  1. It's amazing how awful our passing game is.

With the lack of passing montana is able to put 8 or 9 in the box now and stuff our only offense, the running game.

Thank god for hawkins, boyle, and cameron. our best offensive players today

  2. Keys to winning:

    Go for a fake punt.

    Run a reverse.

Pitch the ball during a kick return.

    Run a couple option plays.

Have the ball thrown to your QB like the Vikes and get a penalty cause its Illegal!!

    All done by hardin

  3. I would start Hedrickson at QB if I were Mussman. He did seem to get some fire out of the offense. If UND can hang with them and be close at the end, who knows what could happen. I still say Montana is horribly over rated this year and there is a very real chance of UND upsetting them.

I would start hendrickson as well. I have multiple thoughts as to why hendrickson has been playing WR as opposed to backing up landry this/past years. 1. he's an athlete and they wanted him on the field(konrath, however i believe he is a much better throwing qb). 2. his attitude, I've heard many negative things about his attitude. 3. teammates reaction to him, this relates to #2 but I believe today the players looked like they responded well and he even provided a spark offensively.

I would love if UND "upset" montana, it would be a great step into the BSC. Do I think there is much hope of this happening? not really.

I was taking a look at the season statistics today after the game and the one thing that SHOCKS me is the lack of productivity at the WR position. Of our top 5 leading receivers only 3 of them are WR( it was only 2 prior to today), hardin, dressler, and mcgill. With dressler being hurt I would start hardin and mcgill from this point on. Let's build some chemistry and build experience. Get them the ball in a variety of ways, receptions, rushes, reverses, "wildcat". I've mentioned this before but why hasn't anderson showed up yet? If he doesn't do anything in these next couple of games and still receives hype next year i'm going to wonder what the writers/coaches are smoking. I've thought our OL has actually played decent this year, they started shaky but I believe they have gelled nicely.

Defensivly hendrickson is a beast. We NEED him to be successful. I thought Goodman is starting to look better. He will be a good MLB. Let's get as much PT out of our young OLB's as possible, bennett and anderson have looked a lot better the past couple weeks. let's use them. I like the way our DL has played this year. Hopefully they can keep it up and we have young guys ready to step in. Boyle and belmore are beasts, gonna be sad to see them go. Devin benjamin is a strong young man and hopefully will provide a solid "rock" in the middle for the next few years, however we are going to have to find a pass rusher opposite brennamen next year. I like our young secondary but something has to change. We've given up way to many easy big plays and still consistently give up the short pass. Perhaps a new philosophy is in order(coaching change). Does anybody have any insight as to why watkins hasn't played much lately? I thought I even remember hearing he was back on scout team?

Just my two thoughts after a difficult season. Let's win these last two and it will add a bit of enthusiasm for the team, and hopefully a pathetic student following this year.

  4. Just got back from the game. Obviously a very disappointing performance as I really thought coming in that this was a very winnable game.

Offensively, it really hurts that we simply don't have a very good passing game, although at least Hendrickson made a couple of very good throws. Goska seems to have more poise and possibly makes better decisions, but Hendrickson seems to have so much more upside with his speed and arm. I guess you play them both the next two weeks and see who moves the team better. I strongly suspect that unless somebody really emerges, we'll see a transfer brought in to compete for the starting job next year.

Defensively, there just seem to be too many breakdowns in coverage. Far too often the receiver is 10 yards behind the corner. At some point somebody needs to be held accountable for this glaring problem.

About the only area where I feel we're definitely on the right track is special teams. Coverage was good, and there were several good returns. Kotelnicki seems to be doing a good job.

Secondary has been our biggest weakness defensively for the past 6 or 7 years. I don't think we need a head coaching change but I do think some position changes need to happen. If I was consistently the weakest link at my place of employement I wouldn't be employed for very long.

  5. Start of the 4th quarter. 28-16 UC Davis.

Still in the game. Hendrickson provides some spark, makes a pivotal mistake deep to give up a TD.

Let's go sioux, send the name out on a high note!

  6. fumble between hendrickson and sutton. Hendrickson just appeared to miss the spot on the handoff.

ball goes into the endzone and davis recovers. TD UC davis.

  7. Defense holds. Nice play by damon andrews on a pass break up.

Block in the back on the punt. Murray appears to be favoring hamstring again. Not good.

  8. Nice return by RJ mcgill.

takes it back to opposing 40! good to see some explosion outta the young guy. just didn't have the breakaway speed to pull away.

    Hendrickson still in.

  9. apparently mussman doesn't have the score card that tells you to go for two there.

Unless he thinks hendrickson can take us on another couple drives.

Long TD for davis called back for a penalty.

  10. Miller with a nice carry.

Good to see that we are using our young guys more and more. As much as I hate to say it but at this point in the season it's time to get those players, offensively and defensively as much PT as possible.

  11. this is behind but another interception for chris hall. Hopefully with their talent, and a new secondary coach next year(we need one) they will be very good!

Goska has missed a couple open receivers, but has had a lot of drops by receivers as well.

Without better QB play, the rest of this season, and next season are going to be HARD to take. I think we start looking at hendrickson at QB. Is probably almost as good a runner as goska but has a MUCH better arm.

  12. Hardin is wearing jersey #8 to honor dressler who isn't playing

Davis is wearing jersey # 6 to honor landry who isn't playing.

    Classy move.

Poly is running all over our D right now.

  13. I know most people have been raving about davis speech at the luncheon but did any of you hear landry's interview on the pregame radio broadcast?

It was also very good. He talked about how much it meant to him to be a sioux, for this community and university. How it had given him so much that he was going to give it everything he had in that game after his injury, knowing that he was probably done for his career. You can never question the toughness and dedication of this young man.

I know jake personally and I have felt bad for him at times when he has gotten beaten up on this message board. Yes, he was erratic at times, locked on to receivers, and missed open throws. But he also provided a lot to this university and program, coming in at GVSU, last year taking the team to Tech and playing respectably, taking the team to within one win of a division I conference championship(@davis). I will also never forget his run last year, against poly?, where he refused to go down and ended up scoring a TD.

Jake is and has been a great representative of Fighting Sioux Football during his time here both on and off the field. Thank you Jake, and all the other seniors for giving up the chance to play for a national championship and coming to a university that you loved. You have represented all of us, community and former sioux in a good manner.

I will be at the last game as Fighting Sioux and beg (even though I shouldn't have to) the rest of you to come out and support our young men.
