Only 6 championships in 31 years? What's the problem there at Central? (I kid, I kid)

Yuk yuk yuk. You two are a riot. Rick Astley is not on my iPod. However, Paul Hardcastle's "19" and Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus" were recent additions.

Because she's a strong outspoken gay woman and gfhockey wants more diversity in the coaching ranks?

Technically not correct. St Cloud State was the top seed, but was eliminated by Miami in the first round. North Dakota was the highest remaining seed.

I thought it was Finnish myself...

Didn't overcome those losses? That was an unbelievable accomplishment just getting to the title game. DU played outstanding and UND took a couple of bad penalties late in the game that made a 2-1 score look much worse as a 4-1 final.

That's important information - thank you for posting it. Regardless of its content, the sign certainly appeared to violate several conditions.

About damn time. Slap Shot organization from top to bottom. So glad that Claude Lemieux's kid didn't come to UND.

Fixed your post to reflect a more accurate statement.

And risk the possibility of TWO drunk zamboni drivers inside Fargo rinks? No way!

Please welcome the University of North Dakota NoDaks? The University of North Dakota NoDak Nation? Please, Fetch, just give me the cyanide pill now.

Once brought that up with an anti-nickname poster somewhere - mentioned Notre Dame's logo and was told it could not in any way, shape, or form be considered racist because the leprechaun is a fictional character. I said I would adopt that same exact logo as UND's logo but give him a tan and was promptly told, "but that's racist!" You can't make that kind of logic up.

I'm having problems with this issue again

That would be the HOME white sweater if all was right in the world...

The NHL should have fined him 15 minutes after his first game as head coach ended - the one against Anaheim where he almost broke the bench divider while frothing at the mouth trying to get at Bruce Boudreau. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y2OOc6WTrg

Sent you a PM.

I think I counted at least five different threads (one involving MN/MSU, another involving the WIld/Avalanche, can't remember the others) where some sort of fracas was met with a snarky comment about North Dakota and its present/former players and/or head coach. Funny, though, absolutely nobody responded to me calling out Boyd for throwing himself into the boards behind the net following a slight push by an MSU player, which resulted in Seth Ambroz wanting to tear a Spartan's head off in retaliation. Mission accomplished, though, Boyd, the ref bought it hook, line, and sinker, and called a penalty on MSU. Strike that, one poster did PM me and tell me he did agree that Boyd totally sold that hit. He looked like he had been hit by a Mack truck the way he slammed into the boards. Quite funny - wish I had the video and could post it somewhere. Back on topic, Patrick Roy and Colorado: 20 years of classless hockey dating back to the Claude Lemieux hit on Kris Draper.

And I can't imagine the president of, say, Marquette University, standing up during a basketball game and essentially scolding a fan for yelling "Let's Go Warriors."

90siouxfan, the expression is "he who laughs last, laughs best (or loudest)." I was taking a friendly poke at DaveK by using an old Tommy Boy reference where Chris Farley mangles a joke/sales closing line that his dad used on a customer - "I can get a good look at a T-bone by stickin' my head up a bull's ass, but wouldn't you rather take the butcher's word for it?"

As the team left the ice after winning the 2012 WCHA Final Five, I thought to myself, "remember this game because it's the last time you'll ever see that jersey on the ice." I think it's cool that this year's seniors wore a cap in tribute to the legacy of the Fighting Sioux nickname and logo. They may not wear that crest on their jersey chest anymore, but the NCAA can't pry that iconic image out of those 7 hearts. Well done, seniors. To the students and fans who dared to chant last night and defy a university president who openly voices his disdain at anyone who says "Sioux" around his section, my hats off to you. SIOUX FOREVER!

Seems the players themselves - along with the fans and news media - do a good enough job with the demands/expectations of national championships every year. At one of the Final Fives a few years back (I think it was 2011), the team wouldn't even touch the Broadmoor Trophy after winning the tournament because it wasn't the ultimate prize that the team wanted. I don't know who made that decision, but my view is that MacNaughton Cups and Broadmoor Trophies are part of the journey and deserve to be celebrated as an accomplishment in their own respective rights. As fans, we're all in the same boat. If this team wasn't so damn exciting to watch every year, our disappointment wouldn't be so great when it ends without a national title. If we feel that badly, I can only imagine how bad the players feel. Every season brings expectations and hope. It'll be oh-so-special when one of these years finally goes North Dakota's way. For now, I agree with you again - just worry about next weekend's opponent and go from there.
