tech (the overseer of the Cup) is a current member of.

  6. I don't think many people like the idea of the possibility of playing DU again, but Saturday was a rough game. Not to mention the five penalties that the Sioux received in the second period alone. Hextall's "cross-checking" penalty was questioned by nearly everyone. I've heard that even the media thought the DU player was going to get a penalty for diving. I know DU got away with some cheap calls and the Sioux had to battle through that.

If, and I'm not trying to think ahead two games (DU still has to get through Western Michigan as well), the Sioux play the Pios again the Sioux have to stay out of the box and they'll have to bring their 'A' game. DU is a good team, but they haven't seen the best of us.

I think with some different bounces (anyone of Dell's great saves getting past him), the Sioux could have lost on Saturday. Friday's game was a war and that could have gone either way too. Truth be told, I'm thrilled that they were challenged in St. Paul after three weekends of playing some of the lower tiered teams in the WCHA (no offense to Bemidji St.). And they survived!

I've heard a lot of people on this board lamenting the fact that UND has something to prove (with BC, loss to Yale, etc). I certainly agree, but let's not forget Denver was the #1 seed last year and got bounced by RIT so they also have some unfinished business of their own.

If it's UND-Denver again this weekend I will be up all night on Saturday....the anticipation for that game will leave me nauseous. Very very, excited, hopeful, and confident, but nauseous.

  7. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:RPI_Puckman_logo.png

AZ Sioux, I was hoping for this logo as you drew up the "weekly matchup" page.

I don't care who you are...you gotta have some love for the Puckman logo! This is what we're dealing with as the Sioux take on the Engineers. From Wikipedia:

"The official hockey mascot known as The Puckman has always been very popular. The Puckman is an anthropomorphic hockey puck with an engineer's helmet."

During the 1970s and 80s, one RPI cheer was:

    E to the x, dy/dx, E to the x, dx

    Cosine, secant, tangent, sine

    3.14159

Square root, cube root, log of pi

    Disintegrate them, RPI!

  8. 1030 CDT. ESPN2

Lots of highlights from the siouxs victory last nite and hear they are interviewing frattin on national TV.

Also they will release the brackets.

Over under on bob norton picking boston to win it???

Last year it was the Ben Scrivens Tribute Show, hosted by Barry Melrose. I'm interested to see what the talking heads say this year (like it matters).

  9. Assuming Air Force wins its conference tournament tonight, any chance that they may face UND in the 1st round?

Or is that pretty much a no since Yale has locked up #1 overall?

Sure would be neat to see Lamoureux brothers go head to head.

  10. Where is everyone in Fargo gathering to watch the championship game?

I'd be interested in this as well. Not for tonight (house party with friends)....but next weekend would be very fun to go out to catch a game.

  11. Caught a glimpse - just noticed the little one's marooon sparkly knit hat head nestled up against Dean's side... cute!

Nice intermission interview with Dean - congrats on being chosen again to coach USA Juniors team!

Also nice to see the interview with Gino Gasparini in the 1st period. Talking Sioux Legacy.

  12. I watched a division 3 game between Robert Morris and Illinois State on a local channel here in Chicago and they had the penalty time. How sad that the #1 team in division 1 can't provide the same.

This has been a complaint for a while but I have gotten over it. I feel Sweeney does a good job of often saying how much time is left during the PP.

  13. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/196203/

So maybe I'm the only one thinking about this but.....how is that all going to play out? Hakstol is stated all along that his "stance on the logo issue is clear" and left it at that.... but this is taking it to the next level.

To be at the vortex of a public campaign (a campaign that your employer is against) is certainly interesting. I know that he, Roebuck, and some other coaches talked about their disappointment when the SBOHE first announced the decision.

Anyone else feel there could be some reprimanding from the University as a result?

  14. My only question I have is which jersey to where each night?

Gonna go with the current reebok edge home Friday but Saturday..........might have to go nostalgic........only question is how nostalgic, Nike dazzle? 82?

Gonna be tough not to go with the '87

Gotta bust out the Old School. Either 82 or 87 will be sweet. I'll have the 87 away jersey on in style. Hrkac Circus lives!

"Ian Kidd wants to go to Detroit tooooo!"
