The dry heat must be taking a toll on you this weeked, Oxbow6. C'mon...Yale is the home of the country's oldest inter-collegiate ice hockey team with roots dating back to 1893 and has over 2,000 wins in program history. They may lack NCAA titles, but Yale does NOT lack tradition.
UND a #4 seed that squeaked into the tournament. It's an upset. Goal-scoring pretty evenly distributed amongst the team. Draft status doesn't win tournament games.
...that's the exact same number of NCAA playoff teams that vaunted Union College played against this season...1-0-1 against St Cloud and 1-1-1 against Colgate.
...and boy did they dodge a bullet on that flop in front of Motte late in today's game. What should have been 2:00 in the box for diving and a chance for Colgate to tie the game instead resulted in a 2:00 Bulldog power play.
4-0 baby! I'd like to claim that I'm some sort of hockey Rasputin, but, alas, I'm tied with 39 others!
Nonetheless...it's Minnesota, Notre Dame, UMass-Lowell, and Boston College winning tomorrow...
The tournament wins in 1997 and 2010-2012 (amongst others as well, but those in particular) were some of the most memorable moments of my Sioux fan 'career.' Would be nice to see banners for each of them as they were all special.
I suppose because the regular season is more of a showing of season-long excellence while the tournament (excluding the first-round) is a one-weekend event. That being said, if it were up to me, UND would be hoisting individual banners for playoff titles too.
Take a look around REA...there are banners for each MacNaughton Cup team...there is ONE banner for all of the Broadmoor Trophy teams.
I agree...one down today, one to go tomorrow. Then two more in Philadelphia.

The Big Ten champions of 2013-2014 are the Minnesota Gophers. The Big Ten tournament champions of 2014 are the Wisconsin Badgers.
I watched PC play badly last weekend in the HE playoffs...I had a hunch Gillies would play better today and that PC would be fired up for its NCAA tournament game.
