2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
fargosioux replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Hypothetical question. If/when the next coaching change happens, would UND ever hire from outside? Up to this point it's always been hiring from within the UND family. But is it time to rethink that strategy? I look at a guy like Eric Lang and what he did to build with a program with extremely little resources. Seems to me a guy like that could potentially do amazing things at a program like UND. -

Some school is going to land a great coach in Eric Lang next season.

Yes, the lounges at both ends have public access. -

I wonder if this guy knows that their last title was 26 years ago, and that 7 of those titles happened 50+ years ago.
-
Not sure how much insider info he has, but Alex Micheletti is pretty much saying Pohlkamp to Denver. Damn! He would have been a great addition to our blueline next year.
-
Have you heard something about Pohlkamp?

Thanks for educating me on how recruiting works! I had no idea before that. So you are on the side of some NCAA tournament wins and no title for over 20 years. Thanks for the clarification.

"all ultimately ended up in disappointment". This is just me but there's no difference whether the disappointment happened in the Frozen Four or earlier. You seem to be putting lots of stock in Frozen Four appearances and NCAA tournament wins. I'm not sure I agree. Personally for me, the barometer is winning national titles. Everything else is secondary. Honest question .. would you rather have your team have won a title 8 years ago with little postseason success since, or be like our friends to the East who have several NCAA tournament wins and some Frozen Four appearances over the past several years, but haven't hung an NCAA banner in over 20 years.

Here's to both of you officially moving on about 5 minutes into the game.

2,500 seats is pretty ridiculous for a college hockey regional, but this arena in Maryland Heights looks very nice. If it wasn't Easter weekend, I'd be tempted to make the trip if we got placed there. The atmosphere would be pretty cool.

No doubt. It always used to be Sunday morning.

Connelly (USCHO) & Schlossman have the same projected brackets. I would agree with these. I think you can almost lock them in. Anybody planning on making the trip to Maryland Heights?

UMass & BU can't play each other in the first round. -

At the time I would have never guessed we would be a 2 seed. I thought it was possible Omaha would get in as a 4 seed, which would have pushed us out of SF. -

If the top seeds win tonight, UMass gets in ahead of CC. If That happens I have this same bracket with UMass replacing CC, and we'd be playing in Springfield. On a side note, I hope @scpa0305didn't head to Vegas with their kid's college fund to make that wager on UND in Sioux Falls. -
Played us like Western Michigan a few weeks ago. The difference is Omaha has guys who can bury the puck. I expect we'll see the same style from anybody we match up with next weekend.

My fear is in this scenario they would keep bracket integrity as much as possible and send UND out East with UMass. Many of the Sioux Falls tickets have already been sold so I doubt they'd be that worried about attendance.
