  1. I wish the REA would address this. I was told by some management that they were working on something, but that was the middle of last year and haven't heard since.

Yes... they have a different frequency for inside the arena. Listen to Hennessey's pregame, and he'll mention it a few times. He did last year anyway...

  2. Have 2 big old boards, one for each section, that has every seat on it. It's that simple. It doesn't have to be fancy or pretty or anything. It could be about a $20 project. That's it.

The fighting sioux club already has these things made up from when we chose our season seats. It certainly wouldn't take much effort from them to do this for you.

If anyone was wondering about row and seat numbering:

In the lower bowl, the rows go "up" alphabetically. IE first row is "A", second is "B", etc.

As far as numbering, in Section 107 the seat numbers start at the south isle (1) and increase to the north (24).

I can't guarantee that its the same way for Sections 108 & 109, but it stands to reason that it would be the case.

  3. It would appear that this team is far more talented than one would expect from a team coming off a 1-10 season, including a couple of wide receivers good enough to have been signed by Miami and Clemson:

Definitely... Our secondary better have their heads up and their running shoes on.

Hopefully their QB won't have time to hit his fast receivers! :D

  4. Bochenski/Parise/Murray

While this would be one helluva scoring line, I'd like to see it split up a bit. To me it seems like we'd be putting all of our eggs in one basket so to speak. I think by splitting Bochenski away from the first line, that would give us two very capable scoring lines. (or at least something to keep the opponents' checking lines very busy and tired) And keep $$$ & Quinn on the same line. They complemented each other nicely last season while they were together.

    1) Parise Murray Prpich (Stafford?)

    2) Bochenski Lundbohm Fylling (Stafford?)

    3) Hale McMahon Massen (Stafford?)

    4) Who came ready to play?

  5. I can't speak for 'diggler', but I consider it a shutout too. Certainly, the choice to take the safety was the correct one. But since the 2 points were given away, I call it somewhere in the lines of a "moral victory." ;)

Is there such a thing as a "moral shutout?":D

  6. the corners will need to play far better against a good passing team like St. Cloud.  There were a few occasions where the receivers were pretty open, even though it rarely resulted in a completion of any significance.

Absolutely. Any offense that UMC registered seemed like it was through the air. And wow... were there people open all over the place. A little talent in the arm & hands department would have made us look silly. LOTS of room for improvement, IMO. :glare:

  7. Maybe it's not "happiness", but the crowd singing the national anthem after Ralph died was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen or heard. The feeling was undescribable, and certainly unforgettable. For those who weren't there, I'm sorry I can't put the feeling in the arena that night into words. It will without question always be one of my best memories of Sioux hockey.

  8. Football is the only sport that splits D-I.

So it is correct that for a women's basketball championship, we would have to compete against the likes of U-Conn, Tennessee, and so on? That certainly would change recruiting practices around here. I think it'd be a shame to not have our local talent playing for the Bison or Sioux.

  9. I have been following NDSU's search for a D-IAA football conference, but what about other sports such as women's basketball? Is it true that there is no IAA, just D-I? I've been told this by a few people, but haven't been able to find information about it to confirm or deny. Anyway, if this is the case, is it even possible for NDSU (or us in the future) to compete on such a level? :) Someone please advise me on this...

  10. Since our friends at bisonville.com are having a little fun with pictures of our AD & president... :)

I thought I'd post a snapshot of Gene Taylor & Craig Bohl in front of NDSU's "Old Main" building. :)

Thanks for hosting the pic, admin! :)

  11. As much as I hate to admit it, I think NDSU will have a strong team this year. Their fans have to like what they're seeing with the new staff. A little house cleaning and some fresh attitudes will go a long way for them this year, IMO.

It looks like October 18 will prove to be another great battle for the nickle! ;)

  12. I thought the Forwards did a good job on the PP, but the Defense was weak. From the point, 75% of the shots taken were blocked. They need to rip those right away, no delaying. Also, it seemed like the D had trouble moving the puck up through the neutral zone at times.

    My thoughts EXACTLY! ;)

  13. I believe that the architect slated to be at today's press conference was former Sioux football player Mike Kuntz. I also believe he worked for Shoen and Associates when the "new" REA was built. If anyone knows, chime in.

Yes, Mike was with Schoen when REA was constructed. Anyway, for unknown reasons, there was an employee exodus from Schoen Assoc. after the REA was completed, (rumor says a conflict with promised $$ after REA completion) and Mike and others started Icon Architecture.

Through the construction of the "little Ralph" in TRF, I'm aware that things at Schoen have, well, "slipped a little." Therefore, IMO, they went with the experience of that original core group, and said ciao to Jim K. and his current staff. I wish Mike and his staff well, they're a good group to work with.

  14. One thing that has stirred the pot a bit is the "home court issue." If what I heard is not correct, please disregard...

Is it true that when the hockey team is on the road, the teams will play in the main arena? How then can you build a sense of home court if you aren't even in the same building for all of your games? It's reasons like these that prompted Gene R. to publicly say that he didn't like playing in the REA, (although last years NDSU win might have changed his thoughts a bit...) and I don't blame him. It's like being on the road at home.

On another note... is this building going up to the north of the REA? (you know... the field where people park for hockey games?)
