Oh ya, you missed this...maybe some of this FB program mess falls on Faison's shoulders? Just another thought. Something has to change...the hype of entering the Big Sky won't last beyond this season if UND goes 5-6, which is how I see it shaking out, and nothing changes within the program itself. Remember all the empty seats at the Fargodome prior to Bohl taking over...and Fargo is a 'SU FB town. They don't have hockey. People want to complain that UND is all about hockey...then have someone within the university do something to change that perception. Unfortunately this FB season won't change that perception about hockey. BTW...I do have UND beating the Griz.

Muss unfortunately was judged by Faison on one particular season which was last season...which was a mirage in the total body of his work with a pathetically easy schedule to boot. The jury is in...Muss isn't a HC at this level. The rest of this season will bear that out...as will next season...and the next season.

Never thought he was a good fit as a HC. Still don't. He seems way in over his head at this level. D2 OC...fine. FCS HC...nope. If UND has him thru 2015...5-6 and 6-5 will be the norm. If you think he is doing a decent job this season and has to date as HC you are in the minority. There are very very few fans of Muss in my season ticket holder section...and that's being generous.

It's a terrible call if Muss had no intention of going for it on 4th down...which obviously he didn't. I can see taking a shot on a low %, high reward throw if you are going to back that play up w a 4th down go for it call. Like many have said...as it played out it was a bad call and typical Muss mismanagement.

I remember watching the UND teams of the early to mid 80's. Those teams had some really bad defenses, but all things relative (D2 vs. D1 FCS) this is IMO the worst D I've seen at UND.

He is very conservative in his game management generally speaking. He seems to play the "odds" a great majoroity of the time regardless of the situation. I don't see that changing Saturday or the rest of this season. Too many coaches make decisions based on what should be called as to cover their a## instead of playing to win. Anyone hear the NAU coach post game on this philosophy coming out for the 2nd half??? You'll never here Muss say that or go with that mindset. The 3rd and 1 play that was at best a low percentage play on the deep sideline pattern should have dictated that he would go for it on 4th down? That sequence of 2 plays made zero sense...but like it or not that's Muss.

Another thing that really bothers me is where was Muss when Hanson basically got speared and knocked out of the game. It was a blatant cheap shot but there was no direct emotion from Muss about the hit. I'm not advocating going postal but there was no outward concern or anger with the missed call whatsoever.

Agree...all things being relative the NCC back in the day is the Big Sky of today.

Once Hanson's feet settled down and he didn't quickly throw the check down, I thought he played well. One could tell his leg is still an issue, nonetheless he has to start Saturday. UND will score 30+ again vs. the Griz and as I've said before this program should never ever lose a HOME game when that happens. Unfortunately this D is the worst UND has had since the mid 80's.

When our 1st BS schedule came out, this was the game I, and probably most UND fans, had circled on the schedule. UNd and UM have not played up to expectations, but this is still the Griz making their 1st trip to the Al. Think it will be a good crowd on Saturday. If UND loses though, the SUU crowd will be small.

Totally agree. And on a side note...if he were to spend as much time game coaching as he does screwing around with his headset or running his hand thru his hair on the sideline, maybe games would turn out different. His antics on the sideline are that of a nervous 12 year old girl!

One year and one type of penalty you are citing...his team's are generally undisciplined game in and game out. Today was ridiculous.

I watched our D closely today at the game. I do believe the schemes and calls were as much to blame as they play of the players. Soft coverage w a 10+ yard cushion at this level is nothing more than pitch and catch. We have no true D1 speed on the edges. Yet when guys were in position they tackle like they all have full body casts on. No one on wraps up whatsoever.

The stupid personal foul and dead ball penalties were once again mind numbing. Typical for a Muss coached team tho...extremely undisciplined.

You must be referring to the fact UND played with only 9 on D because we go absolutely no CB play today. Mackey got worked over like no UND corner I've seen in yrs.

Guess our AD is ok with mediocrity too. Muss got extension solely because of last year IMO.

Like someone stated before on this site...mediocrity will drag this program under. And Muss has IMO lead us to believe that is to be tolerated. "Moral victories", "we battled against a great team"... I would rather see us get throttled game and game out and know that change in some form would be coming. Right now this program is treading water...not drowning but not swimming either. Another year of this and what little FB fan base there is will dwindle further. The crowd today for homecoming was pathetic.

Next weeks game vs. Griz was one I had circled on calendar when schedule came out. Will be there but not all that jacked about it now. At least it should be an entertaining game...both defenses really suck.

This program should never ever lose a home game when we score 35 or more points. today was just an embarrassment. Muss needs to make changes to his coaching staff or he needs to be let go.

That would require coaching...

To say Mackey has had a rough game is an understatement!
