  1. Anyone think that Frattin was reinstated due to the struggles of the team more than anything? If this team was rolling along would Frattin have been reinstated by Hak? I doubt it. Either way welcome back Matt!

  2. I don't think that Fox Sports would ever use volunteer announcers. They have a professional image to uphold and they wouldn't want to hurt that image by putting a product on the air that wasn't at least professional.

My guess is that the expense of broadcasting and the cost of paying staff to run cameras, do the announcing, do the production work, etc. make up most of the expense. The travel costs of those staff members are probably the smaller portion of the cost. Regular high school hockey games just don't attract enough viewers to pay their expenses. They probably can't sell enough advertising. The tournaments are the only games that normally would draw enough viewers. I don't think Fox Sports has the rights to the high school tournament; the local Fox affiliate, Channel 9, has had the rights to most of the high school tournaments in Minnesota for many years.

    Exactly, you are 100% correct!

  4. As sprig says below, the CFB was really on Malone, and get this, Malone hit him with his back, actually probably his butt. Malone was turning around to head back toward the center of the ice and as he turned he hit the badger who was moving laterally along the boards. It was a questionable call IMO. Certainly wasn't on Hextall. I watched the replay about a dozen times and Hextall did nothing wrong.

Totally agree about goaltending. It was 2-1 and a clearing shot came down into the Sioux zone early-mid 2nd period and Eidsness seemed to struggle with it. Right there I was ready to pull him. I'm not sure they were all his fault but I think 1-2 of those Gudmonson probably stopped tonite. We needed those stops.

Sioux seemed to play 1 really good game this weekend. Unfortunately it was parts of both nights.

Nice take Dagies! I agree with you 100%. Not very good goaltending at all this weekend.

  5. Last year going in to the Christmas break I believe we were 9-8-1, this year, 9-6-3. 2nd half surge is all I want for Christmas.

You know what I am tired of that song and dance. Where has it gotten us? So we are going to rely on the second half surge every year? I an really tired of laying all our eggs in one basket on this second half surge crap.

  6. Oh, the DU series. When we play the Gophers, I get excited. When we play DU, I just want to beat the snot out of them, on the scoreboard and on the ice. :silly:

It's gonna be a tough series, Denver will be ready. Hopefully if Cheverie plays he is rusty and we can punch some in against him.

  7. Good for Danny.

That is too bad. I was hoping that jersey popper would never see an NHL sheet of ice. Hopefully they send him right back to Houston after tonight's game. Never could stand that guy at all.

  8. Nice sweep at Tech for the Sioux. Eidsness with 2 wins on the weekend allowing 3 total goals. Kristo and Toews played very well along with the Defense. SCSU comes into Grand Forks off a bye week and previously they had split in Houghton vs Tech. Keep the wins coming!! GO SIOUX
