  1. One of these games will be closer than it should be.

Sioux sweep....6-1 Friday and 4-2 Saturday.

Last homestand of the '10-'11 season...really looking forward to one last weekend at the Ralph!

I agree with the one close game but I bet it will be Friday. 3-1 win on Friday to break their spirits and Saturday will be more of a coronation than a competition; something like a 5-0 shutout. Then our cup runneth over :) At least that's what I hope to see on Saturday when I'm there with 12,000 of my friends.

  2. Just now, I tried letting ticketmaster choose my sets for me.

When I requested 2 sets of tickets, Ticketmaster was placing me in the upper rows of 307.

When I requested 3 sets of tickets, I was able to get section 310, Row A. What the ????

None of the student section appears available if you select to choose your own seats, but 307 and 310 are available if ticketmaster searches for you.

Ticketmaster is a screwed up system, wish we did not have to use it.

When I talked to the Ralph this morning they were aware of the issue. They said that Season Ticket holders have until April to purchase tickets and if they pass, they will be made available as single game tickets (rather than the package). I doubt there will be a high percentage of season ticket holders letting this series pass them by.

  3. Is the Cup in the building?

Per Brad's blog earlier in the week (and in yesterday's Herald) the Cup will not be presented this weekend but rather during the WCHA Playoffs....likely Saturday the 12th or Sunday the 13th after the Sioux wrap up the 1st round series (similar to how they did it 2009).

  4. Mathematically speaking, the Sioux can clinch the #1 seed on Sunday and at least a share of the MacNaughton Cup. A sweep plus help (Denver/Omaha split and Duluth needs less than 4) gets this done.

On the Sioux live blog today Brad was checking with Bruce McLeod whether or not the Sioux would be presented with the cup if all the pieces fall into place.

  5. How are tie-breakers determined?

That's my question too. I believe there would be a "shared conference champion" like they did with Big 10 Football this year. But the question is, who would get the #1 seed (and the luxury of playing Michigan Tech in the 1st round). Who gets the MacNaughton Cup at season's end?

I think this has happened before. Denver and CC tied and it might have been 1997 (? forgive me if I'm wrong here) when the Sioux and Gophers were co-champs.

Might be a good question for Brad Schlossman.

  6. Bavarian Almonds mixed wth chopped onions from the hot dog condiment row. That's the smell I get. I laughed out loud at the person who went home and took a big whiff from the gift shop bag.

I know the smell....unique to this arena and this arena only. I wish the sold an Air Freshener with the smell. A little foam tree hanging from my steering wheel that smells like The Ralph.

  7. Upon further review, BC's good fortunes with home ice in the NCAA tournament is disgusting. (Most likely due to the fact that I am bitter towards BC (as are most of you) because they seem to break my heart every year)

    2010: Worcester

    2008: Worcester

    2007: Manchester

    2006: Worcester

    2005: Worcester

    2004: Manchester

Enough of my BC complaining, what are everyone's (incredibly pre-mature) thoughts on the potential bracket?

I can't disagree. Keep in mind though that some site in New England is going to host a regional every year and it only makes sense (geographically and economically) that the best team in the area would get the top seed there. BU was tops in 2009 and I'm going to bet without looking back that they had a nice regional slant going for them too. I don't know if it's favoring BC as much as its favoring a college hockey crazed city with the largest popluation.

I remember being in Madison in 1999 when BC beat the Sioux. That was a bummer. You could argue that 1999 team was every bit as talented as the 2000 group that got their revenge the following spring.

Looking into the crystal ball I also see UNO and UND having some battles this spring. Whether its in the Final Five or in Regionals I think we'll be meeting again. I think they'll have a good run at the Final Five. I think Duluth's senior leadership will also play a role in the postseason. I predict a couple of WCHA teams playing at the Frozen Four in St. Paul.

  8. By the way, there's a big ticket mess going on now on Ticketmaster. If you go out there currently it shows EVERY SEAT at The Ralph is available for purchase. I called the REA Box Office and they were just made aware of the problem and they are working on fixing it.

Just wanted to bring some folks back down to earth in case they are thinking they can purchase front row, center ice tickets.

  9. This series will be the last chance that many very very good to great Sioux fans will have to see the Fighting Sioux play. Ever.

They will not see them at the Final Five. They will not see them at the West Regional. They will not see them at the Frozen Four.

They would love to do all, but their stations in life may not allow them that luxury. Therefore, they will go to the first round of the WCHA Playoffs.

Next year, they, and us all, can see North Dakota, but not the Fighting Sioux, play hockey again.

Sad. But most likely, absent a miracle, true. No more Fighting Sioux.

Buy right away. It's a no brainer in my book.

You are 100% correct on this one. Barring an 11th hour crazy idea to go to the Frozen Four this is probably the last chance I will get to see the Sioux in action. Life-long Sioux fans will be taking their kids, their parents, grandparents, etc., because this is it.

  10. I love the feature where we can go in and browse ticket sales to find seats. I myself have attended a half dozen games by utilizing this terrific site. I do have one suggestion to make the process more user-friendly. I'm not sure if the administration team or someone could be a keeper of this but could we delete or eliminate the posts that are "dead". For example, when someone sells their tickets or found their tickets, can that subject line be removed? Can we also remove ticket posts for games that are in the past? It seems that some of these "dead dates" can clog up the page and make it tougher to search for what is still for sale and what is not.

I know we're dealing with a small time hobby here so I can completely understand if this is a matter of manpower, just a suggestion. Thanks!

  11. Here's my take on the whole deal. I agree with the previous poster 100% because I am also an NDSU Football Fan that cannot state with a straight face that Bison Football is on par with Sioux Hockey.

I also grew up in the western side of the state, when hockey was on par with Croquet in terms of popularity. I understand this is not a "hockey state" but the reason why is because of exposure. We had no Sioux games on local TV. We had our fill of Bison-Sioux FB games, Bison playoff games, and High School Basketball. I remember watching UND on PBS or ESPN when they were playing for the National Title, and that's about it.

Fast forward to the present day. The FSSN has taken this program to the next level, IMO. Friday and Saturday nights during the winter is absolute primetime in North Dakota. With the tradition and the product and the fact that it is exposed to people statewide (especially youth), this has the potential to be huge when we're talking about the next generation.

  12. Grafton has indeed been rolling. A matchup tomorrow to look for is Fargo South at Grafton. Talk about two teams going in seperate directions. Central at North on Saturday could also have a big say in the final regular season standings.

Bottineau at Century is very big too out west. Could determine the #1 seed.

  13. My son's squirt team wants to go to the Saturday UND/BSU game, so I'm looking for a total of 12 lower bowl tickets. I know I won't find 12 seats together, so I'm looking for blocks of two, three, or four, etc.

    Please PM. Thanks!!!!

Today (30 days out from the game) Ticketmaster opened up a section of General Admission tickets. They are upper deck and first come first serve (amongst the students) but it might be your best bet to get 13 together.

    Good luck!

  14. There is a site through Ticketmaster for UND season ticket holders to sell their seats. It is nice, because you just print the tickets off, there is no exchange. They are guaranteed by Ticketmaster also, so you don't have to worry about fakes.

Anyway, some people gouge, some are right around face value, I have bought on the site recently, here is the link: Sioux Ticket Exchange

Thanks for the link. Prices might seem steep for some but when you don't have the hassle and expense of mailing tickets or tracking down the seller, it's a nice alternative!
