If the Sioux are a #4 seed, neither UMN or UW could play at the REA (if they are both still #1 seeds come tourney selection time).
-
That would be a tough regional for the Sioux with 3 very good other teams there. Getting past BC would be hard enough, but then to face the UMN/BSU winner... And I agree, any tourney projection with the Sioux in it is a good tourney prediction in my book. Just get in, then all it takes is four wins!
-
Better throw that one away, looks to have lost its magic touch. I'd love to see another local player on the Sioux as well; Mihulka would probably be a good player for the Sioux after a year in the USHL.
-
You are correct.
-
Is it for sure tape-delayed on Sat? I have it live on Fri as well here, but just show the UW/MSUM game on Sat... Sure hope it is on!
-
If the Sioux can get in as a #4 seed, that would ensure that neither UMN or UW would be at the REA. Which means that either BU or Miami (with the current PWR) would come to the Ralph for the West Regional. Let's hope that the Sioux can take care of business against DU and move up in the rankings!
-
Nice. But even without those 'slightly skewed' bonus rankings, the Sioux move up to 15th w/o bonus, 14th with bonuses. Not all games are over yet though.

Mavs beat SCSU in OT!!!
-
IIRC, don't we have 11 and UMD has 13? Not that that is too much of a difference. Both teams are extremely young.
-
It was 4-4 tie, not 2-2.
-
That's good for you, as they are both beauty goals.
-
The Sioux are fired up! Great to see!!
-
Now we just need Spirko to come to life as well. SOG 9-6 Sioux.
-
I wish I could have seen that goal, TH said it was an AMAZING feed from Toews.
-
Reichmuth and Parise in net.

I just got home. Great to see the Sioux with the shutout victory! As someone already said, one game at a time here. So one win down, 5 to go. Also great to hear the SCSU lost. They needed to cool off a bit; plus their fans were getting obnoxious again. Go for the sweep tomorrow!!

Here are the current PWR 'bubble teams': 11t Ohio State 17 34 14-15-4 .4848 18 .5305 11t Harvard 17 17t 14-9-2 .6000 21 .5265 11t Providence 17 24t 15-11-2 .5714 12 .5409 14 Denver 16 9t 18-10-2 .6333 14 .5346 15 Maine 15 8 19-10-1 .6500 13 .5368 16t St. Cloud State 14 12 17-10-3 .6167 16 .5332 16t North Dakota 14 23 18-13-1 .5781 9 .5434 16t St. Lawrence 14 24t 15-11-2 .5714 15 .5336 Here are the key games this weekend, taken from the latest USCHO bracketology, with the games that will most affect the Sioux's position in the PWR: From what I can see, as Sioux fans we should be hoping for: Notre Dame to lose to Bowling Green. That might lower some of the other CCHA teams if Notre Dame is no longer a TUC. Not sure what to hope for with OSU/FSU. OSU is above the Sioux, FSU is behind. Some OSU losses might put them below the Sioux. Denver to lose to Minnie. UMN has all but wrapped up a #1 seed, and DU is right in front of the Sioux. DU losses could only help the Sioux out more. Maine to lose to BC. Maine is also right in front of the Sioux, so any losses from them would help the Sioux. Harvard to lose. Another team right in front of the Sioux. SLU to lose. They are currently tied with the Sioux, so losses would put them out of the picture. Of course, above all else, we need the Sioux to win against UMD. They can't control these other games, so they need to concentrate on the games that they can control. They need wins, and some help. Thoughts?

They certainly pack the fans in for those club games.

I loved the Jake Brandt skate and dive across the ice right before that pic took place. You could tell that the whole team was so excited. -

I remember the DU/UND first round WCHA playoffs (3rd game) as the best game that I have attended at the new Ralph (and I was at the 4-4 Sioux/CC tie as well, IIRC, they tied both games that weekend 4-4). So much noise once it entered OT, with a trip to the Final Five on the line. And then Nick Fuher unleashed his slapper and sent the place into an uproar. -

That game was crazy. The goal from behind the net by the SCSU dman that went off the SCSU goalies' pads and in with a minute to go, then Roche's tying goal with 11 sec left. Then of course the "goalie interference" controversy behind the GWG by SCSU. Recap -
Disagreed. First off, I don't think that in the modern era of college hockey that any player will come close to duplicating the points that Hrkac put up. Of the list above, I would say that these players have a decent possibility of winning the Hobey in future years: T.J. Oshie (if he stays around until his jr year) Jonathan Toews (same as Oshie) Rastislav Spirko Brian Lee (same as Oshie) Travis Zajac Drew Stafford

I still say that even if they finish in the top 5 in the WCHA, they won't make it to the Final Five. And I agree with PCM, they have some decent teams left to play.
