You can't win 'em all. JEEZ. I'd GLADLY waste my money to see the Twins. I've lived in Minnesota all my life and my proudest moment as a kid was my first Twins game sitting in centerfield right behind Kirby Puckett. I haven't been able to go back since then and I've been trying to like you wouldn't believe so i wholeheartedly disagree that the Twins are a sorry excuse for a team. I'm very proud to be a Twins fan, win or lose.
Agreed! the Twins are a great organization! Cant wait til outdoor baseball next year

I was at the Twins game tonight... what a waste of money! The venue, the product on the field. I am sad that I wasted my money to see the Twins. That said, it was great meeting all the Sioux fans tonight, we had a LOT of fun. I am super happy I don't live in the cities though, what a sad excuse of a team on the field and a poor experiece at the dome. Pretty sad stuff.
GO SIOUX!
So I am taking it as you have never been to the dome for a Twins game before? I disagree that the Twins are a sad excuse for a team on the field. I am guessing you are not at all a baseball fan?

Not saying Gleason can or will do the same, but Jake Marto wasn't hyped coming out of the USHL becasue he didn't put up the numbers Derrick Lapoint did, but he sure has performed above expectations.
Agreed Marto must be the fastest skater on the team! Wow can he skate...

i say toews gets in and oshie joins parise. will be a fun olympics with those guys if they make it along with the sisters!

I dont see Oshie making the team. I hope he does but i doubt it.
-
In my expert opinion, the only question mark there is Oshie. I'd say Parise (US) and Toews (CAN) should easily be on their country's teams on the men's side and the Lamoureaux girls should make the US team on the women's side. Toews may not be a "shoe-in" for Canada, but he should make it.
No doubt Parise is 100% in...no question at all about that.

hf oilers top 25 prospects - chorneys also #13
12 (8) Chris Vande Velde, C, 22
Acquired: 2005 draft, 97th overall
Some players crumble under the pressure of newfound accountability. With North Dakota, Vande Velde was used as a bigger and bigger part of the team offense and season after season has fulfilled the larger demands.
A meager start of three goals in 38 games his freshman year has metamorphosed into an 18-goal, 35-point season in 2008-09.

I want to see what Gleason can do, a player who might surprise some of you I think.
I hope so but i think he will have a pretty big adjustment to make. He is small and did not have a very good ushl season. However, everything starts anew now so here's to hoping Joe can make an impact.
-
i think fienaghe will be an impact player this year and i think, barring injury, he will play every night, probably with macwilliam... so yes and yes
Lets hope those two can be a solid third pairing! With Gleason waiting in the wings
-
Will Fienaghe step up and be an impact player? I see the first two d set with Chay and Blood and Lapoint and Marto....MacWilliam and Fienaghe as a 3rd d?
-
I think it serves its purpose well. It's an alternate jersey. Alternates generate more revenue through additional jersey sales. What it also does is give fans who don't like the other jerseys a completely new look, instead of a tweaked version of one of the other ones. Too much green and red combined looked goofy, and I like the toned down red with a vintage look. Much cleaner and it doesn't scream Christmas.
I dont care for the new 3rd jersey....not very creative...

We'll definitely find out. I agree, the ECHL seems to be a better fit for Watty right now, but Rylan has gotten playing time in the AHL and I would think Matt can be just as effective as Kaip on the ice. Not only that, but he may get a better opportunity based on his 5th round pick status and North Dakota pedigree. Watty can fly on the ice, and may not have the greatest offensive skill set, but is a good two-way player and can be one of those role players that an AHL team might want/need. I hope he at least gets a chance. Sometimes if you find the right situation, a player like Matt can come out of his offensive shell to go along with his defensive abilities.
I dont see Watkins ever being an offensive player. He is a defensive player and a good PK guy that is it.

It sounds like the answer is yes and no. He was one of the players allowed to go home when they reduced the roster for the rest of camp (they cut back to 29). But the actual WJ roster will be decided in December and will be based on this camp plus play through the first couple months of the season. So any of the players that were in camp this summer can still make the team, and they could even go off the board and add someone else. So yes, he was sent home during the cut down, but no he hasn't officially been cut from the team because it won't be chosen for 4 months.
So it sounds like a long shot. I was hoping Cichy would have had a better showing but hey maybe he will tear it up with the Sioux in the first half and make the team.
-
Sounds like he might be a big gamer.
So Cichy was cut from the WJ team?

45.00 per ticket for the Goofs...that is ridiculous....totally ridiculous. This is not the NHL.

I agree with most of your post. However, I would guess that Hakstol talked to both guys, got the story straight from them, and then punished Frattin from that information. I am sure that he is trying to make a point with the team that they need to watch their behavior after the incidents of the past few years. This incident was totally unnecessary.
I think it is the university that mandated the punishment for Frattin and not Hakstol...I think the University stepped in before Hak had any chace to act.

Im sure at 3AM there was a lot of traffic that had to be diverted. Im sure people were late for work, doctor and dentists appointments, and bringing their kids to daycare. Backed up for miles probably.
This was stupid on there part but really isnt that big of a deal.
Obviously the traffic being diverted is no big deal at all....that is not the point. So if your neighbor was throwing furniture....glass etc out in the road you would think that was normal? The point is this is behavior that is beyond comprehension. When was the last time GF police were called because people were throwing furniture etc out on the street? I am guessing it has been many years
-
Bizzare. Very weird and random behavior. I am surprised that the article doesn't suggest that there was alcohol and/or drugs involved. I also think it is funny that Finley is still hanging out in GF. If I were him I would be finding some skating/skills lessons so I had a shot at making the Caps farm team.
Yeah well I cannot imagine you could get so drunk to throw your stuff in the street. This really is an embarrassment to the whole University. These guys are athletes who are getting to go to school on the UND/taxpayer dollar. This kind of conduct is ridiculous.
-
Seriously? These are two guys in there early twenties being stupid, big deal. I know I did a lot worse than that when I was their age. Don't see what the big deal is?
I went to UND and had many a beers many a nights...but as this allegation reports....throwing plates tables..etc out into the road so traffic had to be diverted?? I mean come on that is totally ridiculous and cannot be excused by saying these guys are in their early twenties.
-
why more for finley than frattin? they are 1 year apart in age. they screwed up. dumb decisions but not the end of the world as we all know. they screwed up and whatever frattin has to do he will do it and then you learn and move on like anything in life
More for Finley because he is no longer a member of the Sioux hockey team. It is an embarrasment for both players but I wonder what the Caps organization thinks when they read this article? Not good.
-
Wow, all I can say is wow.
Then again they are hockey players. So...
So what you are saying is hockey players are a bunch of boneheaded drunks? In this case that is apparently true.
-
actualy i think it is a different type of off season work out program. works out the muscles that you normally dont get bench pressing and doing squats
It is pathetic...that is all I can say. More for Finley than Frattin.
-
It's not going to be good and I am sure we will see the likes of McFooly down in Fargo making hay with this one.
Last I checked it is not April Fools....so this story is really true?
-
I hope Frattin learned his lesson about what happens when you hang out with cake eaters.
How can you be so drunk to throw stuff out on a lawn out in front of a house? I don't get it. Both these guys are over 200 lbs. Must have been many a jag bombs.
-
haha wow, that is very nice. they like destroying eachothers things from time to time hahaha. must be boring in GF. (not smack) just laughing with you guys
what a joke...shouldnt Finley be concentrating on making the NHL. This is a pretty pathetic story and one that cannot be defended.

Hopefully Blood can cover the mess better than Finley.
